View Full Version : Stop jumping on Newbies - they just want to have their say.

Please allow new posters to have good moan.

I'm personally fed up with all the 'old timers' around here slapping down the newbies for daring to post on a topic that's already been covered earlier.

Hey - this is a *forum*. Everybody gets the right to say more or less what they like. I thought you guys would know that.

Hey - this is a *forum*. Everybody gets the right to say more or less what they like. I thought you guys would know that.

Actually it's been stated that this is Eidos forum and free speech isn't really allowed. Instead we should all be good lil Stepford people and repeat "we love Lara, we love AoD" over and over and over (it doesn't matter if you say the same thing 500 times as long as it's what they want you to say)!

Just thought you might like to know that.

Also loved the part where disgruntled customers are now at fault for the possible demise of Core and Lara Croft......and that the substandardness of the franchise is due to the people who found that the game was not up to snuff and had the nerve to say so!

Well anyway I got busy playing the original and I'm stuck at the end and it's hard and tough and frustrating....all in a good way, and I'm just going to enjoy the nostalgia of when TR was good. It had bugs and glitches but it was fun!

I'll miss ya, Lara!

It's funny because some of us get upset when there are a million ka jillion threads about how AOD is the worst game ever in existance... and others get mad when people love the game.

I mean, everyone has a right to voice their opinion, but the *****ing gets old... old very quickly.

If you read the rules, you should see this:

Posting here is a privilege and not a right

And it can be annoying if you need to reply how-to-beat boaz every day.

And this 'opinion' is based on the hundreds of 'I don't like AOD' posts that have been closed in the past, right? Oh, wait, they must have been deleted because I don't see any closed threads. My mistake.

My mistake.
you're forgiven, dear!

the "opinion" is based on what was said outright to me, and I didn't imply that "non-compliant" threads had been closed or deleted....nor was I ever mad at people that love the game.....just that the theme of the place was basically "love Lara or die" and that it has been okay to post about Br Obscura, or Boaz, or Kurtis, or that AoD is the best ad nauseam but to express discontent , that you may only do once.

am I wrong?

For TRWad: being a newbie means that we don't know some things about this place. This line from the rules of this board isn't good (IMO). If we don't have the right to post something we like (without being offensive of course), then I don't think we belong here.

For GoranAgar: this is shameless for an admin to say this.

Conlusion: you lose members because of your behavior. And because of your behavior, serve your right!!

Look at the posts, dear. Need I say more? Most expressions of discontent are still out there. Including all of yours. :p :)

Consider this a party in someone else's house. You have to accept the house rules. You can not say to the host whatever you want.

What exactly was shameless about what I said?

Your whole post Goran. Anyway, I don't think we are going to find our rights here.

Being a member in the officially forum of Tomb Raider was a good idea. Well, I thought it was. Anyway.

BkBaby999, I am truly sorry if I offended you. That wasn't my intention.

Yes, you are. I am heartened that at least you set forth the details of your opinion and ask if it is correct, which is far more fair than a lot of posters here.

just that the theme of the place was basically "love Lara or die

For a place paid for by the people whose livelihood is dependant on people "lovin' Lara", I don't see anybody getting "killed" for not doing so while dissenting within the parameters of the TOU. I do see that a lot of people who obviously didn't love Lara don't post here anymore, though, presumably tired of both bashing the game and bashing Lara. Not suprisingly, many of the people who do remain here to post have a different opinion of the game and Lara.

I don't get the beef. On one hand you expect to be able to express your opinion that the game sucks as much as you like, but then you are troubled that people with a different opinion can do the same thing and express their opinion repeatedly?

that it has been okay to post about Br Obscura, or Boaz, or Kurtis, or that AoD is the best ad nauseam

What exactly would you expect in a forum whose primary function is for players to discuss gameplay about a particular game?

or that AoD is the best ad nauseam but to express discontent , that you may only do once.

Really? Is this the first, or even the fifth, or even the tenth time, that you personally have been allowed to "express discontent" and have then been made somehow not to be able to continue to do so?

It is your opinion that AoD is being said to be the best "ad nauseum". Although I certainly would agree that AoD isn't "the best", it is my opinion that continually bashing it for the same set of reasons time after time is a practice being done by some people "ad nauseum", and at this point is both annoying and redundant.

The above two "opinions" are both subjective, and thus hard to prove for all people, but this does not imply that all "opinions" have the same merit, since some of them can be proven or disproven objectively. For example, you go to a doctor complaining of chest pains and he renders the opinion that you have heart disease. You get a second opinion from doctor # 2, and she says you have severe acid reflux disease, but no heart disease. You subsequently have a heart attack and die. Doctor # 1's opinion was correct. Doctor # 2's opinion was incorrect.

In that vein, the frequent "dissenting opinions" I see here, "ad nauseum", that AoD is "the worst game ever" "unplayable", or some variant of those, are WRONG, as there are vast numbers of games far worse by any generally accepted reasonable criteria of evaluation.

That's right. However, the "host" made this party with our money,
so the "host" should not consider us as enemies. We merely
come here to enjoy the party, and if the booze (see AOD),
is bad you know what happens...
I must confess though, that the barmen (mods :D ) are more
than elastic with the rules, so i can't see any real problem here :)

If you visit a club you also have to pay to get in. And you still have to follow the rules of the club owner.

No one here sees the members as enemies.

But if someone starts breaking the rules one of the mods will escort him or her to the door. Or course not everybody always witnesses what happens, but that doesn't mean there isn't a good reason for our actions. And it is usually the outlawed who insist on their right to post here. For those is our little message. ;)

I guess we are done now.
