View Full Version : Error - what does it mean?

Oh, Bugger!

I was having a perfectly lovely time playing.
As I left the Dig Site I got the load screen
that said Tomb of Ancients. And then I was
thrown to the Desk Top with this message:
Build Jun24 2003 23:52:07

The following error has occured

Generic Game Error

ASSERTION: 'dir->x || dir->y || dir->z' at
C:\projects\tomb raider\Game\ai\ai-actor.c(209)

Anyone know what this error references?

I'm playing on a really good system without
the patch. Does the patch address this error?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

There is no way of knowing. I had a bit of a problem at the Archeological Dig even WITH the patch. Just at the last, finishing the combination, Lara became suicidal and ran off the ledge all by herself. Perhaps that puzzle involves too much, or there is a logical glitch in the program.

I would try the patch.

It addresses several issues and fixes those small things that you might not have even noticed.

You don't want ANY bugs for the Tomb of the Ancients ! !

Hmm, I got an error similar to that, but I only got it *after* I installed the patch (see the thread about the release of the patch for details, though nobody has bothered replying). In the end I had to reinstall the game without the patch. This is one of the most buggy games I have ever played, I can't believe this could be allowed to happen in such a major game. Eidos and Core should be thoroughly ashamed...

Yeah because they only had one programmer working on the game. And according to details he wasn't the best that they had ever seen.
