Happy B-day and enjoy :)

<coke can walks out of the room and goes to find the counting sheep for a new job>

:D

PS: You'd need to have seen the Sleep Country Canada comercials. They have alot of Sealy mattresses, which are so comfortable that "you dont need the counting sheep".

So every comercial the counting sheep try to find work. but everyone has a sealy due to the frequent sales from Sleep Country..

Its as funny as the Maple Leaf Prime chicken commercials :)
(or is that another canadian comercial?)

Rook
27th Oct 2002, 02:05
Is that the one with the white claymation sheep in it?

mrdefender
27th Oct 2002, 03:07
they look too good for em to be plato but I think we're thinking about the same thing.

How many comercials can there be with counting sheep? In todays world, some company would sue someother company for that.. :D

Rook
27th Oct 2002, 03:21
Did the sheep look like the one here, except they're all white? (You'll probably have to copy and paste it, coz Tripod sucks!)

http://members.tripod.com/~Gwynt/Wallace_Gromit/Shaun3.jpg

If so, I think they're done by Nick Park, or somebody who completely ripped off his style. I luv Nick Park's claymation stuff. It's amazing!

mrdefender
27th Oct 2002, 05:25
no, its not those. the ones im refering to are more puffy and look more like a sheep than that one.

I just visited the sleep country canada website with no luck finding a sheep :/

Argh! I hate this!! You can't search for anything without having the u know what appearing in the results and no single sleep country sheep website amongst them!

Its fluffier. Looks more like a cartoon sheep but its not a cartoon. Its more like a cross between pupets and plato.. maybe manekins. (eugh. forgot how its spelled). man-euhh-kins.

Bah! thats easy. Just hold the scope at one spot and shoot when it reaches the target.

Its a common discussion now. Since the sniper got arrested.

Many things about "Do games teach kids how to become snipers?"

Its pathetic. There's a big difference between sniping with a mouse and a gun.

If the kid didn't have the gun (as in stricter gun control) then he wouldn'tve sniped.

How does a kid get a hold of a sniper rifle anyways?????

I don't think it can be found on e-bay.. :/

Rook
3rd Nov 2002, 03:25
I dunno, he's a shifty looking sheep. He might just catch you off guard here in a minute and start moving side to side.....and if I can actually find a sheep smiley that's doing that, I'll laugh till I fall outta my chair...

Nah, I don't think games make people do nutty stuff like that. At least, I don't think they're solely responsible. The average person can handle violent games with no problem. But somebody who is already unbalanced can choose to take their inspiration for doing crazy things from anywhere, be it games, films, books, whatever...

This is what I found out.

terminium is the metal they use for photon torpedo casings.
nitrium is for the interior of starships, extreme radiation protection

argh! I cant find it. Ill watch ST:FC and will let you know (the girl that gets onboard the Enterprise-E made the first FTL ship and she mentions how long it took to "scrunge up" the <???> material)

Rook

I could've sworn it was Tritanium... :p ;)

mrdefender
6th Nov 2002, 18:39
Here's a tip.

wide screen = letter box or begining of cliffhanger
full screen = full screen :)

Im not sure if they have the "aspect ratio" yet. I know they show it on the details but not as a type (as in wide, full and ration).

Aspect ratios are like 4:10

Rook
7th Nov 2002, 09:16
Edited previous post. I'm not the one who bought the movie. My dad did. He got it from a used video store, and he didn't notice that it was the widescreen until it was home. It also ended up costing about $6 more than the regular version. And I don't even want to watch it. What's the point of getting a widescreen film, if you have to sit so close to the television to see it that it hurts your eyes? ;)

mrdefender
9th Nov 2002, 21:58
I didn't really like Bill Clinton as president. He didn't seem to be one who does whats best for the country. (From a canadian perspective).

George Bush Jr is a good president. He didn't waste time after the september 11th incident.

Ofcourse, by Incident I'm refering to "event". I don't want to make it sound like it wasn't tragic and painful and incident was the only word that came to mind. (other than "event".. this aint the olympics).

Rook
9th Nov 2002, 22:15
Bill Clinton was a joke. He always nauseated me, and that hasn't changed. I just marvel at the people who kept him in office for 8 years!

George Bush seems alright thus far. He certainly commands a good bit more respect than a man who lies under oath before the entire nation and gets away with it (when anyone else would have been jailed for the same offence). Yeah, I think George Bush did (and is still doing) a good job after Sept 11th. I can't imagine what it must be like to be President on an ordinary day, and certainly not in days like these. The guy can't be getting much sleep.

mrdefender
10th Nov 2002, 01:43
The bush family (George Senior and Junior) are good. They seem to get the job done right the first time.

That's most definitely true. I like the current President well enough, but I don't really trust any politician--at least not entirely.

mrdefender
10th Nov 2002, 01:53
IMO, thats how they get into power.

They promise to do this this and that then they turn around and say they don't have the resources (or something else) to do it.

Rook
10th Nov 2002, 02:00
That is also most certainly true.

Of course, you can only go so far as the rest of the government lets you.

mrdefender
10th Nov 2002, 05:43
True.

It would be great if the people could "vote" or do some sort of petition to have a politician removed from office.

:D

I'd imagine that would cause lots of chaos for the simple reason of people who voted against Politician 1 vote to get him out of office...

Rook
10th Nov 2002, 06:18
That would be rather interesting. I'd say the great majority of campaign promises that fail are the fault of the government they are given to to be voted on. Of course, now that we have a Republican Prez and a Republican majority in Congress, things might get rather interesting. That hasn't been the case for quite awhile.

See all the strange subjects that can arise at a birthday party! :D

Rook
10th Nov 2002, 21:26
Welcome back Mako! Haven't been here in awhile, eh?

Politics is one of those occupations I would NEVER want to get into. It's too much of an open door for people to hate you too easily. And, like I said, most of whatever good you intend to do will, no doubt, be undermined by other politicians who are out to make you and whatever party you are affiliated with look bad.

Or, to phrase it simply, people suck!!

:D

mrdefender

We dont have the make ppl look bad feature in our elections (well.. not in ottawa as far as I know).

Actually.. I never saw a commercial relating to the canadian elections :/

All I see is those boards they put on the grass saying "Vote for <me>" and has the party name on it. (political party..)

Eugh. There are two words that shouldnt be in the same sentence. Political and party :)

Rook

You searched me for it w/o my permission. I think that would cancel out my criminal record and my having to pay the entrance fee.

1) You have enough monney to pay the entrance fee.

2) You're not above the law, so pay up :p

3) The only way this place is going down, is if you sign a contract with the city to bring this block down and build something here. Since if you don't build something, this block remains property of the govrnment.

4) I have a contract for 100 years signed by your grandmother. The only way Ill move from this spot is if you give me 60 trillions dollars, microsoft and the president's position.

Real fruit cake is absolutely disgusting. Like I said, too many different flavors combined. It just ends up tasting like you took a bunch of stuff out of your kitchen that you might have otherwise thrown away, and stuck it in a cake mix. Blech!

I never knew they had german patato salad.

Rook
7th Dec 2002, 08:59
Or maybe it isn't authentic--I dunno. They have a whole section of Columbus (Ohio) called German Village where they have a lot of German-themed shops and restaurants. Anyway, that's where I had the potato salad. It literally, and I'm not exaggerating, tasted like vomit. No kidding. It just seemed like another of those instances where too many things that didn't blend well were thrown into one dish.

Maybe they just didn't get it right that day or something...

:)

I havent eaten chinese food in such a long time.

We got this all u can eat buffet-only restaurant called "Du Bari"

(i think roughly translated its "From Barrel")

I went there for my 17th b-day and it was discusting. it was cold (when it was supposed to be hot..)

I'm talking temperature wise and not spices :)

Rook
8th Dec 2002, 01:51
I haven't had Chinese in ages, either. Last time I did, it was cashew chicken, which is delicious! Love my egg rolls, too.:D

mrdefender
8th Dec 2002, 03:47
I love the vegetable mix. u know, the almond guy ding or whatever. Mixed vegetables with almonds.

I'm fond of chicken rice and chicken balls.

There's also a mix of vegetables with wierd red peppers that are extremely hot (1 of those red pepers = 5 jalepeno pepers..)..

I would mix it, take out the red pepers and give em to my mom to eat (she would eat em just like that). The mix would be spicy but alot less spicy than with the pepers.

I like eggrolls too but im not as fond with them as the chicken.

Rook
8th Dec 2002, 05:53
I thought you didn't like almonds...;)

I think cashew chicken is just about the only Chinese meal I'm adventurous enough to try--and that's just coz my stepdad bought me some one night, and I felt obligated to at least try it. It's good stuff. I'm sure there's other dishes I might like just as well, but I'm just not brave enough to give them a chance. If it's not cashew chicken, I'll probably just settle for egg rolls (usually chicken ones) and loooootza' duck sauce. Yummy!:D

mrdefender
8th Dec 2002, 20:55
duck sauce?

The almond thing i left the almonds out of it. it tastes wierd in there too. (with the mix)

Rook
9th Dec 2002, 00:02
Duck sauce is made out of apricot juice, sugar and probably some kind of extra spices. It sounds absolutely disgusting now that I think about it, but it doesn't taste half bad. It's very sweet, though.

mrdefender
9th Dec 2002, 06:16

no. The C3PO in the robot droid manufacturing facility part :)

Yoda kicks ass :) (about time too).

For him to be "the most powerfull jedi" you'd think he'd get his hands dirty more often ;)

I haven't seen episode 2 but I was wondering when Yoda would actually do something! :D

Uh oh, I think our music is too loud the neighbour is angry!

try using this to get the point across :)

http://www.smilies.nl/person/director.gif

Lights, camera, action! ;)

Oooh OOH OOH! You should see the stuff u can do with windows media player 9. I found a feature called "synchronized lyrics". Its AWESOME! Its a pain in the behind to get it to work right but its awesome.

I did lots of stuff for the Die Another Day theme.

I did ASCI anims (the text is always at the same spot, so u only have 1 line of text).

Its like "lyrics synchronized"
then its ".lyrics synchronized." (up to 3 ...)
Then it counts down from 3 to the point where the lyrics start in the song :)

I'm a genius :D

I was relived to find out the lyrics are saved in the music file itself :D Could u imagine having to synchronize 40 lines again?

PS: What happend to the smilies for the last 3 posts ???

Rook
18th Dec 2002, 01:36
I think you're pretty safe at McDonald's, as long as you don't complain about the food, the service, facility maintenance (or the lack of it), or have any reason whatsoever to have your food sent back to be remade, as I'm sure you know, it's very likely you'll get ingredients that aren't on the menu.

 :D

Sir Henry Morgan
18th Dec 2002, 01:49
LOL yes very true

Or the worst mistake of all, making smart alec remarks into the drive through microphone whilst ordering your meal.

"would you like fries with that?"

"Did I ask for fries? Don't you think if I wanted fries with that I would have said can I have some fries with that?"

...in the background haaaawk *spit*

:D

Our Mcdonalds is screwey. You know the vid screen that they show u what u ordered? It's busted and it only shows "Welcome To M Donld"

The speaker needs to be tweaked. You can barely here the guy only to find out its a girl :)

Wow. There was actually a conversation that I wasnt part of

Rook
18th Dec 2002, 03:06
Sounds like the McDonald's near me. Everything the do to it to try to make it "up to date" ends up breaking down (or getting broken by some unscrupulous means).

And, if you're at the drive-thru, only ask to have your order repeated a bit louder if you have no further use for the ear that is closest to the speaker. :D

mrdefender
18th Dec 2002, 04:23
The local burger king is very up to date. It's basicly a color tv. it shows their commercial-types (think of banners, but on tv), it shows the "welcome to burger king" when the cashier is ready for ur order and it shows ur order clear and gives the details.

(like if u get super sized. it shows "Super Size.... 50c"

And the reception (his/her voice and yours) is clear. :)

Rook
18th Dec 2002, 04:46
Ooh, I think our Burger King blew all the money that should have gone for cool stuff like that on germ-infested tube slides for the kiddies. :o :D

Well the good news is that Macdonalds is having a massive downturn in business worldwide.

Rook
18th Dec 2002, 06:29
Yeah, I heard that recently. It's probably coz not every restaurant in the chain carries the pizza. It really is just about the best thing on the menu. Or it could be coz $5 is outrageous for any chicken sandwich! It's not exactly gourmet cuisine, after all. ;)

:D

McDonald's is loosing buisness???

How is that possible????

U look outside from anywhere and ur sure to spot 2 of em :)

Same thing for Tim Hortons. There's atleast one in a km distance of ur location.

:)

It's insane the competition between companies.

We have (were I used to live) a gas station next to the video store. Then, Canadian Tire made a store and a gas station RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE OTHER ONE!!!

It's gets better, a few months later, Shell makes a gas station further along the road (about 10 seconds drive).

We got 3 gas stations on the same road!

WE GOT 3 GAS STATIONS WITHIN 300 METERS!!!!!!!

But Canadian Tire is getting some customers. They did a "sale" on the gas, its normally between 63.1 and 73.4 (it was 69.9 that day) and they did a promo and the gas was just 41c !!!!!

THATS LIKE 25 CENTS LESS THAN ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

Suffice it to say they were more than busy :D

Oh. And our prices are per litre. So im not sure how it gets figgured out for gallons. You pesky americans decided to be different :)

Like how many countries dont use the metric system?

Em. At least i think its the MS. Metric is Liter, Celcius, Kilometer (1000 meters) ? right?

Nah, I'm sure there are one or two others. I could be wrong. God only knows why we haven't gone metric with the rest of the civilized world...:o

Well, I can still get my Coke by the liter, 2 liter, or 3 liter--depending on how much of a sugar rush I'm up for.:D

mrdefender
19th Dec 2002, 20:23
3 litre??

We got a can (355ml), a bottle (591 ml), a 1litre bottle and a 2 litre bottle.

We got no 3 litre bottle.. (unless u melt a 1 litre into a 2 litre :/ bit the drink would evaporate)

:)

Sir Henry Morgan
19th Dec 2002, 22:43
Then all thats left of the litre would be litter :D

Well. We (canadians) do something called Recycling. I'm not sure if that exists in the USA :)

When I went to Florida in December 98 (2-3 months before i got sick), it was nasty. There was plastic bottles everywhere. :(

The trash was full of recyclable materials. :/ (basic recyclable stuff, paper.. plastic.. cardboard, cans.. etc..)

Rook
20th Dec 2002, 08:03
I think you can only get 3 liter bottles in certain places. I've never seen them around here, but I have a friend who has brought them up from Alabama. That is a heck of a lot of pop, though!

Dayton is a fairly clean city, as far as litter goes. That's only coz there's nothing and no one in the city to trash it up. It's a ghost town down there.:o

:)

mrdefender
20th Dec 2002, 19:48
The only more than 2 litre thing I know of is a big milk jug, which is 4 litres.

Lol. Ghost town :)

Reminds me of a CSI episode... There was a homicide (one person killed) and one of the CSI's said that 5% of the town's population is dead.

The other one is confused (if its a homicide... ).

The first one says, Its true if the town's population is 20 :D

I never saw such a small town.

Sir Henry Morgan

That was orleans 50 years ago :)

Now there's 3 gas stations on one street, 2 Mcdonalds on another. Ofcourse, a tim hortons within 500 meters of each other.

:)

Amazing what can happen in 50 years.

Star Trek stuff is supposed to happen within 50 years :) (end to hunger, racism and all other nice stuff too. (i just forget what it is. I actually think I'm living in Startrek).

Now that might sound wierd, but real life just gets really depressing some times :)

Rook

Dayton is a ghost town, in a manner of speaking. I mean, it gives every appearance of a thriving city--from a distance. You get close enough, and you figure out there's hardly anyone there. Then they voted the Mayor who was making the best effort towards fixing the city up out of office. He put money forth to have a baseball field built (and I have to admit we have one of the coolest mascots of any minor league team:D), had a bunch of old warehouses renovated and turned into gorgeous studio apartments, built a riverfront laser lights display, started the development of a cultural arts center where a vacant building had been in the center of town, and was well on the way to making the city a decent place again. Now he's gone.:(

There. That's my gripe for the night. I thought I'd put it somewhere, and it just happened to end up here. I'm done venting. Carry on.;)

Edit: Oooh, lookie what I found!!
http://www.lansinglugnuts.com/the_team/teams/images/dayton.jpg

The actual mascot's name is "Heater" which is only one letter away from the spelling of my last name--and the same pronunciation. Sounds kind of funny when they mention it on television.:D

Q'plah.

That's about it... :)

I know the vulcan |/V\| thing :)

The first guy says "Peace and Long Life"
Then the 2nd one says "Live long and prosper"

I haven't really heard any vulcan talk. Except for 1 sentence Hoshi Sato (ST: Enterprise's Comm Officer, human translater). T'pol (2nd in command of Enterprise, ST:ENT) saying (as far as I can tell) Thank you in Vulcan to Hoshi.

Probably one of those things Vulcans would consider "embarassing" to say.
