How on earth do you get new limit breaks, i apologise if this is a stupid question, but it has always bugged me. I could get further so much faster if i just knew how you got new limit breaks (oh and by the way, i don't mean the level 4 ones, i just mean how the game decides when it's time to give you a new limit break)

...I used to know.

I think limit 1 is unlocked once you killed a certain number of enemies with that character (this is why Aeris is so hard to limit out and Cloud is so easy.), and limit 2 is unlocked after a certain amount of uses of limit 1. And there are 3 levels of limit 1 and 2.

I know it says not to do this on GameFAQs but here is an excerpt from the faq by GideonD
"The values below are approximate, not exact, though to the best of my knowledge the number of times used for everyone should be dead on, and the number of kills needed should always be within 5 of the true number.

On more thing. Does the person who you are trying to get the limit for have to make the kills or can the group containing the person who you are trying to get the limit for do it.

Just the person you are trying to get the limit for. A good method is to use either Trine or Beta (or even Magic missle if it's good enough.) and kill groups of enemies (they come in groups of at least three, but usually five.) in the mountains behind Corel.

example with cloud, use the first one 8 times, then after you unlock the second one in level one, you have to kill 80 enemies, then after you unlock the first limit of the level 2, then use that one eigth times then repeat the same, kill 80 enemies, then when you unlock the firts one in level three you have to use it 8 times, then you can use the omminlash that you won in gold source, that apply to everyone, but i am not sure about flower girl , i hate her, se sucks

Thanks. although I don't think that the corel thing was much help yet. (i'm just near junon harbour) oh and by the way, i don't like aeris either. The problem however with doing things this way is that I am having to do it all over again with Yuffie and will have to with Cait, Vincent and Cid.

well that is why it took me more than 100 hours, cuz i wanted to see all the stuff that the game has, so remember the steps for all caracters so u can enjoy seen all their limits wich they are, cool, i forgot how to make the special chocobos, u will need them to get knoghts of the round table, so u can beat the ruby and emmerald weapons

Chinese Cyborg

I know an easy way to kill ruby and emerald anyway. I'll be getting Knights Of The Round still though.
don't worry about the chocobos yet, i'll ask for stuff about them when i get up to them.

tgsl1d3rrcl
7th Sep 2003, 11:26
no, there is not another way, there is only one way, and emmerald goes first then ruby, you cannot kill ruby first and u need to create 2 mimic materia in order to face ruby, the limist wont do anything to them, trust me i tried every single posibilities and there is only one way

I took out Ruby first. Truly.

It's been years since I did it on the PSOne, but I know I took out Ruby first, because the last darned thing I figured out in that game was how to get around Emerald's Aire Tam Storm attack.

tgsl1d3rrcl

no way ,how the hell are u gonna beat it with one player? without the knights?, and with emmereld u have to cast first the darns summon then get the other guys mimic it over and over and over till is dead

tgsl1d3rrcl

Rusty memory here - seriously it was a long time ago, but I already had KotR and mime materia - you don't need to beat Emerald to get them.

The trick had somethign to do with killing off your second and third party members before going in to the fight with Ruby, that way you avoid the really annoying first part of the fight with the tentacles, then you revive your KO'd party members and kick off.

As I say, it's a long time ago and I don't remember the exact details.

Here you go. I'm posting this as a spoiler, so hilight the blue box below to read the text, but this is the method.

The Ruby Weapon appears in the Corel Desert near the Gold Saucer after you the Diamond Weapon is destroyed in Disc 2. I suggest that you use the characters with triple AP growth weapons (Cloud, Cid, Red 13, Yuffie, etc.), so that you can take advantage of all the AP you'll earn. Equip your characters with Mystiles, or if you don't want to, Rune Armlet or Platinum Bangles. If your HP is low, you may also consider wearing fire-protective equipment (or use the Elemental Materia + Fire / Phoenix when equipped to your weapon). As for accessories, give everyone Ribbons.

Concerning materia, you'll need three Master Commands, or one or two Mimic materia. You'll also need one Master Summon, Hades, or Knights of the Round materia. Finally, you need one W-Summon materia, one HP Absorb materia, and then three Revive materia for each of you and as many HP Plus materia as you need. If your magic powers are low, I suggest a Magic Plus materia as well. Bring along plenty of Elixirs, Megalixirs, X-Potions, and Turbo Ethers.

You can be any level to beat the Ruby Weapon, although you need enough MP to cast Knights of the Round. Kill off your two allies before the round begins, or just after the round begins. This way, you have a much lower chance of it using 'Whirlsand' once you revive your allies. Once the Ruby Weapon sticks it's arms into the ground, revive your friends. One character should have these materia: Master Summon attached to HP Absorb, and W-Summon. Or, Knights of the Round + HP Absorb, Hades, and W-Summon. All characters should have a Master Command or Mimic materia. All you need to do is have one character W-Summon Knights of the Round and Hades, then have all three characters mimic that until the Ruby Weapon dies. It's that easy!

This is because Hades keeps the Ruby Weapon 'stopped', so you can attack it without fear. If your characters die, revive them and restart the process of mimicking one character's W-Summon.
However, this isn't likely to happen, as the HP Absorb materia will give back thousands of HP to each character when they mimic the W-Summon casting. Alternately, you can W-Summon Knights of the Round twice. This will allow you to win much faster, but is also more risky.

Courtesy of Kao Megura's indispensible FFVII FAQ - I don't know if it's posted anywhere nowadays though.

my solution is simpler than that. and requires only one character.
