View Full Version : POST ALL crash INFO HERE!

Since jaycw is pretty much saying i'm lying / we are lying about the crash because in their "dev" stage it didn't crash i've started this thread where we will ALL POST the CRASH INFO once a game crashes, no flaming, just when you crash click on the DETAILS copy and paste it here + other crashes you come up with during game play, make sure to mention what you were doing when it happened.

The sync issue online and the chatting system are already clear to them to fix, so ignore those here and post game crashes and other crash issues!

Mod make this a sticky so people do post all crash info thus making it easier for you guys to fix!

THnx, bye :D

in what thread is he calling you a liar? I'm just as pissed that the game is crashing on me but the guy has been nothing but helpful. The only thing he said is that the game is NOT crashing for everyone which is true. If they can't recreate the crash in their QA tests then it takes that much longer to come up with a solution.

good point, the people here such as mike have done nothing wriong, they are all gentlemen about all the issues when they at times could probably just freak out :P. a lot on here is complaining, but i would jsut like to take this oppourtunity to thank them for all that they have done.

What part of don't post anything other than crash info don't you guys understand? If you wisht o kiss-up to the mods do it in PMs, leave this thread for crash info so THEY can get it fixed and stop hearing all the whinning regarding crashes and bugs. And he might of not called me a liar but when he says "oh well when we tested it it worked fine" what is he implying? I didn't know eidos had over 10000 computers with different hardware/drivers/software installed, because that's the only true test you could do since every computer IS different and behaves different based on drivers/hardware/software. So just because on the same 3 comps they did QA on didn't crash does not mean it does not happen to me and others.

K, thnx.

This crash occurs every time after finishing a level, it asks if I wantto save, I click yes, or no, (either does not matter, it saves no prob, then goes to loading bar, then crash to desktop...

Able to be Reproduced, happens every time...

I have tried uninstalling DiVX codec, and even downloaded and installed Rad Tools, ect.., no difference, same crash

I have tried unchecking full screen effects ect. as I found in the support section of Edios website, I have tried setting default settings, even tried with VSync enabled and disabled, no matter what grafix setting the crash takes place right after ending a mission and then when it begins to load the next mission info (video I assume)

We have a large collection of machinery we test/play the games on to cover for compatibility, but as you said it is IMPOSSIBLE to guarentee that EVERY iteration of hardware will work together. We have to ensure as much coverage as possible, but no matter HOW much we do the moment the game is released its almost into unknown territory. Within 1 day of release on a big title the consumers would have done more `play time` then the entire development testing cycle (say 10,000 sales, play it for 2 hours in first day, thats 20000 man hours of coverage - thats over 2.5 man years - see what i mean and thats just 1 day).

Now if we released a game and then just left it, and didnt listen when people said there were problems, then yes fine, you have every right to complain etc. Have we done that? no, theres a few of us on here (which is not actually my paid job btw) asking questions, listening to peoples rants about this and that, learning of new hardware combos etc.. all of this information is invaluable in ensuring we can make the game better for all.

Thanks for making a clear thread about the crashing info (yes i know people have hijacked it a bit but it doesnt stop people posting the info, which we are going thru)

Also i never meant you to think i was calling you a liar by saying we never saw these crashes, i was just stating a fact that on our test systems during the testing process we never had these types of `random` crashes which we couldnt report back to dev team and see fixed before release version.

Cool i'm glad we got that cleared up :) Is there a way to remove the posts that are not regarding crash info and make this a sticky so it can be used for the purpose and allow you guys to fix the issues?

Thnx :)

I am a software developer and this problem when I am beta testing software is usually attributed to an incorrect procedure or routine, call.

Meaning its a shoddy piece of coding, although It could be the procedure calls to or from DirectX 9

Well since a driver update caused us problems that tells us that its a function call we are using which has changed how it is handled `within` directx/driver.

It's funny how I ( admin ) get banned when I'm doing exactly what I was told to do and post crash info so they can "fix it" somehow I doubt they will so they remove those of us who speak out so other poor souls come here and buy the game thinking it's well done and has good support.

I work for a software company so I understand how hard it is to test for every possible environmental variable... It's 'im'possible.

So here is as much info as I can give you regarding the crash. In a hope that it helps you sort it out.

First problem was when i first installed this game I had framerates lower than 1/sec. I updated the drivers to the 71.89 and that was fixed.

The second problem is the crash to desktop. It has happened twice and I'm not going to bother playing again until I have a solution as it's too frustraiting to get so far through a level with no save point only to have the game crash and have to start again. I would stick with it if i could save somewhere and so get a bit further each time, but I cant.

It has happened twice both on the same level, but not in exactly the same spot. It's the level where you get to drive the car for the first time, I'm guessing its not very far into the game. Each time I have been in the vehicle. First the normal car and then the second crash in the one with the gun on top.

It crashes with the following error

Exception at: 30/04/2005 at 06:37:29

Leadtek A6600GT TDH 128MB Graphics
Nvideo Forceware 71.89 Drivers
DirectX 9C
Windows XP Pro SP2
SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1 (only running standard windows drivers)
Onboard Realtek AC97 Audio (Also enabled)
Trend-Micro Internet Security 2005
Kerio Personal Firewall
Can't think of anything else that might be relevent but if there is then please let me know and I'd be glad to share the info.

AU$90.00 for a game that doesn't work very well is hard to swallow. Hope you guys can get this sorted soon. From what I have seen so far it looks like a great game and I'd love to be able to play a bit more of it.

Thanks guys

I have 2 crashes so far. I'm playing the second time through. Both happened very shortly after using alt fire on the pistol very close to end of section cutscenes. I had never used pistol alt fire in the first play through, and never crashed. It may or may not be related.

First crash:

Exception at: 25/05/2005 at 09:16:18

Second crash:

Exception at: 26/05/2005 at 06:44:38

Yep.
Same problem.
The game will occasionaly crash to desk top with that f**king sound loop.
One person had posted that after the third level, these problems stopped.
That also seems to be the case here.
I won't hold my breath though, since I only just finished the fourth.
