Why is there different icons for the messages? For example: A dot on an envelope, an open envelope, an open envelope with a dot on it, An envelope with 3 lines above it?

And the line where it tells you what the thread is called, Why on some of them have an arrow pointing downwards?

Closed Blue Envelope - Old Message
Open Yellow Envelope - New Message
Closed Blue Envelope w/ Lines - Old Hot Topic
Open Red Envelope - New Hot Topic
Envelope with a Lock - Closed Topic

That's basically how it works, oh and a dot over the icon means you've posted in that topic.
It allows you to keep track of what posts you've replied to and how they've progressed.

If a thread has a down arrow next to it, it has new, unread replies. Click on the arrow to go directly to the unread reply(ies).
