I mean it was nowhere near as good as any other game in the series, but for a Wii port early (ish) on it's library, I thought this was a fairly decent game with some good replay value. I wouldn't mind seeing a future Wii-U release for another title similar :P it was one of the best/only all motion games I've played to this day on the Wii.

Can I call it the most elusive and least known of the lot if it's the one that sold most copies in Japan? I've heard some great and some terrible things about this game. I know for instance it's the longest of the bunch but it also takes 2 hours just to get started. I've seen some gameplay videos and to tell the truth I'm liking it so far! But I want to know if you would guys recommend this game. Would you?

I would if it wasn't so hard to get. The copy I have doesn't work =\ And it's freakin' expensive.

SO yeah, as the only DQ game I haven't been able to play all the way through and beat ._.

tiaeltaru

It's definitely my all time favorite DQ, but yes it is long.

Pretty much this. I also think it and DQV have the best story of the bunch, though I do love them all.

Yeah, this version needs a remake or port to a newer system!

I had always hoped for a Dragon Quest: Swords 2 using Wii Motion Plus.

I liked it :D

and we may get a second one eventually

I'd definitely like a port/remake. More comfortable that way, and people who haven't played it can get into one of the best in the series IMO.

This is true, a 3DS remake should happen.

Imagine the sales in Japan? And I would be one to line up to buy it in North America.

One of the reasons, why it's a good idea is so that the folks here in Europe can finally play the game too.

Plus, with the graphics of the 3DS it'll look much better. Let's be honest, DQVII isn't the most pretty looking game (even for the PSX era).

tiaeltaru
20th Jun 2012, 09:32
I forgot, you had to emulate it to play it yeah? Sucky.

I don't expect them to do the graphics up much, but I'd even take a better looking Zenithia trilogy graphics (which already looks awesome)

LordRoto
27th Jun 2012, 08:55
Yeah. WHo knows, maybe they could go all out and make it on the wii u to fleash out that massive world with graphics like DQX will have on the Wii U, though we haven't seen that version yet...

tiaeltaru
27th Jun 2012, 11:34
Probably not Wii U, but I fully expect a remake on most likely the 3DS given how well it is selling lately.

Who knows when that will happen though, maybe after DQX releases this August we will hear news of a VII remake?

LordRoto
27th Jun 2012, 15:05
That sounds reasonable. I'd take the remake on whatever as long as I own it XD

Going back and re-playing older games and got the urge to start a new DQ VIII game. For the record, I haven't picked up this game in years, but I had forgotten one of the true pleasures of this title..merely running around and looking at the scenery. Level 5 did one hell of a job with this game, and it feels like you're really immersed in this world. Watching the sun rise and set over a mountian, plodding around and getting into random battles, this game had it all. (Great villain? That's debatable...) As with all DQ titles, the soundtrack is wonderfully soothing. Love this game! Yangus is the BEST!!!

Anyone else play this one?

I have; heck, I've tried all the numbered games of the series.

I did manage to beat Dhoulmagus, but when tring to get everything all set for the events after that, my memory card decided to go kaput, so I have to restart all over again!

It has been a while since I have played DQ VIII as well. I've been thinking of playing again too, actually. It is one of my favorite DQ games, mainly because of the story and beautiful graphics. Ha, now I want to play it!! :D

After hearing about VII, I got to thinking...what about Dragon Quest VIII? Namco ported over Tales of the Abyss, another PS2 RPG, which I have, and am hoping to hear an announcement down the road for Dragon Quest VIII on the 3DS...a 3D version with various new features, like SpotPass and capturing monsters to fight against people you pass by...or trade with other players.

I also hope the 3 Wii titles come out here....Dragon Quest X (as well as the Wii U version), Battle Victory Road and the release of NES and SNES versions of Dragon Quest I to III on the Wii as well.

Greetings! Yes! i played DQ VIII and even battleled hundreds of liquid metal slimes in a top of a mountain to attain level 100! Even passed the Dragon Trials to earn the special Ring that influences a the story's end. For me it is the most breathtaking one of the series!

The glowing tree is the Tree of Styx. It only appears at dawn for a short time (it probably changed to day normally and caused the tree to dissapear) and if you stand on a bright green glowing leaf a few steps in front of the tree and press x you can get a yggdrasil leaf. You can do this once per day. There is also a side quest involving the tree that allows you to ride sabrecats.

DQ8 is my favorite of the series since DQ3. I just wanted to throw that in here. :) Good rpgs are becoming distant memories. Where's DQ11!? lol I don't know if one's in the works or anything. I thought I'd shout it out anyway. :)

It' the Yggdrasil tre and only appears at night. You must get to it at some point to get the saber tiger to ride, at the mansion south of the casino.

From a source on GFaqs which this source confirmed BDFF localization prior to release or even siliconeras article

www.gamefaqs.com/boards/643004-bravely-d... (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/643004-bravely-default/66016207/742284246)

Aryllies (http://www.gamefaqs.com/users/Aryllies/boards)

Just a quick update, DQ7's localisation has been decided during the mid-April localisation meeting.

So rest assured it's coming. As usual, no date for the start of the localisation process has been set.

Regarding TW and DQM2, some people are pushing for it but they weren't discussed this time.

Wait and see.

Come on SE

azalel
25th Mar 2015, 22:06
SE just does not care about its American DQ7 fans. This is blatantly obvious. There are a couple of options open to SE, but they are not mentioning ANY plans of pursuing them.

1. Kickstarter: To test the waters, SE could start a KS plan to test the fans' commitment to this game on the 3DS. I would contribute.

2. PSN: SE has MANY Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, etc games on the Playstation Network as downloadable games. Why wouldn't they release Dragon Warrior VII on the PSN? It made sense when they were planning to release it on the 3DS, but now they are saying it is too costly to redo all the text. So, why not release it on the PSN?

So, why doesn't SE do anything? Apathy. They just don't care.

Fine. They don't want my money? Okay. You win, SE. And you lose.

I just bought a used copy of Dragon Warrior VII for the PSOne. I get to play one of my favorite RPGs (fortunately, I still have my original PS2 and it works perfectly), and SE gets no money out of it. I paid $50 for it on Amazon and it works great.

So, all of you who want to play this classic, that option is open to you.

Hopefully, SE will pull its collective head out of its collective ass and realize just how easy it would be to make more money on this title. If they would just release it on the PSN at least, we could purchase it for the PS3, PSP, or PS Vita (I have all three). I would still pay the fee to have it on a portable system (the PSP or PS Vita).

Dragonquest VIII was one of my favorite RPG games on the ps2.i especially love the dragonball z art style of the characters.i would love to see this game as a ps3 download in the ps2 classics of the psn store or see a possible hd remake for the ps3. the music in this game was absolutely captivating.i would sometimes wander around the world map and whatnot just to listen to the music.if a remake is ever made on ps3,they should put in some kinda jukebox in the casinos of the game that we can interact with and listen to the entire soundtrack, much like breath of fire 3 and 4 did with the music shops in the fairy village
