I second that. Thief3 runs smooth on my 9800 PRO 256 maxed out in 2048x using Cat 4.4

Good reading (Swedish) (http://www.sweclockers.com/html/recension/rec_031201_grafikkort_q4_2003_del_1.php?page=28)

For the cheaper end but still with good performance the Radeon 9600 Pro and XT models are pretty good but I highly recommend a Radeon 9700/9800 Pro and XT since they simple rock in any game out there ;)

Mrwynd the card in your link has 128 bit memory. Not a real 9800 Pro. 256 bit costs around 200.

yep!
my card is a
Sapphire 9800Pro 128 MB Ultimate Edition
(UE = fanless passive cooling)
and game runs perfectly well on my AMD 2400+ / 1 GB DDRRAM with the following settings:
- 1280*1024
- max Detail
- Bloom OFF (I like the sharper details)
- Vsync allways OFF (in drivers menu)
- Catalyst 4.4 (4.5 had probs with some lightning)

I have the 9800pro 128mb and have had nothing but good luck with it. Runs every game with no problems.
