Anyone have a solution for why a joystick won't work in the game w/Win2k? When I attempt to redefine the joystick keys, the game is unresponsive and won't let me select anything.

I have a gravis gamepad pro (USB) but I also tried a standard gameport joystick.

nope....I don't even know what Win2000 desktop looks like.

But, I know that FF7PC only reconizes the first joystick port. In Win98 you have something like 16 to choose from in that joystick icon thing in Control Panel....in Win98 it has to be the very top one, or it won't see it.

FF7 doesn't seem to like some USB gamepads in Win2k, and the Gravis Gamepad Pro is one of them.

Download JoyToKey (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA016823/joytokey/english.html), it's a feature rich keystroke emulator for gaming devices. You'll be able to map FF7's keyboard commands to buttons on the gamepad, and then you can use the gamepad.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a try. I guess we should all be happy that the game runs at all in 2k or XP.
