View Full Version : The name's SQUARE ENIX

A quick suggestion: When talking about the company in its current form, Square Enix/SQUARE ENIX, try not to refer to it as just "SQUARE" (or "ENIX"). If you don't have the time to write down the entire name, use an abbreviation, like "SE", "Squeni", "SQEX", "Squix" or "SEEX".

Also:
Just to clarify in the thread, there is no "-" in our company name. It's Square Enix, not Square-Enix. We use a "-" in the URL to not confuse the double e.

Don't uppercase it either, that's for product pages and press releases, no need to caps lock it on normal mentions.

I personally don't mind using capitals for the company name, just like SOLDIER.

I've usually defaulted to S-E *rubs chin*

That seems like more work :p. I try to do this as often as I can. Some of us get lazy though ;).

I would always just call it Square, because I never knew how to pronounce Enix. This was always reflected in my writing. But referring to them as full name or S-E is no problem! :D

Your suggestion "S-E" was removed from the list above, new_tradition & DerekMaverick.

Uppercasing company and product names outside of official sources makes it sound artificial. It just doesn't look good presented that way in normal conversations and similar environments.

By the way, Square Enix calls themselves just Square. i.imgur.com/xWrvL.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/xWrvL.jpg)

To each their own. ^_^

However, that's a good point. I have sent Robert a message and asked what he has to say about this.

Lol, that's a bug/typo that I'll request to have fixed. We don't intend to call ourselves just Square.

That's a relief.

Sorry I have been offline for a while. Then Square Enix is fine, never really thought of the "-" being there or not.

If we're concerned about the proper usage of names, let's get technical and call it "Quadrilateral Province of Almeria." Or we can try typing on our English keyboards: ?????·?????.
