You can not play FF XIV at the moment so best don't run off and buy a copy.
The game is currently being rebooted and it will take a while untill it goes life again.
You can get all the infos on the official FFXIB page
lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/index.h... (http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/index.html)

FFXI is great but many of the core users will transition to FFXIV with 2.0 so the servers will not be as active,
if i were you i would wait for FF XIV 2.0 and then play that.

to you Cameron, I have a nice windows 7 touch screen PC, but even then it says it can't run the minimum.. So hopefully you have better luck with the game, what you should do to find out easily enough is go to this site.. www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri) when that is opened, start typing in final fantasy xiv and when it pops on the drop menu, click that and then run. You'll have to dl a little PC patch thing. This site will make you happy if you are unsure on some games for your PC. Hope it helps, best of luck with it!

Feel free to download the free Final Fantasy IV benchmark here:

www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/benchmark/... (http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/benchmark/na/)

You can install and see how it runns.

In the actual game you have agood deal of config options, you can reduce resolution,
texture quality and some features to make it run smoother on your machine but its best to make sure that it runs at all before buying the game.

Actually, the benchmark test in the above post is for the previous version of FINAL FANTASY XIV. A benchmark test for A REALM REBORN will be released closer to launch. The game's director has stated that if you're able to run FFXIV on your computer you should be able to handle A Realm Reborn without a problem.
