Greetings.

Dave from www.tombraiderforums.com kindly provides this bit of info, which I think we were all expecting anyway. "The July issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) is reporting 'Tomb Raider: Legend' could be primed for release on the Xbox 360, Microsoft's next gen console. Title has moved from 'rumour' to 'heavily rumoured', according to EGM."

Jolly good.

The thought of the new Tomb Raider on XboX 360 is disappointing. I was not planning on buying the new system. I live in Canada and heard the price was going to be $395.00 American. With the exchange rate, the new XboX 360 will not be cheap.

Do you think they will release it on the first XboX too?

Yep! They are definately going to release it on pc, ps2 and xbox. Xbox360 and psp will probably also feature the game. By the way, one the Xbox chieves reasently told a netmagazine that they expect to sell the new box for 299 Am. Dollars, or maybe 349 Dollars. They will decide and inform in two months.

Forgive me, I've just been corrected. Apparently EGM has moved 'Legend' on 360 from 'a rumour' to 'in the works.'

Thanks so much. I have really been looking forward to the new Legend that I was worried for a moment. :D

I still haven't beat AOD. I find it too hard to get into. All other Tomb Raider's I have played and played.

That's interesting because I have Toby Gard on tape saying there is no plan to have TR Legend on Xbox 360. He said this May 19th. TRL will only be on pc, ps2, and xbox.

Eidos says the same thing. I'm quoting Electronic Gaming Monthly, however.

But play.com is a Jersey (Channel Islands) website and the question came from someone in Canada. Here is the link:

So... as it stands. No one is sure if it will be coming out for 360 but for SURE it will be for the standard XboX.

Am I correct?

At this moment in time, the only confirmed consoles are Xbox and PS2, as reported in Eidos' press release for Tomb Raider Legend HERE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr7/press.html)

Anything else is purely speculative, but worth noting all the same.

Legend will debut on PS2, XBOX and PC simultaneously. Then Xbox 2 (360) and PSP.

This is my understanding of the release format.

I read the article at cvg.. wouldn't you say they are quoting the March financial report and not anything new? There have been plenty of Eidos people being quoted after the March financial report saying TR Legend will not be on Xbox 360. Doesn't this mean the news from the March report is not valid?

Allow me to help.

"While reps for the UK publisher labelled the suggestions as mere "ideas" [1] at the time, [2] now Eidos has confirmed to CVG.com that next-gen and portable versions of Tomb Raider: Legend are on the way.

[1] "at the time" meaning when the financial report from Eidos was published.

[2] "now Eidos has confirmed..." meaning present day.

In actual fact, the confirmation came on Tuesday. That would be Tuesday 31st May, two weeks after E3.

Instead of knit-picking on who said what and when, how about your opinion on Tomb Raider Legend coming to Xbox 360.

Well I bought a new computer and a new graphics card so I really don't care if it comes out on Xbox360. ;)

Indeed. PC is still my preferred format for Tomb Raider, but I'm still gonna buy an Xbox 360, and a PS3 will they eventually get here. I'm extremely curious about the specs of Legend on 360, and hopefully Eidos will release some futher details soon.

Actually I don't know if Xbox360 is worth it. I thought I read a headline stating the price would be $500, I don't know if that is true or not but also if you want Legend for Xbox360 the odds are it will be released much later than the other formats. Are you willing to wait? :) Lastly, is the Xbox360 able to connect to a computer monitor? Reason I ask is because even tho it has a higher resolution do you have a TV capable of supporting this? Those High Definition TV's are very expensive too. Just some thoughts.

I think the PC version is best... only for the fact that its easier to rip the fmv's and post on a website. Wouldn't you agree? :D

:D MissLara2U, Trinity34, PC is always the best for the immediate, due to the far better computing power of a high end rig, leaving aside the rare installation boogymen. ;) However, once the game has been disected and played thoroughly on a PC, I have been known to buy my favourite games on every damn console platform they were released to for the plug-in-and-playness advantage consoles have. http://www.catsuitandponytail.com/files/rolleyes.gif Even after my PC has grown bigger and better, I want to play older games. This is always a pain in the 'tail when my shiny super 'puter can't deal gracefully with a 5 year old game. ....Which is why purrrrrhaps, we own so many of the little darlings. http://www.catsuitandponytail.com/files/redface.gif

I don't think pricing for the next gen consoles are finalised yet. The XBox 360 is due this fall in time for the Holidays, while the PS3 won't show up until well after the new year. Probably quite a bit after since Sony is famous for product delays.

That said, it would be suicide for any console to be sold at $500 US. Nobody would buy it. The market will tolerate up to about $350 for a new gen console according to past history. The idea being, that they sell their consoles for most of the price of it's parts, get as many people as possible to buy it, then make their money on the games. It worked quite well with the first XBox, and should do the same with this new one.

I'm a console gamer, mainly because I just don't hve patience to be fiddling with settings to try and get a game to run corectly. I'd much rather just pop a game in and be able to play right away. If the XBox 360 performs as advertised, then it will be able to run this game at a very high resolution, complete with antialiasing at 60 fps on my 27" Television. All with fairly short load times. Not bad at all.
