KungFu type fighting. esPECIALly if they do Hong Kong. and more especially if
they have a superbeing hero. expect Matrix-tricks. there's just certain things
in life you can count on and special fx fighting is one of them. also expect
explosions. <P>but i'm going to go with Tech on this and say i really don't think i'd mind
seeing it. Lucy would be fine, age isn't really that big a deal. she isn't THAT
young. actually, i think they've been making her up as younger anyway. besides,
they JUST bought rights. that doesn't even put the movie in Big D yet so she
could age another year or two before the part rolls around. in glittertown, a
year can be a long time. <IMG SRC="http://www.eidosgames.com/ubb/wink.gif"> but they MUST start fighting with the swords. expect lightsaber type action
there.<P>DEJ; re "...Fears"<BR>that wasn't the only MAJOR change. also location of explosion. the fact that
Ryan was Deputy Director of CIA (i think CIA) in the book and now he's a rookie
just so they can use Affleck and he's so much younger than what they initially
wanted. tell you the truth, i haven't read it, but hubby has and i've been
listening to him rant for weeks now. my only rant is... (you're getting ahead
of me) Awfleck The Supreme Ahct-or.<P>two more actors for my NO WAY IN HADES list of actors i'd want to see as my JC: <BR>Nicolas Cage, Mark Wahlenburg.<P>(all during "Planet..." i kept rooting for the apes to kill Marky.)</FONT></td></tr><tr bgcolor="#DFE0E0"><TD width=18% valign=top><FONT SIZE="2" face="Arial"><B>STL[Caltech]</B></font><BR><FONT SIZE="1" face="Arial">Member <P>Posts: 1004<BR>From:Pasadena, CA<BR>Registered: Aug 2001</FONT></td><TD><FONT SIZE="2" FACE="Arial"><FONT SIZE="1" color="#001450" face="Arial">posted 06-10-2002 04:30 AM</FONT><HR>The Sum of All Fears was all right, but after seeing Terminator II, SoAF's

However, after Charlie's

Plus, for some irrational reaon, I freaking hate Lucy Liu. She's not attractive

But that's just me. <P>Speaking of <I>Crouching Tiger</I>, I thought when originally playing the game that <A HREF="http://us.imdb.com/Name?Yeoh,+Michelle" TARGET=_blank>Michelle Yeoh</A> would make a <I>wonderful</I> choice as Maggie (although there aren't any fight scenes). she's got the gravity that I think Lucy Liu lacks... I also thought <A HREF="http://us.imdb.com/Name?Ming-Na" TARGET=_blank>Ming-Na</A>, formerly known as Ming-Na Wen, would also make a great Maggie. But that's

Bruce Lee, and one of the things they mentioned was that Bruce was always being
asked to slow down his moves because he was moving too fast for the camera to
catch in a way that the audience could see what was going on.<P>Granted, nowadays with multiple cameras running at various speeds, that
wouldn't be a problem, but it still shows that real martial arts can be so much
more beautiful and realistic than "Hollywood Martial Arts".</FONT></td></tr><tr bgcolor="#C0C8D0"><TD width=18% valign=top><FONT SIZE="2" face="Arial"><B>TechImmortal</B></font><BR><FONT SIZE="1" face="Arial">Member <P>Posts: 840<BR>From:Cabal of Technophiles mod group<BR>Registered: Aug 2001</FONT></td><TD><FONT SIZE="2" FACE="Arial"><FONT SIZE="1" color="#001450" face="Arial">posted 06-10-2002 09:41 PM</FONT><HR>First of all, I can definitely go for Michelle Yeoh if everyone else wants her.
Trouble is, would she want the part? I think it's not to her taste, since she
wants to do lots of action along with drama, according to things she's said in
a recent interview. Of course, if the DX movie manages to have both, then
maybe she'd be interested. She could sure do it. But we don't want *that*
much martial arts, if any, right?<P>If we want to discuss the *quality* of Hollywood martial arts, and how much
action should be in the DX movie, we should start another thread. I considered
doing that, when I made my Maggie post, actually...mainly, for casting
purposes, I wondered that if the woman who plays Maggie has martial arts
skills, whether the movie should take advantage of the resource, or use her
strictly as an actress. So, I'm trying to stick to the casting aspects of
this, here.</FONT></td></tr><tr bgcolor="#DFE0E0"><TD width=18% valign=top><FONT SIZE="2" face="Arial"><B>FierceClaw</B></font><BR><FONT SIZE="1" face="Arial">Member <P>Posts: 106<BR>From:Los Angeles, California, United States<BR>Registered: Jan 2002</FONT></td><TD><FONT SIZE="2" FACE="Arial"><FONT SIZE="1" color="#001450" face="Arial">posted 06-11-2002 01:15 AM</FONT><HR>Sorry to continue the martial arts discussion, but I just have to get this off

style jumps rather than the kind from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I liked
how the characters in the Matrix showed some weight when they landed, sometimes
even damaging the floor upon impact; I could hardly watch Crouching Tiger
because I hated how everyone just landed so lightly. If people can launch
themselves into the air like that, they would land with roughly the same force
they had when they left the ground.<P>Besides, Warren Spector described JC's augs as giving him superpower-ish
abilities, and superheros tend to crack the pavement when they land from huge
leaps (I read plenty of comics, so I consider myself a bit of an expert on this

although very cool is far too old. I like Bruce Willis' films, but he is the
wrong character, and he too old as well. I don't really know much about Ben
Affleck so no comment. While The Rock has the looks and physique to carry out
the role with ease, the fact that I dislike WWF intensely means that I am
biased against him. I love Rowan Atkinson, but only as Mr Bean. Yes I know his
inclusion is a joke, but then so is Russell Crowe. I hate that actor and I
would not watch DX if he were played JC. And while he is not too old, his face

an andriod, given that they're two of the most wooden, robotic actors in the

Brad Pitt - never wastes a chance to show you how "serious" he's being, how
hard he's working on screen for your entertainment dollar. Every single shot
I've ever seen Tom Cruise in, I've never believed for a <I>second</I> that it was anything else than Tom Cruise Playing A Part In A Movie. Never
bought any characterization for a second, mostly because he GIVES no

which tried to display a scene of maximum destruction. Crouching Tiger, Hidden

neither is more correct than the other. They are both impossible.<P><B>If people can launch themselves into the air like that, they would land with

force can be used in the horizontal vector. The second point is that one can
land lightly by absorbing some of the energy themselves and finally releasing
it back to the ground over a longer period of time. This is the same idea

off that way because he's so rough around the edges. The media has had a lot to
do with people disliking him. Like when he flipped the bird to that college
student when he was filming <I>A Beautiful Mind</I>. I thought it was funny, but the media got extremely carried away. The same
with the thing about the BAFTA director: Crowe stuck his finger in the guy's

doesn't make him a prick. Everybody he works with in the movie industry really

Most people don't care about these things, but I do. <P>Random, I had no idea that people disliked him. I thought I was the rare few. I

one of the very small number of people that actually enjoyed Final Fantasy).
Animation would allow for much more interesting mech designs, and would prevent
Gunther and Anna from looking like a couple of actors covered in strange
makeup. Besides, I think the pseudo-reality look that Final Fantasy had would
work well for Deus Ex since a big part of the story is figuring out what's real
and what isn't.<P>As far as the cost of it, if Square did the smart thing and kept its studios
open as a special effects house to do contract work for other studios (which
could have been extremely profitable for them), it wouldn't cost <I>too</I> much. At least half of the cost of Final Fantasy was getting the studio up
and running, so the movie itself only cost about $70 million, which is much
smaller than many modern movie budgets. If Deus Ex could be fully
computer-animated without having to start a new studio in the process, it might
be a viable way to go.</FONT></td></tr><tr bgcolor="#DFE0E0"><TD width=18% valign=top><FONT SIZE="2" face="Arial"><B>OldGrrl</B></font><BR><FONT SIZE="1" face="Arial">Member <P>Posts: 214<BR>From:<BR>Registered: Aug 2001</FONT></td><TD><FONT SIZE="2" FACE="Arial"><FONT SIZE="1" color="#001450" face="Arial">posted 06-13-2002 04:38 AM</FONT><HR>ok.
