hello my fellow LoK fanatics....lately i've been trying to convince some componies into making a recreation of the blood reaver....so far i've only asked two componies and one has already turned me down but tonight im staying up late and sending as many emails as i can to as many componies as i can....the sole reason i post this here is that i would like to know whether or not i can count on the support of the members of these forums should the ocassion rise that i need it.

30th Sep 2002, 16:21
There are a couple of members who have already looked into this, they too got turned down a lot because of the curvature of the blade and the hilt.... but I believe somebody found a person that was willing to do it for them. Hopefully whoever was part of that topic will be able to assist you

30th Sep 2002, 17:33
Yeah, someone found a forge in Canada that was willing to make one, but they wanted about US$1100. Too rich for my blood.

If I remember right, Dea Calentis Tanith (sp?) was going to have one commissioned in England but they wanted an arm and a leg for it too. I think it ended up being US $2200 - $2500 or something. (I can't remember the british amount). :p

The thing was going to be the size of a normal bastard sword or claymore.

Now that would sure be fancy. ;)

I bumped into a blacksmith the other day who would have made a replica for fifty quid. But probably not a very good one. :)

He specialised in ironwork gates and hand forged trinkets for country shows and tourists. But I do know there are some professional sword smiths in Essex (where I live) who foerge swords to order. I don't know what they charge but there's a very long waiting list (in the order of years).

And the problem is that someone else is going to get a Reaver replica and somehow the two will meet and get broken. :)

30th Sep 2002, 21:41
I think one of the biggest challenges would be getting that nice green Damascus steel look. Either you'd need to have it forged from Damascus steel ($$$) and painted transparent green, or have the whole thing painted and risk it chipping.
IMO the best bet would be to go Star Wars fanfilm style and make it out of vacuform plastic or fiberglas and paint it. You wouldn't be able to deal death with it, but it would be a lot cheaper and would still look cool.

what i was hoping was that maybe a compony could mass produce these replicas...this would knock the price down considerably and allow many other people a chance to own the blood reaver....even people who have never heard of the series would want that sword simply because it looks so cool

3rd Oct 2002, 00:30
They'd have to license the design from Eidos. I'm not saying it's impossible, just unlikely =).

3rd Oct 2002, 00:56
Hee hee.... I'm getting my stepdad to make me a replica of the Soul/Blood Reaver for me. Granted it's going to be based mostly off the little plastic one that came with my Kain action figure, but I'm gonna have a replica. :D He's gonna make it out of stainless steel when he has gathered enough of it. :)

3rd Oct 2002, 21:34
anyone know where i can somehow contact eidos? because i'd like to see if i could convince them into giving the copyright paperwork and such so they can "green light" it...any help would be much apreciated...

4th Oct 2002, 11:57
Let´s just hope they don´t make too many of them or there´ll be a bunch of LoK fanatics, believing to know the future, wandering the streets with a bastard sword equivalent on their backs just waiting to meet someone else with another replica who they could engage in a duel to make a paradoxxx that will prevent them from flunking another year from the college or some other likely event to come. :D Whew, try saying that in one breath.

4th Oct 2002, 12:15
I would buy one - definitely. As long as it wasn't too absurdly expensive - keeping in mind I live in Australia, so anything shipped here from overseas is not cheap...freight and import duty etc is ridiculous in this country.

Don't worry about not remembering how to spell my name Umah, even I can't remember myself as its been so long since i changed it (or posted on this board for that matter.)

Anyway, back to the topic

The forge that agreed to make the sword was:

http://www.raven-armoury.co.uk/ Its a forge in Essex, England

But like Umah said, they want an arm and a leg for it. The cost was £3000-£5000, (Umah you got the US price alittle wrong it works out at about $6000-$10,000).

The £3000 was to have a "NEW" looking sword, while the £5000 price tag was for having an "OLD" looking sword. This is because they would have to specially treat the metal to give it that green colour. They also told me that it would take 2-3 years to make.

I know that it is rather expensive but it would be worth it to anyone who could afford it. It wouldn't just be a normal replica, it would be a proper fully fuctioning sword, that you could happily take into battle (okay, I know thats not important in this day and age, but its nice. I mean, why do things by half?)

Although I can't afford it at the moment, as soon as I come into some money (win the lotto, be left some money by a long lost rich uncle, rob a bank...) I will be getting it made.

Oh and one last thing, the forge said that they needed premission from Eidos/CD to begin making it, this could bump the price up abit as Eidos/CD may want a percentage of the price (its only fair).
Anyway check out the forges Homepage and take a look at some of their other work. They do some beautiful axes.

You did make it here. I had no idea you (new moniker) were (was) you. ;)

I figured I screwed the price up somewhere or another. It's been sooooooo long since that thread was up on the old forum. At least I got some of it right (maybe a little backwards...almost). :p

If (ever) you get the blade made, you must share the pics with us.

It would be cool to have Eidos commission a few of them for collector pieces, but I am doubtful of that happening anytime soon.

If and when i have it made, I will make a site dedicated to it, so that everyone could come and see it. I would just be so proud of it that I would want it show it off to the whole wide world!

*devises plan to steal sword when it's made*

6th Oct 2002, 19:50
*plans on sitting back, relaxing...and stealing sword from Preacher once he has it...*

on a more seroius note...a Blood reaver would be frigin awesome...does anyone have any kewl pics of it? or what the real one would look like?

9th Oct 2002, 06:41
Allow me to make a small contribution.

This might be a little far-fetched, but if you read the article I think you'll agree that this is just perfect (especially with the "powers" attached)

So, if someone is willing to travel to South East Asia (Malaysia or Indonesia) and find a forge.. hmm...
For Indonesia, I think you can find forges in Yogyakarta (Central Java) or Bali.
I can guarantee it's going to be a lot cheaper to make :)

9th Oct 2002, 07:16
Bah, you guys are complicated things..... I have a simple solution for a free Soul Reaver replica :D Simply slip the design in to the people who are doing all the Lord of the Rings swords and stuff and then steal it when it's done (they're all high quality hand made stuff, with the obvious exception of the plastics) :D

11th Oct 2002, 22:41
*changes old plan to accomidate for Anubus's new plan...heehee...im getting the Blood Reaver...

8th Jun 2003, 02:31
We already have replicas of the swords used in Lord Of the Rings on sale to collectors. I wonder if they would be a replica of the Soul Reaver for sale soon. It would be way KOOL!!!

Reaver of Souls
8th Jun 2003, 03:03
There are several threads about this around the SR Forum. Using search will help you find them.

Basically, there aren't any swords for sale but people have talked about getting them made. See those other tgreads for more details.

8th Jun 2003, 03:46
It's too expensive to have them custom made. The cheapest I've seen quoted was about US$1200. That puts it out of the range of almost all fans. Mass production would make them cheaper, but I don't think there's *that* big a market for replica Reavers =).

8th Jun 2003, 06:52
I wonder of these guys can help http://www.a2armory.com/index.html

8th Jun 2003, 09:17
I don't see anything there about custom work. Even if they would make it, expect to pay US$1200-US$3000, based on what I've seen.

It would be cool to be able to buy one, but I doubt it's ever going to happen, unless someone here wins the lottery.

11th Jun 2003, 10:34
Yeah... That's why I decided to make my own Reaver... The only thing missing is the skull :(

12th Jun 2003, 11:02
Yeah, Sent's Blood Reaver turned out really great. I especially liked the way he did the curves.

We could've made the skull together, but the thing that troubled us was the deadline... :(

Heh, I'm having this crazy idea about a swish army knife which has multiple tools and blades on it. Then, you would be surprised when the main blade appears to be a miniature replica of the Reaver. :D

That would be awesome, I'd definately buy it. I seriously love the idea. The other possibility is to have the corkscrew be the reaver, since it requires it not to be a straight blade, but that's not as good as your idea.

Hey, you said a mini Moeb staff. What's a mini-moeb staff without a mini orb as well? Answer: It's a piece of wood. If you want, I can go get a twig and put it where the toothpic normally goes, but it's not quite the same, is it? ;)

Umah Bloodomen
15th Jun 2003, 06:27
Mini-orb = A blue marble.

We're just going to have to up the size of the swiss-army knife. :D

The Amazing Rando
15th Jun 2003, 06:56
Just how big? We're not talking like that SUV in the Snickers commercial, are we (or proportional to it)?

Umah Bloodomen
15th Jun 2003, 06:58
Enough to hold my blue marble, silly. Either that or we keep the size relatively the same, and keep the marble on the outside end of the knife (where you access each tool) and use it to open Moe's staff. I think we've got some marketablity here. :p

The Amazing Rando
15th Jun 2003, 07:06
oooh, the outside to pull it open. That could work, that could work. This is all coming together, it could be a big hit. The outer casing could have a pic of Kain on one side and Raz on the other, with a mini "signature" of Simon & Bell respectively (or Amy or somthing). Now just to solve the problem of the other tools.

Or... we could have multiple knives, for differnet chars or sets of chars where the tools match up witth the char. (ie the Kain knife wouldn't have Moe's staff). They'd be a collector's set. lol

Edit: hey, we wouldn't need a marble, just use a stone from the birth-stone rings. Those can be pretty small if needed.

I think I'll get a job now. Tommarrow.

27th Sep 2003, 16:21
I've been looking for a metalsmith who could make me a replica of the reaver, fully functional, since the release of SR1. Just yesterday, i was trippin with some friends when I came across a small city, where i find a man who could do this for me. Since its a small town, the price is VERY LOW, he asks only R$2500,00 (about 850 USD) for the blade itself and the hilt, built as two separate parts, in tempered steel. He has many swords scattered in his farm, he says that hes been swordsmithing for a long time, and i found the quality of his work just great. If someones interested, in getting a replica too, send me an mail and we could talk about it. Remember its just the blade and the hilt, the skull and the "wings" are not included, since im planning on making then of different materials.

Oh, i almost forgot, its 1,23 meters long, and will take aproximatelly 3 months to finnish, since the process of making the blade looks old is very complicated to be done by hand

12th Oct 2003, 19:17
If I asked that raven guy to make a sword, should it be aged or new? The aged one seems a bit strange, and isn't that what would make it take 2-3 years to make?

16th Oct 2003, 11:31
I have written e-mails to companies for several different fictional blades -- the Reaver (from the Legacy of Kain series), Stormbringer (from the Elric series), and Shadowbane (from Shadowbane).

Stormbringer is the only blade I receied a reply for, years ago, and it was eventually made. I was thrilled.

I've been collecting swords for quite awhile now, and ever since Soul Reaver, I've been eyeballing that sword. It'd be so cool if a company like Windlass Steelcrafts made replicas.

they deal a lot of swords on www.museumreplicas.com , all which are either historically correct, or as close as they can get to fantasy weaponry. They've replicated Thor's hammer, the Lord of the Rings weaponry, Monty Python and the Holy Grail helmets, and so on.

I don't know if I'm the only person here who'd really want to own a replica of the Soul Reaver blade (technically the Blood Reaver, lol). I've seen some historically correct models that prove that the blade is possible to make, ( take a look at the Two-Handed Flamberge or the Fighting Two-Handed Sword).

Who's up for it..whether it be a letter opener, a half sized one, or even a full sized one (I'd assume it'd be 5 feet in length, btw)

30th Nov 2003, 03:30
It would be cool, but i dont know if legacy of kain is popular enuff to warrant the cost to make a sword.

Stone Cold

A full-sized replica would rock.
But Fallen has a point about LoK's popularity.

Still, wou might never know what the future may hold in store for us.

30th Nov 2003, 14:40
well I think it would be cool for a full size one but I wouldn't buy it TBH. I don't like the soul reaver. I guess if it was cheap enough I'd buy it because it's the soul reaver, but I don't like the design of the sword really compared to many others.

I'm happy with my replica of the conan sword from the first movie :D

30th Nov 2003, 23:53
I personally love the Reaver's design,it'd look very awesome next to my 5 foot claymore..I want another long sword in my room, as opposed to the normal sized ones I got hanging up there.

I honestly don't think its the popularity that really concerns Windlass Steelcrafts when they replicate swords. I know that they love the challenge of making a fantasy blade not only beautiful, yet practical. They've made blades from fantasy series I have never heard of, and I bought this one called the Eye of Valor because it seemed sleek and well balanced, and I was right.

I guess by saying this, I'm feeling what Kain felt at the end of Defiance, you know, feeling hope

Stone Cold

I would love to have it as well.
But Anduril and Strider's Ranger Sword from The Lord of The Rings have priority. LOL

The blade of the Soul Reaver is really special, and the skull just oozes awesomeness.
It's only a shame that there isn't a skull on the other side as well.

1st Dec 2003, 16:07
If it was within my financial reach, I would certainly buy it.

2nd Dec 2003, 05:53
That'd be cool if this became a reality.

11th Dec 2003, 02:08
I seriously have faith with Windlass Steelcrafts, they love being up for a challenge...It'd be so cool if we could get people to get them to consider being up for the challenge........

..so we can have the privelege of shouting VAE VICTUS!

21st Dec 2003, 18:26
yeah having a life size soul reaver would be  . bye-bye my dear enemies ( not you guys of the forums. i have tons of enemies where i live.) your souls are mine for the keeping. hahahaha.:D

7th Jan 2004, 00:57
Hello, Im an Avid Fan of the Legacy of Kain Series, But i had a question that i was hoping someone could answer, and for a change it isn't about the story, i understand that for the most My question is about the Blade itself.

Does anyone know of a place that sells a replica of the blade? I would like to say i actually Have a replica of the blade. I checked a few sites online that sold sword replicas like the Buster sword from Final fantasy and Virtually EVERY weapon from the Lord of the Rings. But No Soul Reaver anywhere. Can anyone help me?

7th Jan 2004, 01:04
on nosgoth.net forums there was a guy who could make a custom one for about 500 bucks, ben lincoln also found someone in england that made a few for 1000 a piece. he like many obviously didnt get them for the price.

personaly, ive made a cheap wooden one, and am currently working on a better looking sheet metal version. im almost done, but i need to find a suitible size ceramic skull for it. other than that i have the blade that has the servy shape, the 4 points that are on the skull and the hilt. i just need a skull that looks cose enough to it. i plan on cutting it in half, then cutting the jaw of and painting it wall a "dirty" goldish brass color to look like it,but man i still need the Skull!

7th Jan 2004, 01:07
Well thank you very much for your help, I was wondering though, if anyone had any pics of the finished products as well? if its not too much to ask that is.
I will certainly take a look at the nosgoth forums for that info.

7th Jan 2004, 01:12
arg this skull onm this sword would be perfect. if only it wernt 150 buclks, ans attached to a sword already.

7th Jan 2004, 01:14
saw it again for 75. still to expensive though

7th Jan 2004, 01:15
Yeah, the skull on that is pretty close, the only thing that needs to be changed on that one is the shape of the bones coming from the center. Again, it is too bad that there is already a sword attached to it. :(

7th Jan 2004, 01:20
actualy i just found out from other pic that the 4 bones comeout as knives. man i so want that now. it would be so perfect. i could just slide the four points into thouse slots. the hilts not too far off either and i could just use that.

7th Jan 2004, 01:36
Actually thats not abad idea, the daggers could be simply cast aside (or if you could find a way to change their handles to the Soulreaver Bone shards that would be even better" to leave room to redesign the whole thing. Not perfectly, but close enough

7th Jan 2004, 14:13
Now that's a thing I must have, a Soul Reaver :D . Say...if I was to make/order one, what are its measurements? Does anyone know? I could try to compare it to Kain (supposing he has 1.90 m).

8th Jan 2004, 01:42
The measurements should be as follows :

Blade length- 3 1/2 -4 feet (given Kain is 7 foot tall)
Width(blade face) -6 in at base
Hilt-1 1/2 feet w/ Skull emblem.

I know a little bit about swords but putting into words is difficult. The hardest part of this whole thing is finding a place that has them or a bladesmith willing to MAKE the sword for a cheap enough cost.

Oh well. Guess its time to invest in a Black-Smith.

Nosgothic Aristocrat
10th Jan 2004, 20:02
75 bucks is not expensive, 500 bucks might be though...ah the heck with it, even if it's 200,000 bucks it's worth it.

20th May 2004, 02:39
Does anyone know where I could possibly get a replica of the Soul Reaver sword? It would look so awesome in my living room.

20th May 2004, 05:38
First, get a blast furnace, a bench grinder, a hammer, and a belt sander...

Kidding. Someone else had a thread about that already, but I'm too lazy to look it up. Pester United Cutlery to make a SR replica. They make all sorts of fantasy swords. If enough people do it, they may decide to make it. Be warned that it'll probably cost between $100 and $200.

22nd May 2004, 04:09
Man, I want that blade. But I got a question, what's the differance between the Blood reaver and the soul reaver(I don't mean one drains blood, I mean what is the actual physical differance?) Also, I'd like to see someone make the wraith blade, although it's probally impossible...

22nd May 2004, 15:27
If we all pool together we could buy one. However i was thinking wouldn't it be a bit heavy i mean it is quite thick.

21st Feb 2007, 20:13
i found two reaver replica's in my oppinion they look good, but they could be more acurate, if the make the skull more roundend i like the one with the red eyes the best. but they don't look alike they are very differnt from each other. they do't look alike. i found these by searching google for the word reaver on pichture search. i found this site

and another site withe looks sort of the same replica:

here is another replica
i think in my opinion anyway this is the best so far

hope this helps you all

23rd Feb 2007, 00:25
Wow, are any of these things licensed? I'm thinking *not.* Before going bankrupt, United Cutlery went through some negotiations with Eidos to actually get the license. I do not believe it's been given out to anyone else. Bad form, all of these companies.

They aren't accurate at all. As a sword in general, all but the last one might be ok. The last one is bent. The skulls aren't even close, obviously, with the last one looking like some bat's skull with those huge ridiculous eyes. NONE of them are the Soul Reaver. They might be a Vorador-like sword at best, but they are crap compared to the actual Soul Reaver.

23rd Feb 2007, 08:11
guys, remember that dude on nosgoth realm who was making a replica. I think the hilt and the skull which he made was astounding...amazing detail. If only he would resurface and finish the sword, get licensed from eidos....we would all be sooo happy!
