I have been waiting Drakengard 3 a long time . please answer my question

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavia_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavia_)(company) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavia_(company))

"In July 2010, it was officially announced that the company would be disbanded and absorbed into AQ Interactive. The company would henceforth stop developing games, with Nier which it released in May 2010 being the last game developed by Cavia."

Drakengard was developed (i.e. made) by Cavia. Cavia no longer exists.

Technically, Drakengard 3 was a game for the PS3/360 called Nier. It takes place after Ending E of Drakengard.

The story of Drakengard ended with Nier. Squaresoft is making a game called Drakerider, but so far seems completely unrelated to Drakengard.

So, uh, whoa O_O

Already 60% complete. Wonder if we'll see anything at E3, or is TGS more realistic?

Truthfully, I'm sort ambivalent about Drakengard. I only played a little of the first game and I didn't really get into it, but it's the same people that made NieR (which I loved a lot), so I wanna give the game a chance, you know?

Thoughts?

“It’s not Drakenguard or Nier,” said creative director Yoko Taro. “If you’re expecting that, you’ll be disappointed.”

I wonder how different it will be.

Just by curiosity Will DRAKENGARD 3 Receive Localization (NA,EU,etc)?

ZyzxxInfinity
30th Mar 2013, 03:00
I'm speaking with some of the devs to get more info, and to help push for localization (please check out my thread so that we can show Square Enix how much we want the game, just like Drakengard and Nier: na.square-enix.com/go/thread/view/139251... (http://na.square-enix.com/go/thread/view/139251/29832193/Official_Request_Thread_to_Localize_Drakengard_3)), but in the meantime I hope any of you that enjoyed the soundtrack of Nier can take a moment and reply/retweet/favorite/etc. this...

t.co/mu7ToHON0Q (http://t.co/mu7ToHON0Q)

Emi Evans is the vocalist for the tracks in Nier. She has a wonderful voice, and I have known her for a while now. I asked her in the past if she could ever "cover" the song "Growing Wings", and now is her chance to do so officially! If anyone deserves the chance to sing a new rendition of the song for Drakengard 3, it's her! Plus, she has worked with Keiichi Okabe (the composer of Nier and Drakengard 3) in the past, so it's an easy reference!

I don't think I'm alone when I say a major part of the emotion felt in each of the games in this series is the music, and Emi certainly did an amazing job being able to deliver that emotion straight to our heart in some of those scenes (www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5xZbJDZZo4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5xZbJDZZo4)), and if there's going to be any vocal tracks at all for the game (hopefully at least "Growing Wings"), she should be the one to do them!

Some interesting stuff. NieR really was considered a Drakengard title to some of the staff. Really should play those games sometime soon to see the easter eggs in NieR then...

Although it's a little amusing how they go on to talk about wanting to do different character designs from NieR. Zero immediately reminded me of Kaine, ESPECIALLY because of the flower xD

After learning more about Zero and the other characters in the last while, I really wanna play the story to see how everything will eventually unfold. I wonder if there's a way to convince Square Enix to get this out in English some how (would be amazing if they do so without any censorship; the series is *****ed up, we get it xD). It's supposedly stand alone from what I understand. I think the series also isn't a heavy performer, so it's NOT expected to move millions of units.

Barring that, an Asian version with English support >_>

Square Enix Europe and North America should not censor it. If the Japan version approves of whatever content it has, the other regions should allow it as well. There are rating labels for a reason, and the industry has matured. PR and marketing itself in the west has yet to mature and understand mature games for mature people. Not to mention things such as freedom of speech and expression. An art should not be censored due to the incapability of ignorance to understand and accept it.

Books, movies and music can express anything and be about anything, videogames should be allowed to express the story, interaction and themes it wants to express.

Square Enix Europe and North America should not censor Drakengard 3. If the Japan version approves of whatever content it has, the other regions should allow it as well. There are age rating labels for a reason, and the industry has matured more than ever before, it's just that some companies have yet to acknowledge that. PR and marketing itself in the west has yet to mature and understand mature games for mature people. An art should not be censored due to the incapability of childish ignorance to understand and accept things outside of their culture and opinions.

Books, movies and music can express anything and be about anything, videogames can also express the story, interaction, thoughts, situations and themes it wants to express.

http://www.polygon.com/2013/10/9/4821742/drakengard-3-was-developed-with-mature-jrpg-players-in-mind-says

Our core users — mature JRPG players — want something authentic, they don't want any changes. As long as we don't upset our PR and Marketing teams or our European audience, we want to keep it authentic.

It has been a problem in Japan before, too; it's been criticized every time. We're intentional with our content. This is a unique franchise that has a dedicated audience because of what it is. We wanted to keep it close to what it's supposed to be.

We're aware that North America also tends to be sensitive, but again: we have to keep it authentic. That's what fans want."

Censorship only masks the realities that people are already aware of in the world, and sensitivity is the shadow of ignorance.
Something that is clearly intended for mature individuals does not need to be censored. Censorship weakens the delivery of the
art, the design/expression of the art, betrays the original nature of the art, personalities and story. There hasn't been a single game that benefitted from censorship, if anything, censorship only causes society to remain closed minded, sensitive and insecure to what are natural parts of humanity. Until the PR/marketing of companies understand that, they have yet to become mature themselves towards mature content, and therefore would cause more people to buy the Japanese/uncensored version.

So if a company is insecure about mature content, and would be so childish to censor mature content, how would they gain the respect
and support from more people that already reached the level of maturity (as well as those that are mature beyond their years); people that are not insecure toward the mature aspects of humanity and mature levels of storytelling, character interaction, and themes? It isn't good business treating all consumers like children.

Here is one recent example how censorship is entirely overrated and does not benefit sales at all, no matter the level of violence, sex, or psychological behavior.

http://www.dailyfinance.com/2013/09/28/gta-5-sales-hit-1-billion/

As controversial and culture contradicting as videogames can get, it is entertainment like any other medium in the world.
So why would Square-Enix censor, why would Square Enix even think of dumbing down the original intent, the art of the storytelling and the original complete literal expression of Drakengard 3? It contradicts the nature of the business, which is to make money, and censorship results in less money, not more, especially for something that is already rated Mature. If anything, a game with a Mature rating is entitled to be mature.

This is a reminder that Drakengard 3 can sell successfully in North America and Europe without censoring things. Instead of weakening
the delivery of the story, characters, scenes, gameplay and themes, Square Enix should focus on promoting Drakengard 3 with OPTIMISM and CONFIDENCE on its original state, its original expression of itself. :)

What will really determine Drakengard 3's success, is how much faith and constant promotional support Square Enix gives it, to remind people (monthly and then weekly as release nears) that THIS is the game they want to buy and play above all else.
Other companies in the industry have shown that every game they release, they treat it as the greatest game in the world. Those companies with PR and Marketing staff that promote it with confidence and tenacity, instead of insecurities, are more likely to earn more success, sales, respect and fans, as a result of being FAITHFUL to the original art / original expression of the game. :)

Drakengard 3 doesn't need to be a Final Fantasy to earn success in the west, Uncensored localization and positive tenacious promotion in all corners, will remind the industry that this is the #1 game to be excited for. This is a story that deserves to be fully expressed. This is the most refreshing flavor of entertainment that treats adults like adults, instead of children. This is the most meaningful experience that mature people will cherish and want to play again. Only with that attitude, can Square Enix begin to build greater success for DRAKENGARD 3 in all regions.

I'm trying to find an official response from Square-Enix as well regarding the EU release. look, I can understand that there are reasons why the US is getting a retail release and the EU isn't. However, not shipping the collector's edition to the EU is a more questionable move. But worst of all is the DLC. The three pre-order incentives and "free" DLC are apparently for the US only? There's no excuse here not to give these to EU customers. We can't even preorder the game if we wanted to.

My response is not buying any Square Enix products in the foreseeable future unless they take action before the game releases. Any excitement i had for this game has been evaporated due to this terrible treatment of the PAL region and their complete unwillingness to fix the situation while they are continuing to give more and more Drakengard 3 stuff to the US like free DLC and collectors editions.

Lets face it. They had plenty of time to prepare a small print run of Drakengard 3 disks and put up a similar pre-order promotion for the EU since the announcement but instead they are taking no action at all to please the European fans. IMO this is unacceptable.

Hey guys, sorry for making a thread even though there's already a Drakengard thread up, but I wanted to make this thread in case others were curious as well. As you all know, the Japanese voice DLC was available before March 4th, however I'm sure a lot of people missed it and wants the DLC, so I was wondering if anyone knows if they will release the DLC after the game is released?

Draikin
17th Mar 2014, 21:35
The Japanese voice DLC was only available before March 4th for the US. In the EU there's been no word on the DLC at all, and Square-Enix EU refuses to comment on the situation. So at this point all we know is the EU is getting the digital version of the game with no extra's. For the US version, it's been confirmed the Japanese voice-over DLC would be available for purchase after the game is released for those that missed the pre-order window. If Square-Enix EU cares at all about their fans, they'll do something to make sure the DLC that is offered for free in the US is also offered to the people that buy the digital EU version. Or they could just make it even more clear what they think about their EU fans releasing the DLC alongside the full game and ask more money for it. I wouldn't even be surprised anymore if that happened.

Yukinaa
18th Mar 2014, 08:19
Thank god, I really want the Japanese voice over even if I have to purchase the DLC.. And yeah, it sucks that EU can only get the game via digital download, with no extras, I hope they'll change the way they market things, because EU are customers too so they should receive the same benefits.

I recently found out that this game is coming out and I was looking to pick it up but I have come to understand that Japanese VO dlc is exclusive to a pre-order event that ended in March. Is this true and will this dlc not be made available upon or after the game's release? If so, I think will pass on this game as it seems pretty stupid to lock something like this behind a pre-order perk and not even a perk that everyone who pre-orders gets.

I pre-ordered Drakengard 3 (regular edition) on Dec 19, 2013. I now have the game but it did not come with any DLC codes. I checked my e-mails and have yet to receive any codes as well. I contacted the S-E store support option several times but have not gotten a response back yet. What is the best way to get any response at all? Very disappointed that I helped support this game so early and now am not getting any support for it. The DLC that was listed on the S-E website as free to anyone who pre-ordered the game before it released in the US.

Hi,
From what I understand, there is a physical copy of Drakengard 3 available in North America, but it won't be available in Europe or Australia. I wanted to show my displeasure at this because I live in Australia, and have a slow network speed, meaning it will take a long time for the game to download the digital edition. I love the Drakengard series, and can't wait to play the new one. I'm sure I'm not the only person annoyed at the fact that there is not a physical copy available in these places. Please Square Enix, make one. It will probably double your game sales.

The game seems to have a bug which causes the Japanese Voice option not to appear. Normally, you'd find it in the Costumes/DLC menu. The US version apparently had a patch on day one that fixed this problem, but the EU version did not have a patch.

Smooth Square-Enix EU, smooth. Once again they shown how much they care about EU. Not to mention that we still miss a ton of PS1 classics on EU PSN that are available on US PSN, like Chrono Cross, Threads of Fate, Xenogears and so on.

Not that it matter to me, having the PS3 40GB model from 2007 I don't have enough space to download and install both the game and the DLC so I'm stuck with the english voices regardless. This problem would not exist if there had been a physical release.

My CE hasn't arrived yet (I'm from Germany and supposedly it was shipped out the evening before release day), and by now I kinda regret ordering it...especially because I just saw this: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/707565-drakengard-3/69269651#23
So, that US digital CE includes all the DLC from the EU CE, plus the Nier costume, PLUS six themes, and on top of that it's cheaper than the EU CE. Of course the "physical" CE includes a pretty box, the novel and a soundtrack sample, but come on, why don't we at least get the Nier costume and the themes? We didn't get a disc version, so some more DLC wouldn't have hurt...:/

Also, I really don't understand why the Japanese voice DLC issue hasn't been fixed yet. The US version got a fix day one, so why can't we?
Does anyone know how switching languages works in the US version? Can you switch mid-game like it is with most games, or only on a new playthrough (Fable III and Danganronpa did this, for example)? If the former is the case, then I won't mind playing in English until the Japanese voices work. I'm just worried I won't be able to switch later...

Edit: Yay, it finally arrived:) I have to say that the box is really beautiful, and I also like the design of the novel. My only gripes are still that there's no disc version, and that the CE doesn't include all the DLC the US version got. Anyway, off to start the (probably painfully long) download^^

contacted support not very helpfull have alook.

You: Hi there got a copy of Drakengard 3 CE from your store yesterday however in Europe your JPN Audio DLC is broken
You: and it is been reporting by alot of people on your forums
You: when will this be fixed? since there should be a option to change the audio within audio settings on title screen but its not
You: http://forums.eu.square-enix.com/showthread.php?t=13416&p=102171#post102171 is other people reporting the problem also
You: the US version got a day 1 patch to fix this issue but us in the EU have not
SEE Agent Cato: this is not related to the patch, the EU version was already updated before release
You: Then can you tell me why the JPN audio is not working?
SEE Agent Cato: we are looking into this issue at the moment, however, to solve this it has to be installed in a specific way
SEE Agent Cato: please delete all files related to Drakengard and re install the game, then install the DLC
You: That is quite tricky specialy when its 15gb for game then 10gb for audio
You: makes you think if should of went with disk instead
You: Is this a 100% fix then? does it work
SEE Agent Cato: there is no EU disk version
You: course not but you should off thought of doing it and not having these problems
SEE Agent Cato: we understand this is tricky and inconvenient and we apologise for the issue
SEE Agent Cato: however, at the moment we have no other fix, until our team has finished investigating this further
You: Payed 59.99 for the EN edition its quite bad that there is issues like frame rate drops and stuttering again which US got a fix for
You: So has it been proven to work if I redownload the game again for 9 hours
You: to reinstall the game then audioo
SEE Agent Cato: the US had a disk version that got a patch, the EU version was updated before release, they should be the same
SEE Agent Cato: this is the information we have from Head Office for a fix for the moment

They tell us to uninstall the game and re download

Hi SquareEnix,

I have noticed really big issues with Drakengard 3, I cannot play my game with japanese voices. I paid for it and i want it. Otherwise I want a refund. You are trying to avoid question with bad answers, like: redownload the game and reinstall, delete the dlc, but it's impossible to do it without deleting the entire game. Once you've got the japanese dlc, he merges with the game. So, it's not you who's paying for the internet too, we're not talking about 2GB but 25GB.
Stop lying bring me real answer.
I preordered Drakengard 3 for only and one reason japanese DLC. Like a i said, i paid for it, i want it. This is my absolut right to claim. Otherwise i want a refund. This is NOT a request, I WANT AN IMMEDIAT SATISFACTION

I haven't had time to play the game until now (partially due to how long it took to download the 25GB and install it), and I'm experiencing the same issue with the Japanese dialogue option not being available. Seems that SE's claims that the patch was preinstalled for the EU download are simply false. The version still lists 1.00 for me and the fact that the dialogue option is not available suggests the game is indeed completely unpatched. I should have known better to buy the game, given the already terrible way the EU release was managed before release.

The main problem is not only the japanese voices, but that the game is glichted in the 1.00 version and you cannot get a certain trophy and a certain ending because of that according to some ppl - which is a joke since the game is basically broken for us EU players. Additionally 1.00 is supposed to be much laggier than the patched US version.

I'm quite positive they won't ever fix this, at least not with a patch . I really hope they do, but I'm kinda sceptical. Releasing a patch for the EU version is probably too expensive in comparison to the sales. There have been similar examples of smaller games with big glitches that were never fixed because of the costs. Maybe with more DLCs, but who knows if the sales warrant EU DLC releases.

And some people say that you cannot even "finish" it right now without the patch, which is the main reason I haven't started playing it. I could somehow live without the japanese voices, but not with a buggy trophy or even ending (?). This is quite laughable nowadays, to release a game in such a state that is REALLY is broken.

So I'm still waiting for confirmation if some ppl were able to fully complete the EU release or not. Don't want to start and than hit a wall ...

Dark_Shiva144
23rd May 2014, 21:49
Damn, I really hope you're wrong about that. And if you are right, they would have to offer refunds to everyone, because the current state of the game is unacceptable. Well, at least if it does have the same bugs as the pre-patch Japanese and US versions. Apparently, you couldn't get all of the endings, and some weapons were also glitched/unobtainable. And tbh, I don't see why it should NOT have these bugs. It's completely unpatched, so naturally it will have all of the issues the other versions had pre-patch.
I'm also kind of worried that I might not even be able to get a refund. Since I bought the CE, I obviously can't ask Sony for a refund (which would have been the easy way, from what I've read) since I didn't buy the game from the PS Store. And I'm not so sure SEE will be as cooperative as Sony about this, even though people who got the CE have even more reason to complain since they paid even more for a game that's not working properly.

This is a sad situation, and it really makes me dislike SEE. The lack of any official statements about the issue also doesn't give the impression that this will have a happy ending-.-

The worst happened actually, the NA japanese voices pack patch isn't complete and miss an extremely important part of the collector pack, the Japanese voices don't work for the One DLC chapters which is included on the CE version. This will be probably the same for the next DLC scenario coming for the other sisters..

If they don't correct that, I'll ask for a refund too, this is not normal to give a half assed product... really this make me mad now..

So is there a patch for this game that actually fixes this laggy piece of crap that it is right now? I mean 30fps is not a problem tho a game like this should easily hit 60. But sub 20 in the middle of the fights with frame skipping makes controls unresponsive. Blocking and even dodging is almost impossible to pull off. And this happens when fighting one enemy and even sometimes when you hit a box...trying to aim during flying mission when your sights are warping around is just undoable. I dont even have the standard HDD anymore but a SSHD drive so its not that. I mean games like vanquish, metro, dragons dogma run fine from it and they all look better. How this even made it past quality control is a mystery...

So again is there a patch that makes this playable anytime soon or should i just get a refund? Cause i am enjoying the story, too bad there is actually a "slideshow of combat" in between.

I gave Square a chance with this game after the complete disappointment that was Lightning Returns. Can't say Drakengard 3 has given me a reason to ever buy a Square product again; graphics are horrendously outdated. It's laggy as **** and its FPS is appalling. The voice acting is bad, I hold Square to a higher standard than using the same old ******* voice actors I'm tired of hearing, i hated Dito before they gave him Yuri Lowenthalls whiny ass ***** voice and it doesn't help that he still talks even after I've kicked him out of my team. No-ones elses voices are any better and the atrocious lip-syncing only furthers that. They still haven't fixed the ******* Japanese voice pack issue and at this point I'm kind of hoping they won't just so I have a reason to send it back, it really doesn't justify paying £60. Also the game is just...not that fun. I'm partly the blame for that last one due to my going into it with the mindset that it was going to be like Nier, but between shoddy gameplay and side quests that are obnoxiously hard for no apparent reason I am finding more enjoyment playing Half Minute Hero and getting worryingly less frustrated; if you've played that games 3-second hero mode, you'll see why this is a problem.
Just a further inquiry I've noticed that there are DLC trophies, meaning that they have prepped the game for a further DLC and I hear it's free for the NA collectors edition. Do Europe get that as well? Because expecting us to pay extra when we've already paid £60 for a half assed game would be taking the absolute piss.

[Edit] Also while this is more of a personal thing and obviously not the sole reason I bought this game; Square, what the hell is up with that baby head for Mikhael? I'm not expecting anything super amazing or anything, but that thing was just naff. I like extra costumes, I do, but if an extra costume is so garbage I'd rather use the original, doesn't that tell you that maybe you could have put a tad more effort in? Who would want that?

Yeah, I feel the same way. But I got a reply to my email earlier (I wrote to them complaining about the situation, and said I might want a refund depending on how/if the situation is resolved), and basically the SEE employee told me that they're sorry and they're working on resolving the issues. They also said if I really want a refund, they need my PSN account email address, my CE order number, and the game's registration code, and once they have that they will determine whether I can get a refund or not.
Oddly enough, I don't really know what I want to do anymore. I started playing the game yesterday even though I really wanted to wait for the Japanese voices to work. I'm OK with the English voices so far, and I'm enjoying the story. The gameplay is good, but the frame rate drops are kind of painful sometimes, especially when Mikhail is flying around breathing fire. Still, as long as I don't run into any game-breaking bugs (e.g. the ones where you can't obtain all weapons and/or endings), I think I actually just want to keep playing.
Sending the game in now and getting a refund would mean waiting even longer till I can finally play it, and on top of that if I got the US version, my save file and Trophies would all be incompatible. On the other hand, I can't stand the way SEE is (not) handling this, and I do feel ripped off. I wish thay'd just release some official statement and promise all of us some kind of compensation (free DLC costumes or a €10 refund, something like that).

Well, I still need to decide on what to do, but right now I'm leaning towards keeping the game because I've had enough of waiting. I'm happy they at least took the time to actually reply to my message, instead of sending me a copy-paste answer (which I was totally expecting, tbh).

Good day! All greetings from Moscow! I followed the release of this game since its announcement and was terribly disappointed when in PSN was reported that this game will not be available in Russia, "according to the developers." Of course, I will buy the European edition, as waiting for this game since its announcement in Japan. However, I would like to know why Russia does not satisfy the requirements of developers? There are a lot of fans of the Japanese gaming industry in Russia and I do not understand the decision not to sell the game here. Does anyone know anything about this situation? It has already been proven it doesn't work, and it's still a 9Gb download to do again, some people have a limited data cap . We don't expect some workaround, we want a patch that resolve things once and for all.

Perhaps this (http://eu.square-enix.com/en/blog/drakengard-3-collector%E2%80%99s-edition-news#comment-116471#comment-116390) might fix the DLC issue?

This excuse has been fobbed off to everyone and it doesn't work. On top of that I can't seem to progress any further in the game due to it's appalling frame rate at a certain bit where I have to fight loads of enemies plus some big ones. I can't believe the most enjoyment I've got from my purchase so far was reading the damn book. I'm not waiting around for them to sort this. If it's not sorted by next week I'll be having words.

Uhm... I don't know if this kind of issue has bin mentioned before... But I've purchased a digital copy of Drakengard 3 from the EU PSN store a few days ago... It's not showing any color on my old PAL tv... The game is supposed to be 720 HD PAL (says so in the PSN shop description), just like all the other games I play perfectly fine in color without any issues... But for some reason it's showing the same issues as if I where trying to play a US game on my TV (black&white screen with little disturbances in the image)... I currently have to use mom's flat region-free tv to be able to play Drakengard 3 in color... This is the only game I have this issue with... I've tried every available image setting and nothing solves it...

It might be a little far-fetched... But I think there might be a possibility that they accidentally put the US version on the EU PSN store without knowing... Which might also explain the current issue of certain DLC not working as it's made for the PAL version of the game... Just a little theory though so don't hit me if I'm wrong for thinking something like this being possible... ^^;

Drakengard had multiple endings because Taro Yoko was told there wouldn't be a sequel (http://www.siliconera.com/2014/05/29/drakengard-multiple-endings-taro-yoko-told-wouldnt-sequel/)
(Siliconera)
― when Taro Yoko, creative director of Drakengard 3, made the original PlayStation 2 game that started the series, he was told it would be a one-off game.

Interesting theory, but it wouldn't explain how all the other dlc like the Kaim outfit and BGM work, and the only the Japanese voice pack doesn't. It just sounds to me like your TV is just too old. :p

Well, some DLC would work regardless of region... At least, I think... And yeah, my tv is old... It's ancient enough to have a built-in VHS player... :p But it's a great tv for playing my PS2, GameCube, and Wii... And it works perfectly with the PS3 as well (aside from Drakengard 3 that is)...

Usually, most DLC is region-locked nowadays. If one DLC item is locked, I don't think there's a chance other DLCs for the same game won't be. I could be wrong, of course. Still, I'm inclined to believe it's your TV, like others have said already;)

Maybe they messed up some DLC's too? Well, at least it's just one game I won't be able to play once I move out unless I'm getting one of those flat fragile thingy's with crappy SD quality... :o

Even so, I'm just too curious to just leave this alone... In the theory that it should be my TV suddenly having trouble playing a PAL game, are there any specific Demo's or something I can try out that are known for showing the same result? I've played/tried out every single game I own, along with the Final Fantasy XIII-3 demo, but so far everything's working just fine... I also don't think it's a GHz thing cause The Last Story on the Wii also required a 60 GHz settings and it didn't gave me any trouble either... I'm kinda running out of ideas here...

I read somewhere online that they're still working on it... If the info I read is correct, the issue is somewhat different from the issue the US version had... Everything seems to work fine on SE's end... But it goes wrong the moment it goes through PSN... I know how much it sucks to wait but you gotta give ppl some time to locate and fix the problem... It's kinda hard to fix something if you don't know what's causing the problem in the 1st place... I'm sure they're working on it as hard as they can right now... :)

Wow, this shows how much collector's edition buyers in Europe are screwed. Choppy frame rate, Japanese voices DLC not working, and the pack for DLC chapters at 30€, when One's chapter was included with collector's edition, wich means you don't save money with the pack and even have to buy One's chapter when you already have it. This is ridiculous and it seems no one care about us now that they have our money. Seriously why aren't there any more people angry about that?!

Since it actually adds some additional plot and extra gameplay... BTW, does this mean the game is finally updated and has it's issues solved?

Other people have reported the audio completely turning off after the first few dialogues; It only happened to a handful of people in both europe and US, but no one who got the game release date, which makes me think of it as a glitch in the second run. Japanese audio still works for US copies, but it won't for dlcs since it is not included.
The second to last cutscene in the Zero story DLC freezes the console completely forcing you to reset it, this only in europe. Apparently it happens to everyone, but you can skip it to get the final one and the ending (the one you are supposed to skip is the one where zero speaks over a black screen.
I personally tested de-installing and re-installing from the in-game menu but it changed nothing.
Also yes the japanese audio dlc still doesen't work in europe.

Somehow this seems to be getting worse instead of better.

So... Still no news, huh? I guess they're kinda busy with the whole E3 thing atm... But still, a status update or something would've bin nice...

I kinda plan on buying the DLC chapters sooner or later but right now I'm not buying anything until stuff get's fixed... The game and it's DLC is pricey enough so for that money I at least expect everything to work as it should... Paying €30 for the DLC chapters while 1 of the DLC chapters completely freezes up the system is not something I intend to do, no matter how much I love Drakengard... I'm just glad I didn't purchased them the moment they came out and had to find out the hard way...

That and I'm also still hoping the patch will somehow also fix why the game is showing up colorless like a US game so I can play it more then like 2 hours a week... ^^;

As with any item, the store you bought it from.

YunaSama

As with any item, the store you bought it from.

I'm not too sure about that... Stores generally don't take responsibility for issues within a game... And if they do give refunds it can usually only be done within 2 days after purchasing if opened/used as far as I'm aware of (unopened/unused can usually be returned within 2 weeks)... I bought Pokémon X from a store here while the Lumoise City save glitch was still going on... The guy specifically warned me I wouldn't be able to get a refund for the game, which was fine in my case since I already knew about the glitch and the patch being made...

I'm afraid you'll really have to keep bugging SE for this... If they keep things broken for too long, they'll have to give out refunds eventually before ppl start making petitions and cases of this matter though... Selling something broken and then run off with the money without ever fixing it is still illegal even when if comes to software after all...

Alestes

SE (or any other company) will never do a refund, ever. It's not their responsibility, it's the store that got your money and it's the store who will pay it back. Some year ago Apple was forced to pay back a lot of money to people because of in-app purchases even though it wasn't their apps. The fact the apps were bought from the Apple App Store was all that mattered.

All best, the only thing SE will do is to exchange the broken copy with a new copy (unless you bought it from the SE Store of course), which is not possible with downloaded games. We, the customers, are pretty much screwed in this digital age, and yet there are many who embrace it.

Update on EU / PAL activation error with JP VO DLC.
After failing to detect the issue through all conventional testing with SONY Europe, the issue is now being investigated by SONY Japan and the Development team at Square Enix Japan.
Due to the size of the downloads (game + DLC) it has been taking a full day to delete and re-install the code each time the game is tested which has resulted in a long wait, for which we are very sorry.
Normally an issue like this can be identified quickly and a fix installed but unfortunately we have not been able to identify the problem so far.
We hope to be bring you further updates tomorrow (FRIDAY 20th), until then we thank you for bearing with us and we very much apologise for the delay in being able to deliver a solution.

The game is broken well beyond just the Japanese audio, and while it's a relief to finally see something being done about it, it's just too little too late imo. I actually kinda like the game itself... If only they had putten more time and effort in it... The story and characters are nice and really funny at some points, the gameplay is fun... I even enjoy the colorful yet slightly outdated graphics... It really could've bin a great game if done properly... :)

The down-sides would be the crappy framerate, graphical glitches every now and then, the fact that the game isn't actually working as a PAL game, broken DLC to the point where Zero's chapter just freezes up the system at the end, the fact that the ppl who bough the Jap voices DLC never got their money's worth... And personally, I wouldn't really have minded it if they censored some of the conversations between the characters a bit... Even as a lady, I'm really not waiting to hear all about Octa's boners all the freaking time (and out of all the games I have, this just HAD to be the one I have no choice but to play in the living room due to not working on my PAL tv)...

Well yea, but can't the same be said about most bad games? That they had squandered potential? Even as a hater I'm willing to acknowledge the game had it's good points: The Music was great, very similar to Niers and the story, if I had the option to finish the blasted thing was going the right way to be something special. However the bads greatly outweigh the goods of this game. I absolutely despised the characters bar Mikhail. They were overly rude 1 dimensional tools, constantly talking smut and that took a lot away from the game and made it seem shallow. Pathetic even.
Yea it could have been great, but it wasn't.

Ah yes, the music... How could I forget to mention that... It is the games' strongest point after all...

It's sad how this game has more bad then good points... I completely agree... No matter how much I enjoy playing this game despite it's faults, €50 for a broken game like this is WAY too expensive (aside from the fact it's pretty short too)... This game is worth €20 at most... And maybe €10 for all the DLC chapters... At least then I'd feel like I'd actually gotten my money's worth... :(

It's worth zilch if it breaks and doesn't work. Seriously I'm not kidding when I say I agree with you as far as the games being worth 20 Euros is concerned purely because that was the price of the Soundtrack and thus the only good thing about it. I mean I hated Lightning Returns, but at least that game bloody worked so I had to bite my tongue on that one. Drakengard is unforgivable. Also I begrudge paying any amount of money for DLC that North America got with their Collectors Edition at no extra charge, but we have to pay ****loads for even though we've been the ones mostly screwed over by this fiasco.

Yeah like, I'm kinda starting to give up on this game... I already wrapped up the game after completing 3/4 ending last week (didn't feel like hunting after all the weapons, especially since I can only play this game on the living room tv when I'm home alone due to the game not working as PAL on my own tv)... As much as I like the game, I'm really considering to just watch/read the prologue stuff online... The main game, as fun as it is, was not worth the €50... And I'm certainly not paying another €30 when one of the 6 chapters is broken to a point where it freezes up the system...

Seriously, is it even possible for a company to **** up so bad that even the Jap-team can't fix this?

Well, I think you already have your answer. The sad thing is is that the incompetence didn't stop with the game, every step from this games creation to the absurdly pathetic service and lack of response we've been getting have assured that this game will remain among one of the greatest failure's in gaming history. Square cannot write this off as some minor incident anymore. They have effectively earned the scorn of so many people after pissing on them because of Drakengard 3. I won't forget this anytime soon and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.

Is that for the digital version? Because they told me that only Sony can refund the game.

Only if you bought it from the Sony store. I bought the collectors edition directly from Square, so it's their obligation to do so, not Sony's.

Tatadadaaaa~! *drumroll* This got posted about an hour ago on the Failbook Drakengard page:

UPDATE AND FIX FOR PAL JP VO DLC.
After extensive testing with our development team and SONY Europe, we have now found the cause of the issue and have uploaded a fixed version of the game. The cause was identified as an error in the game upload process via the PSN store which SONY has now fixed.
You will need to re-download and re-install the game from your Download List (either via the PlayStation Store or via Account Management -> Transaction Management -> Download List under the PSN section of the XMB on your PS3) to receive the fixed version.
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this has caused as it has been very frustrating for us also in detecting the cause of the issue.
Thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy playing the game with the original Japanese language.

I'll just leave this here... Since mods here are kinda really, really, really slow... Enjoy~! As for me, I'll redownload it overnight tonight hoping that it'll finally run properly on my tv as well... And I'm still waiting to hear about the freeze issue in Zero's DLC... But at least it's a good start for the weeaboos out there... :D

****tards can't be sorry enough. The game was released in ******* May, that was 2 months ago. Not only did this take way too long to rectify, but is that it? A long overdue fix and bull**** apology? They owe us for all the hassle they put us through with the Japanese audio alone, on top of all the other crap wrong with this game I am very annoyed and disappointed... But sadly not surprised.
I'm still pushing for that refund, I was officially done with the game ages ago, that's why I'm so annoyed they felt that just giving us the patch we shouldn't have even needed if the game was tested right was enough. I'm not holding high hopes on them being reasonable about that though, in which case I hope they are not counting on any future purchases from me.

Actually, it's bin more like 1,5 months... But yeah... The thing I was mostly annoyed with was the lack of updates though... And an error in the upload shouldn't have taken that long to find... Not even the 2 weeks the Jap team took to locate it... Talk about lazy, clueless beta testers... Even though it's not much for most of us now, at least the new players who decide to get this game sometime won't have to deal with this... So that at least is a good thing... Also, I'm exited for when I wake up tomorrow... I'm not holding my breath here but it would be great if the game works properly on my PAL tv as well after re-installing it so I can enjoy going for the last ending and playing the DLC chapters on my own room... I do hope you'll have some luck with that refund you're going for... ^^;

Woohoo~! I just woke up to see if by any chance the redownload would solve my issue... Then I saw the red in Square-Enix showing up.. The game is finally working as a PAL game should on my PAL TV... The glorious colors!!! Well, this made my day... :D

The saddest thing hasn't been so much the game being a complete and total mess....actually, no, that IS really sad, but the saddest thing for me is feeling like Square didn't really give a $hit through the whole thing. Their ridiculous generic apology did absolutely nothing for me, and while I feel like the only compensation I really want at this point is a refund and never have to deal with this game again, if they'd at least offered something in recompense for all the hassle they caused us, I probably wouldn't have been as mad. Jesus man, they gave North America the whole prologue DLC set at no extra charge, but they piss us around like a bunch of second rate citizens and all we get is "Here's your damn fix, you whiny little *****es, now shut up!", as if that was the only problem with this game and that somehow this makes everything alright. Well it doesn't, I'm sorry to say, this whole thing shouldn't have even been an issue, and if Square are seriously going to behave this way then I will be taking my business elsewhere. Their golden years are long behind them now, and some of the tripe they've spoon fed us recently tells me I won't be missing much anyway.
At any rate I'm glad to hear your copy is finally working, you truly have the patience of a saint and I'm glad at least someone got something out of this whole fiasco.

Im not currently in any position to download the game, but can any one report if this "update" also fixes the graphical glitches, game freezes, Japanese voices in the dlc, and the frame-rate issues? (Probably not) :/

Ah yeah... Though a little on the late side as I just finished the 3rd ending last week or so... But at least I can take my time for the sidequests now, enjoy the prologues at my own pace, and can rest assured that I'll be able to replay it even when I move out and still have my fat-ol-reliable TV... I'm not exactly happy with the way they handled it, but I'm pretty content with the fact everything did get fixed at the end... Was kinda hoping my issue would also be fixed along with the other issues so... :)

The Japanese Voices should work now... I assume the Zero DLC crash is also fixed as the whole problem was an error in the game upload in the 1st place... I haven't seen any new reports on the crash issue either... The graphical glitches and frame-rate issues are not unique to our version however... So that won't really be fixed until the Japanese version ever get's a fix for that 1st...

Honestly I'm in no position to bothered uninstalling and downloading the game again to find out. That process of waiting 10 hours downloading and installing before I could even play the game was tedious when I was looking forward to it. I was effectively done with the game ages ago, I'd say within days of its release actually, so that's why I'm so miffed that they're all like "Hallelujah! We fixed it people, worship us!". So you'll have to let me know if it actually works.

I can confirm it works, still I think we still need compensation for waiting so long. This case has been handed very poorly and I won't let Square Enix get away with this so easily.

Well they're not going to make it easy, I can tell you that. I have badgered them with numerous emails as well as threatened them with further action and they still have the gall to flat out ignore me. B4stards.

No thanks, I think myself and everyone who actually made it as far as Branch D's final boss have had more than enough of Drakengard already.

If you bought the Japanese voice pack on the European or any other store that wasn't the North American PSN Store, then no, you've just wasted money, I'm afraid...Or rather MORE money in this case.

So looks like there's a fix, although now that I've gotten to the final boss of branch D the fix means nothing to me now.
