I edited a post once and the revised post didn't show "last edited on...."

The second time I edited the same post, it DID show "last edited on..."

Is that the way it is and I am just now figuring this out?

Always has been. If you hit the wrong button (as I have) the edit doesn't show. :D

If you edit a post VERY SOON after posting it, there will be no message. So you can immediately correct some spelling error or whatever. After a minute or two if you edit it then there WILL be the message :)

EDIT - See, I just edited this post RIGHT AFTER posting it, so no message :)

Oh, and one other "little known" fact. There is never more than one edit message, no mater how many times you edit, a great relief to us bad typists.;)
