View Full Version : What's your LOK story?

Here's mine.

2 years ago, I was given Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver for my birthday. I was amazed by the story, voice acting, architecture and plane shifting.

After finishing the game, I proceeded to get all the Glyphs, health pieces and Gylph enchancers. Unfortunately, the game froze while I was swimming toward the Fire Gylph Temple. When I reloaded the game, the save was deleted!

After going repairing my living room, I decided to do it all again. It must have been fate but I found my second playthrough more enjoyable than the first.

When everything was done in SR. I began to look for the 'Blood Omen: Legacy Of Kain' that was mentioned when the game was started up. I looked in bargains bins everywhere but had no success. 'I could not bear it. Despair overwhelmed me.'

But, my luck changed when I went into this store that specialised in games from years ago. There, on the shelf, was Blood Omen. I ran and grabbed it off the shelf before anyone else had the chance.

As soon as I got home, I played and enjoyed. After finishing it, I realised that I hadn't got all 100 secrets and decided to restart the game to get them all. What fun it was!

Later, that year, Soul Reaver 2 was released. After the sudden, abrupt ending of SR, I was hyped up for this. After getting used to L2 as crouch and the right analog stick as move camera, I played and completed this game. I was shocked (in a good way)by the ending.

I got the Bonus Materials code and I really enjoyed them especially the outtakes, 'It was forged for you and you alone, alone, it was for you alone!'

I was slightly disappointed that this game did not have secrets like the previous two but replayed it anyway as I found great fun it replaying the past two.

The next year, I heard all kind of criticisms about Blood Omen 2. This actually put me off buying it for several months. But in the end, I decided that I wouldn't be a LOK Fan if I didn't get all the games.

I understood was everyone was talking about, the glitches were endless and I had to continuously reload the game. I found myself saying, 'What the?! Janos?! Vorador?! Nexus Stone?! Seer?! They'll probably explain it later'

But they didn't. I intially enjoyed the combat system but eventually found it extremely repetive and boring. 'Lock on. Block. Block. Block. Dodge. Attack. Blood Suck. Rinse and repeat.'

I was annoyed that I had to suck blood from every single person that I encountered otherwise I wouldn't have enough health for later stages.

The puzzles too were boring and easy. I was frustrated by how Kain walked. I was angered that the BO2 team decided to don the great Kain with a Little Red Riding Hood costume. I hated this game PERIOD.

The only saving grace was the story but that was not up to scratch with previous games.

This year, after being fooled by blincoln's 'LOK:SR Special Edition', 'SR3' and 'Vehiculum Furtus Maximo', I found out about Defiance. After making sure it wasn't another joke, I was all hyped up. I have both trailers and screenshots on my computer.

I await LOK: Defiance with great expectations.

Umm... I'd gladly talk about it, but there already was a thread where many members, including I, wrote a lot, and I mean a lot, of text about their "LOK stories"...

I'll try to locate that thread, because, um, kind of lazy to re-write it again.
