the names of the characters in Legacy of Kain are taken from the bible, and other religious gobble-di-gook.

kain or "kane" is joseph's son,who killed his brother Abel, hence his corruption as a vampire and his empire in SR1. his real defiance is to avoid that fate, and kill the ill-scribe elder.

raziel is referenced as a retriever of some artifact (just like he is with the spirit reaver). nothing more, so don't get you're hopes up for the blue corpse's return

and janos or "janus" is a two faced god. thus i think that janos could very well be hash'ak'gik (therefore he posessed himself) or even the elder, changed at some point in time that we dont know yet. or it could simply be refering to his actions while he was posessed by hash'ak'gik- opening the hylden gate and stuff.

Janos = Hash'ak'gik? That makes zero sense to me. The discussion of Janos Audron's relation to Janus of Roman mythology was covered quite thoroughly many months ago on NR. I hope it was archived because we covered a lot of bases. I recommend doing a search and reading it.

Not to be picky but in the Bible it's spelled "Cain" and he's Adam's son. It's kind of funny cause if you know the Bible at all that story says that Cain and Abel both brought a sacrifice to God. God accepted Abels but refused Cain's sacrifice. Kind of ironic that the theme in LOK is Kain refusing the sacrifice :D
