Eidos has confirmed Tomb Raider 7 - under development by U.S.-based studio Crystal Dynamics - "will be unveiled this autumn and is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of the current financial year." The statement was made as part of Eidos' posted Preliminary Results in which the company registered a 2.9 million pound year-end net loss after sales slumped.

That's great news! Except I don't know what a "financial year" is. When exactly would the "fourth quarter of the current financial year" be?

"With Tomb Raider 7 now set to be unveiled within the next few months, and set to make its playable debut at E3 next May as Eidos tries to get the game out before the end of June - the end of its financial year"

The autumn revelations have filtered down to most online gaming magazines, each with their own take on what we should expect from Crystal Dynamics. Some have speculated that Crystal Dynamics is far ahead of schedule than planned at this point, which makes me wonder if they are indeed using the Soul Reaver engine instead of designing a new proprietary engine exclusive to the continuing Tomb Raider series.

Perhaps they are using the engine from the AOD? Anyway, I just browsed through some old screen shots on ign.com from the AOD game and it is funny to see the some of the shots contains a different Lara and some situations that never occurred in the game. I wonder how many goodies that still exists and why they changed her??? Maybe this has already been up to discussion, if so I apologies.

Will Tomb Raider ever carry over to the XBOX? I've always been a Tomb Raider fan but was never able to actually sit down and play Chronicles and A.O.D. Then I somehow ended up with an XBOX. My Playstation/2 are broken so.. Will TR7 be on the XBOX too?

Thanks for the news...I can't wait to play it as I think the story and gamepley keeps improving. There is a flaw though in the software of the game as the software bugs in the game seem to be getting passed down from one tomb raider game to the next.

Will anybody be able to shed some light on where the best patches for the TR games can be found?

Thanks

Soon folks. I can feel it in my water. The AGM statement contained no real new info on Eidos' strategy. If you noticed this morning, Eidos' share price was plus +3 on anticipation of the forthcoming AGM STATEMENT (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46815). It's now dropped to no change. Eidos recently ADDRESSED ITS DECLINING SHARE PRICE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/headlines1947.html) in a statement on November 18th. The company will want to curb any further drop with its "secret weapon." I've COMMENTED OF LATE (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46572) my thoughts on Eidos' silence surrounding the release of Tomb Raider 7... but I believe NOW is the time to engage.

We'll see!
