I started playing the Beta today after some help from friends, forum Members, & GMs. But when my laptop overheated I swapped to my Main PC but when I attepted to login to it it gave me an error saying something like "Logging Into this account from another PC counts towards suspicious activity and your account has been temporarily suspended." Now I went through getting it unsuspended but My question Is wether or not there's a way to play from my Laptop and once it overheats to play From my PC?

The reason I don't just play from my PC is because my laptop can run the Game at 60fps near max settings for about 4 hours before it overheats.

Can I play FF14: A Realm Reborn on my Acer Aspire 5515?
Will I be playing it on it's lowest, highest, or average settings if my computer can even play it at all?

My computer has
2.75 GB of usable RAM
Processor: AMD Athlon 2650e 1.60GHz
Graphics card: ATI Radeon X1200

I tried taking the benchmark test and it wouldn't load. I thought I didn't download it right because I used a weird .zip file opener.

If I'm unable to play it on descent settings or can't play it at all, what's the best/cheapest computer or laptop I can get?
I'm 16 and jobless so money is kind of hard to get, but I do have around $200's saved from my birthday & Christmas. I'm guessing this game is going to come out during the summer/fall so I have plenty of time.

I really really really want to play this game and want to make sure I have everything I need before its launch. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure entirely if it could or can't, but I'm gonna assume that if your laptop can infact play it, it will be more around the Average-low settings.

I'm just assuming though..

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you wont be able to play ARR. Your graphics card is much worse than the minimum requirements Graphics: NVIDIA® Geforce® 8800 Series, ATI Radeon™ HD 4770.

The recommended requirements are Graphics: NVIDIA® Geforce® GTX 5xx Series, AMD Radeon™ HD 7970.

With 200 dollars you could get a ps3 and play the ps3 version. Or buy a used laptop from someone... I recommend the ps3.

so is image retention gonna be an issue on a plasma screen? will there be like an auto hide function for when not in combat or something?

Paladin_Locke
26th May 2013, 08:47
Based on some of the alpha videos on the games website, I would say that the UI can be hidden. For example, the Tour of Eorzea part 2 video shows a player walking around with absolutely no UI present. I would say that if not automatically, it will at least give you the chance to hide it manually.

from what i read there is supposed to be a lot of options for UI. and everything will customizable.

i am hoping they will allow to make objects/elements see through. as this will help reduce the intensity of IR.

it would be nice to see an option to auto-hide while out of combat. and to be able to input this option on each object/element.

and it would be cool to have the ability to save current UI configuration to a Preset.

i just hope there will enough ways to customize i can play for more then a few hours at a time xD

Hello friends and future party members,

Just thought I'd post this link for anyone not sure how the game will play on the ps3 or a PC gamepad. The video has been out for a little while, but in case you haven't seen it....it's quite extraordinary.

Very clever and has potential to be very fast as well. May even pave the way for future MMOs for the console eh?

Enjoy!

My current setup is the following
Sapphire HD 6950 2GB
AMD phenom II x4 940 3.0ghz (quad)
8gb ddr2 ram
MSI 790XT-G45

corsair TX750 watt power supply
80gb ssd

I get decent fps when I'm in areas that don't have many players or monsters, but in heavily populated areas I get anywhere from 13fps to 27fps. Please reccomend which hardware of mine I should replace in order to get a steady 45+ fps in all areas. Thanks

the main thing here is your CPU. while yes a quad core 3ghz is fine. its a low-mid range cpu/gpu so ofc you only get low - mid range results FF XIV runs at 60 fps on pc considering that you have 2 options. option 1. buy a new CPU /gpu. option 2 buy a new computer.

the 6950 is outclassed by a GTX 650 which is a budget gpu and fairly weak. running high demanding games at high res or high graphic settings will be putting some strain on your card. it COULD be a cpu bottleneck but i highly doubt that, rather i'd say turn your graphic settings down ( when available) and see if that gives you an FPS increase.

Tho there is alot to consider when upgrading your computer ( power supply motherboard and geting a gpu to compliment your CPU). right now looking at your computer you should be fine runnign the game on medium. if you want high end game play you will need to upgrade both cpu and gpu.

Did you run the benchmark and if so what was your score?

Pretty much what Chad said. We have almost the same specs but I can run FPS at 60 even during areas where there's a lot of players. But remember this is Beta, your FPS might run better when the game is officially out.

Im able to run this game (Atleast Beta phase 3) on Average 40-53 FPS with a GTX650 SuperClocked version On High settings full screen 1920 x 1080. You might have a few hiccups when its trying to load other players, but after that your FPS will go back up to normal. FPS doesnt drop during massive FATEs, so im Kinda glad.

my Build is

MSI 970A-G46 ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD FX Quad Core 4.20 GHz

8 Gigs Ram DDR3

GTX650 Super Clock

roughly around $600

This doesnt include the price of an OS though.

I have an i5 3470 and a gt 660 (twin frozn III from msi) and on max i get 6000-6200 no OC or anything, 128 SSD for SO but I have installed the game on my 500 gb SATA III 7200 rpm.

As someone already mentioned changing your VC and Processor (which means also buying a new mobo) will improve. My fps goes (if you set none instead of steady 60fps in game) from 45-59 in heavy to 90+ in not so heavy.

Hope it helps.

From my recent upgrade/over clocking, it seems like its demanding on both. More so the gpu it would seem tho.

It helps to have a decent processor that is for sure. I have a fairly cheap cpu a simple dual core 3.6ghz and it was paired with a radeon 6750

I was getting about 35fps on med-high kinda low performance. I am in the process of upgrading parts. This last friday I upgraded my vid card to a radeon 7950.

my game went from (same processor) 35fps med-high to 48fps on MAX. It improved it quite a bit

However I know my processor is the one holding me back from getting higher proformance. Luckily for me im going to be upgrading my processor to an i5/i7 in early sept just a few days after the offical release.

I know its not a direct answer, but I hope it will be helpful to someone.

I am not in beta, but in the benchmark, I noticed that support for 120 Hz was not listed. My monitor reported 60 Hz from the benchmark game engine. Does anyone know if there are plans for future 120 Hz support in the actual game? Or, can you tell me if the game supports it?

I have a crossfire setup and although I know the benchmark doesn't support crossfire (it crashes after a bit), my one card got almost a score of 11000 and averaged about 96 FPS. I like to be able to see the higher refresh rate (greater than 60). I can tell a difference personally.

*Someone will undoubtedly claim the human eye can't see anything above 30 or 60 FPS. Personally, I start to lose the ability to tell after about 90.

SinisJecht
19th Aug 2013, 15:41
So as many of you I ran the benchmark before OB, and scored 7000+ which I was very happy about given the detail in this game. However in-game was a bit of a different story. I had no consistent FPS, In cities I was getting 35-49 fps, which isn't bad but not what I was expecting. In the world though I get from 23-60 fps depending on where I look/stand/body position, is this my hardware or is this some bad code within the game?

I'm not complaining about the game in any sense, the game is spectacular and I can't wait for early release, but this FPS thing is bugging me ( I'm kinda OCD about stuff like that hahaha )

Dragonblade_901
19th Aug 2013, 15:46
Think about it this way. The Benchmark doesn't show over 100 players at a time. The game on the other hand does. The Benchmark only gives you an idea on how the game will run with what is happening at once. Because of how many people there are your GPU and CPU have to render and process EVERYTHING that happens at once. This is typical are basically any MMO like this out there. However each MMO it varies. Don't you think it makes sense now?

I scored 11700 with a gtx 770 and a fx 8350 and I had same lag in city areas think it was the server lag causing this ,the faster I moved around the area running the worse it got, but this did nothing to put me off a excellent game and walking around I did not notice this

plus the server was full

As I said, I'm in no way complaining, just a general question to help me decide if an upgrade is needed.

For use with FF 14, as I'm not a big PC gamer.

Currently my specs are:
Phenom ii x4 850 @ 3.5GHz
GTX 460 1gb OC
8Gig of RAM
quality 700w PSU
M68MT-S2 mobo ( very old now and poop :P )

Upgrades I'm looking at, ( mainly for this game ):
AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail
MSI 990XA-GD55 AMD 990X Chipset (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard
MSI GeForce GTX 670 Twin Frozr Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

I'm on a tight budget as I have 2 kids and a house to pay for,so I'm looking for a good budget gaming rig to run this game at 1080p Max settings with 60 FPS ( hopefully) will these upgrades be enough? and does anyone use any of these parts themselves?

Thanks. Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

Logitech F310 control pad.
So I made it in world, and everything was fine. But suddenly my movement keys went from the left analog stick to the D-pad. I've tried going in to sys config/button config, and it shows it is using the left analog stick. I exited the game and re-entered, unplugged and plugged back in the controller, but it seems to be stuck on the D-pad.
Any ideas? Am I missing something blatantly obvious?

Fixed. I didn't notice the "Mode" button on the controller. I guess it WAS something blatantly obvious.

meh as the title says, they assured us that the SLI support for two and more graphic card will be working as the game releases. unfortunetly, i am running sli 2x gtx 770 and the game is not supporting it. this is no big deal one would think but the game gives me very bad slowdowns because of this. The fps does not drop but the game literaly slows down for like 2 seconds and then speeds up again, which is annoying as hell and not very playable considering it happens once every 10 seconds even less.

:( Sounds rough... can you run the game simply on one and get ok fps or naw? i use dual sli NVidia 670M's and if I can run on run and on two. I know this isn't too much help but does your manufacture have anything like " Geforce Experience "

It should be working, but i can't confirm as i can't get in right now. It was working for me with SLI GTX 670's 4gb in phase 4, i see no reason why it shouldn't be working now.

Can you post your specs on your computer ?

OP, make sure you go into NVIDIA control panel and make absolutely sure SLI is enabled.
What resolution are you running ? 1080P ? Should be smooth, might be connection issue and Server.
I'm running 2560x1440p monitor with my 670's and they were both running average 70% Usage during phase 4
I would have preferred 90+ Though ^_-

Right click desktop > Nvidia Control Panel
3d Settings
- Configure Sli, Surround, PhysX > Maximize 3d performance.

I know this sounds silly but i've done it before myself.

If you want me to help you get an On Screen display so you can see if its working IN>Game, let me know.
You can see the % percentage usage of each card while you play in the upper left hand corner.
If SLI isn't working it will only show usage for one card.

Also are you using 1920x1080 ? It shouldn't be stuttering like that with one GTX 770. One of my 670's can handle 1080p locked at 60 fps.

If you want over 60 FPS butter smooth, go into
- Disable lock of 60 FPS IN the game settings
- In NVIDIA control panel go to Manage 3d Settings Under > 3d settings and scroll down under > Global Settings. Turn "Vertical Sync" OFF>
Depending on your monitor, you might get screen tearing a bit though.

One card is more than enough, its locked to 60FPS anyway.

It's NOT locked at 60 FPS and YES SLI makes a difference. Just saying.. Just locked by default.
but YES i agree, one 770 should be enough for 1080p @ 60fps

I checked the HUD display options but I can't seem to hide some of the menus. Is there a way to hide all of it, even temporarily? Plasma TVs will burn in anything that is constantly displayed, so if the chat/event log and bottom menus can't be hidden I'm screwed, right? 40 dollars down the drain as I'm not going to shut it off every 20 minutes. And I don't think I can return it now that I've downloaded and started up the game. But how else was I supposed to know what the interface looks like?

If you have any suggestions I'd be grateful.

I have no idea if it's possible but I'd look in the Key Bindings section. Games like Rift, WOW, etc. which do allow you to hide all UI elements do so by a keyboard shortcut so SE may have done the same.

Hippy_Pickle
29th Aug 2013, 08:12
I'm not sure about hiding sections of the HUD (not tried it really) but you can make the different sections smaller in the options. You can hide the entire HUD with scroll lock but don't think you can actually activate actions correctly without it.

HeiligeHarmonie

Pressing L1+Select will hide the entire HUD (normally for taking screenshots). I haven't actually gotten to play the game yet, so I can't say if you'll be able to use your actions while it's hidden, though I did hide it while I was on the character creation screen and managed to select some menus.

Also, depending how old your plasma is and the brand, burn in might not be as big a threat as you think, especially if you put it into game mode. But it doesn't hurt to be safe.

Well you are using a 680...
and 2840? That seems extremely small.

The L1+Select trick helps, thanks everyone. It's not perfect (I have to turn it on and off all the time) but it makes it playable.

First, I have not been able to log into ANY North American server for 3 days. The Client just can't find them. Unacceptable!

Second, I have a Sapphire HD7950 Vapor X GPU that I have overclocked from 950Mhz to 1100Mhz. Minor boost in the computer circles. I have Benchmarked it with the FFXIV Benching Program, 3DMark11, Unigine Valley, and Heaven. I also run Folding@Home on it when not trying to game. It runs flawlessly for all those programs that completely max out the GPU. But the moment I start up FFXIV it crashes to a black screen and I have to completely restart the computer. All my drivers are completely up to date. The only way I can get the game to run is by taking the GPU settings back to stock. If all those benching programs can be run with the GPU at 100% usage then why can't the game?

For the servers we cant' do anything just waiting for SE.

For your problem of black screen you need to disable the overclock. Your Overclock is too high and thats why you have a black screen. Try this and tell me if it works ;)

Not that I can even GET IN to play..but..EVERY time I try to check the box to disable my game pad at the start screen configuration..the green box never goes away. It is forcing itself to remain enabled even if I unplug it. Any ideas or does anyone know where the text config file is? This is becoming idiotic, Square....

you can switch between gamepad and keyboard while in game. Just go to character options and you will see a button in the top left that has a symbol of a gamepad with a symbol of a mouse right under it. Clicking the mouse will enable keyboard, while clicking the gamepad will put it back into gamepad mode.

Basically what the title says. I bought the Digi DL only to have it do nothing and pretty much had all of the problems everyone else has had. Now I can't even download it and have heard nothing back (so far) from SE. What I want to know from those who have bought the CD is if they are having an easier time with the problems or are they the same. From what I have been reading aside from dl problems the next in line is server/log in issues.

If the "only" problem CD has is server/log in issues, I'll take my chances with that as that is something that can be fixed, at least I hope anyway. I just don't want to flush another $30 down the drain.

I can't say for the PC but on the PS3 side of things people had less trouble registering the game with the hard copy compared to the digital download. But regardless of this most people are still hit with log on issues since that's the server side of things.

Well this gets my hopes up heh. I'll wait until I get paid before making another attempt. I really do want to play the game, I just should have waited. Been playing mmos for 15+ years, I should have known by now to not jump right in and expect things to go right heh.

I got the PS3 version and have not been able to register the game at all despite following the instructions in the manual. It comes up with the message the code is either wrong or no longer valid. So now waiting on the digital version problems to be resolved.

You shouldn't be bumping your post in a bid to get it noticed as this is a violation of the forum rules.

I will however advise you to download the FFXIV benchmark software, this allows you to create a character and will run tests on your PC hardware and give you a score on the performance.

A quick google search will take you straight to the download.

The simple answer is no. It's a shame no one has a modicum of technical knowledge. What you're using is an onboard video card powered by software (as opposed to hardware) and it will scream until it dies if you try to run this game. I'm willing to bet you're also on a laptop, or some other pre-fab (Dell, HP, etc.) desktop.

It's a shame no one has a modicum of technical knowledge.

Hold your horses laddie, just because I (and others) may not know the specs of every piece of hardware (onboard or otherwise) does not mean we have no techinical knowledge. We gave out the best advice you can give anyone trying to run the game on a PC and that is to download and run the benchmark, this way they would know for sure.

Also if you look up 'FFXIV intel hd3000' on youtube you'll see people can run it on those specs, it may not be super smooth but it runs.

TheRealKraggy

The simple answer is no.
Tell me something, have you ever posted anything on here that is true? You're clearly a very bitter man because you've descended to blatant lying to paint SE as the bad guy in several posts I see in your post history.

Hippy_Pickle
11th Sep 2013, 13:12
I looked at that too Kraggy, every post is just blaming SE for this that and the other and telling people not to bother with the game or anything SE. Definitely the posts of a bitter person, unlike ourselves who actively try to help the community. (I think every other post was stating how it's 'screwed')

It can run it, it can run quite a few games, it just won't run smoothly.

Hello.... i have some annoying prblem.
I'm install the game, and start play - MOVIE'S = OK, Character Creation = AWESOME OK, Cut scenes or DIALOGS = marvelous OK - but When i'm take control about my character i have only 4 FPS and is hard moving game then

My Computer (Laptop):
Intel Core i5 3210 CPU @ 2.50 Ghz 2.50Ghz
Ram - 6 GB
System - x64 ACP
Hybrid Graphic - Intel HD Graphic 4000 + Radeon HD 7670M + lastest patches

Games i play on full details - Tomb Rider (New), GTA IV, Assasin Creed 3, Battlefield 3, Cryssis 3, Fear 3 - and its ok - ohhhhhhhhhh.... and FarCry3

TheRealKraggy

Have you checked which video card the game has selected?

I have no experience of hybrid systems myself, but I've seen other post about systems like this (in this game and others) where the game wants to run on the HD card which is pretty underpowered (I have one in one of my PCs and games like XIV, Rift and others is painful).

I am baffled when it comes to this game, i have a 670 ftw sli setup and when i upgraded to newest drivers from 326.80 beta my score dropped incredibly low, tried all i could to get it better but until i reverted back my score was at 7k, with sli.. now with old drivers it is at 12.6k, problem is, i should be higher, i still dont think this game handles sli well at all, i am overspecced for this game and i hear people running just a single graphics card dont get any fps drops or any thing yet i have them all the time, it has gotten better but for investing in an sli setup and all other games running incredibly well, this game falls flat for sli, makes me want to sell my setup and go with a 780 just to get onto a single gpu setup again.. anyone have input? all i hear is adaptive setting in control panel, vsync off in game and hope for the best, i mean i can literally go from 1920x1080 res to 1024x768 and i still get same fps spikes, im just dumbfounded at this point, my cards are capable but some setting or something in this game is limiting me from running like butter. any help would be appreciated. My setup is a phenom II 965 Black edition quad core, OC'd to 4ghz, 8 gb ram, dual 670 ftw in sli and a ssd drive running win 7 pro.

@@Edit- tested just one 670 ftw cards, scored a 12.6k on 1920x1080 on max graphics, put in the second sli card and scored a 13.5k... what gives, its almost not even worth it, at this point id rather go get a 780 and sell these...

Windows vista basic 32 bit
Genuine Intel R CPU 2140 @ 1.60GHz
Nvidia Geforce GT 630 (vram 2767 mb)

Is this enough to play the game? I do not want to waste my money buying ff14 only to find that I am lagging constantly and I cant afford a new pc so be honest.

Posting the same thing in 5 separate threads is not going to get an answer quicker, it's just going to annoy people and make them not want to answer you even more! And probably get you reported for spam!

I don't run this on the PC so I can't comment as to your specs but if the benchmark says yes then I would assume you can run it on those specs.

Hi everyone. I'm not to sure if this is the correct place for this question but this seemed to be the most appropriate area to post it too.

I'm considering getting A Realm Reborn on steam. But I'm not to sure if my Laptop can really handle it well enough for it to still be an enjoyable game. ie: No lag or too intensive graphics ect..

What I'm asking is will 6GB RAM and an AMD A4 3300m with Radeon HD graphics 1.90 Ghz processor be enough to play this game and not look to compromised graphically

Thanks for reading :)

Hey Guys I have a quick question I found Final Fantasy XIV A realm reborn on sale at Newegg for 9.99 but the thing is I'm not sure if my pc can run it! Cause my pc failed the test at systemrequirementslab.com but sometimes that doesn't mean it can't run it cause I have had several games fail the test and still play fine! Anyways my question is do you think it can run it and yes I'm downloading the benchmark as we speak but need some answers while it downloads! And also I'm not a graphic person so I don't mind if I run on low settings! And also here is the test results for reference! Well I just finished the benchmark test and scored 1330! But all in all I just might buy it and wait till I get a better pc and try to avoid raids and well populated area's till then but if there is anything I can do to help the lag let me know and would razer's game booster help any! And another reason I'm risking it is cause I'd rather pay 10 dollars then 40! http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/Aireon719/FFXIV_zps716137b8.png

Hi Yurukai,

The Admin and mods on the forums tidy threads and move them to relevant threads that have already been created. This helps keep similar questions and answers in the same place so people may find the answers they need. In terms of your issue then downloading the benchmark program (just google FFXIV benchmark) will test your PC and gives you a score on how it would perform.

Thanks I was weirded out cause normally on forums they let you know! lol But anyways I already did the test. Highest I got was 1330! But sometimes it's lower so I'd say somewhere between 1200 to 1330. But I went ahead and bought the game since it was on sale for 9.99! Is there any tips to make it run smoother. I can deal with crappy graphics cause I grew up on the NES!

Hippy_Pickle
7th Apr 2014, 10:36
All you can do is try it I suppose, try on standard settings and if it runs choppy try turning down shadows and shading etc. Also helps to turn of the effects of others (in game character config), so when there is a lot happening on screen (multiple spells etc) then it shouldn't slow your system down as much.

Yurukai719
7th Apr 2014, 11:19
Thanks I'll be sure to do those once the game is delivered to me! I would consider getting better parts for my pc but it is one of them all in one pc's and I don't really know how those work!
