Remember those Occult Worshippers who recently began dropping Devil’s Treasure throughout Nosgoth (http://www.nosgoth.com/blog/devil-s-night-will-soon-be-upon-us)? The Vampires have come to a realisation. Those pitiful apostles have begun to carry KEYS with them too...capture the bodies…CAPTURE ALL THE BODIES!!!


Capture the Body
Introducing a focal point around which absolute carnage occurs; Capture the Body is an objective based game mode that sees the Vampire team attempting to harvest a series of bodies from around the map. Body in hand, the Vampires will attempt to bring it to the extraction point with the goal of securing its flesh and plunder. The team with the most extractions wins!

Our latest game update has introduced a limit on the number of the same classes present on any given team, meaning you’re going to face more varied and capable team compositions in Capture the Body now.

Capture the Body will be available during the Devil’s Weekend starting on at 16:00 GMT (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20151030T16) on Friday the 30th Oct and finishing at 03:00 GMT (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20151102T03) on Monday the 2nd Nov.

YES! Keys will drop across random matches during the Devil’s Weekend event, and can be used to open any locked chests in your inventory. Should you be lucky enough to find one, choose your chest wisely before opening.

With the Vampires actively hunting down bodies for keys, chances of finding keys in the Capture the Body game mode this weekend, are much higher than in other modes.

As the barriers between the spirit and physical realms weaken this weekend, Ghostly items are making their presence known, meaning they’re easier to find. The chance of mysterious gear dropping has been increased by a factor of three.

Okay, seeing how we talked about the chests and the 'Paid Halloween event', I just wanted to say: Thanks. Thanks for listening. Though it may not completely fix the chest problem, you at least tried to bring us a solution, and I am grateful for that. It shows me that you are still willing to integrate the community feedback.

Juts so you know this wasn't a response to community feedback, it was always planned. They just hid the info until now (bad move) and are now locking keys behind a game mode they want tested, and which most people I know despise. Still a poor showing.

Yep.
I am not wasting my time on the game.
At every turn you managed to make me care less and less. The only reason I came back was because you fixed Lobbies in ranked, problem is.. ITS STILL RANKED.
I still can't play with friends, and 'team' game without that feature is not worth my time.

Now you want us to play another inferior mode, which, outside of the recent class limit change, probably is still the same as in all the other tests you did so far, which is to say: It's gonna be aweful.
And you give us keys for it - how greatful!
I can't wait to unpack all of those spectacular arcane and uncanny Splitter Hatchets (coz thats all there is in these chests I feel)

All of this event stuff resembles the recent Payday 2 Crimefest event situation so much. (Yes, there are some differences, still)
Its really strange to have that approach copied after all the backlash their devs had. But Nosgoth community scale is no payday2 community, so I guess we'll have only those same 5-10 voices on the forums (forum-active members proportionate to the overall player count) - just to be easily disregarded as 'negative feedback' :hmm:

I guess thanks for the 'fix' (at least dropping the keys so the absolute majority of nongambling players may actually get anything at all in this event), but I'm not even sure yet that the droprate is reasonable at all and having it 'much higher' in CtB is really strange. Seems like a continous effort to divert from what the game is at best - TDM, by forcing a separate Matchmaking pool after the separation of MM pool by leagues mode ends, superficially agonizing the always present problem with Nosgoth's low player count. The problem that almost solely contributes to the players perception of 'bad' matchmaking in this game (esp. with the introduction of league due to aforementioned reasons).

Also the introduction of class cap just masks the lack of balance, while producing unneeded limitations for players. Thats not a reasonable way to deal with imbalance - in the long run at least.
E.g. CtB (and FP) with their hotspot areas focus favours AoE's much more, compared to TDM. This produces the obvious need to rebalance classes/abilities to fit the new game mode/rules. Indeed, this means more work, but in the end there's no way around it. Limiting class picks to adress one or two of them being OP in the new circumstances is not the solution to the problem itself. Also this will promote bitterness/salt among players who were the first to pick [e.g. alchemist], favouring faster load times, highlighting games poor optimisation and many other factors. Maybe it will even produce annoying behaviour patterns, like if class pick is reset on death, this will be an incentive to not die and potentially not to risk at all, playing as far away from the objective as possible etc.

That said, I really really really hope class capping will never get implemented in TDM, with good old proper balancing still the #1 approach to fix any inbalance or 'OP' cries.

I love CTB, so I'll want to play anyway, and the chance to get keys out of the deal is nice. I hope this is a test for an upcoming standard feature, or at least something that's done every month or something. Maybe last weekend of the month there's a special thing where you can get keys? IDK. Just something that'll let us earn keys other then Leagues.

I'm not happy with the class cap on CTB, though, I will be quite honest. Not that I think my feedback will do any good, since apparently I'm the only one who didn't think there was a problem with class stacking? B/ Class stacking can be easily countered, if people are just smart about it, so I personally thought the intense whining and complaining that people made over it was over the top and unnecessary. I didn't voice my disdain for the decision at the time it was first announced, but hey, you asked, I'll tell. If you give in to the people who throw hissy fits, then you're going to make EVERYONE unhappy, because the people who throw those wall-eyed hissy fits aren't ever happy and tend to cause headaches for everyone else.

Yay it's the end of League and CtB back :D huzzah! That makes me happy, it’ll be nice to play something different it’s been boring as hell just playing TDM for like what a good month. It's kinda lame if you're not a League player and you don't get any other modes to play for the length that League is on. Yeah it’ll be a refreshing change, yeah it's not FP but I'll take CtB with a cherry on top, but I wait patiently for all the ragers to move back into the normal lobbies once League has ended, its a nice respite at least when its on that you don’t get raged at every two seconds :p :)

I agree with KaininitePriestess on the whole I don't agree/like the class cap, but then I'm just being selfish, I'm only ok at playing one human class and if that goes, I'll just get abuse the whole match for my bad play. Oh well could be a laugh I suppose...I could always play Sentinel :lol:

You know, I played my first unranked games after waking up too late for Leagues yesterday (I work nights, so my "morning" is everyone else's evening) and it was really refreshing to not have to deal with the try-hard, HOLY MOLY OH NO WE'RE GONNA LOSE AH AH AH AH atmosphere again. I hadn't realized how srs bsns the game had been starting to become until now. :/ Now I really miss TDM and CTB even more.

I do love the Leagues, 'cause it lets me feel competitive again after working my way up to having almost everything max levelled in TDM, but it's nice to take a break from it for once.

And I can play more then one class effectively, I just don't like being restricted from using the class I want to use that day if someone else chooses it before me. Or if the other team has a group that requires me to pick another class that's locked down because there are other people with it, that's not going to help my team any, is it? IE: 2 Sentinels and 2 Tyrants, where Alchemist would be the best pick for me.

The reason why CtB and FP are so bad and unpopular in Nosgoth, as opposed to other games, is that no thought have been put into them! What they desperately need are mode-specific adaptations of the map.
CtB for all intent and purpose is a one-sided CTF mode.
In other games, you will notice all CTF matches are played on specific CTF maps, not just on TDM maps with random flag spawns.
The same can be said for Flashpoint.

but no - rather just change one minor thing every month and hope for the best.
Just give them keys for all the garbage chests they accumulated (and dragged their FPS down with), that'll shut them up.

This game has gotten so bad in the last two month, being salty and doing rants on the forums is actually more fun to me than playing the game. Good Job.

The class cap on CTB is needed because Alchemist and Tyrant are inherently superior in that game mode or at least perceived to be. I'd rather the cap not be there, but unless other solutions can be found, it's needed to stop everyone from just playing those two classes. Perhaps the body could have different effects on each class or lots or the humans could be penalized for damaging the body too much. That would force humans to be a bit more tactical rather than just bombing the body.

Funny... but seriously.

All right, feedback time.

1. Class limits - As far back as I can remember on this forum, people have been ardently against class caps in any game mode. I don't think this is going to fix CtB. You're going to want to have a separate rule set, most likely addressing how area-of-effects affect the body carrier, or something else is going to have to be buffed. Area-of-effect damage could simply be reduced or, for example, Evasion, Haste, Ignore Pain, Enrage, Shroud, or Deathly Shield can be used while moving the body. Bola still stops transport completely and if people are smart they won't shoot that vampire and deal with others in the vicinity. Fire Wall can still slow movement. Or get crazy with transporting the body, make it affected by physics, and let it ragdoll. Wing Flap that sucker to the goal and blast it back with grenades. Use Throw on it. XD That clears it out of area effects in one manner, at least.

2. Chests - Got a feeling you guys don't have much room to wiggle on this one. Seriously though, I hate gambling. You know what kind of shopper I am? A research buyer. I read and investigate all about the thing I think I want, then go get it. With Nosgoth, I look at the skin I want and think about it for a while, then I get the urge to buy it and do. Buying keys for chances at stuff I *don't* want definitely makes me not want to spend money, pure and simple. You could let keys be random drops all the time, but I don't see the point of that.

3. Team play - I want good reasons to play with people I recognize rather than the random assortment that is ranked leagues. TDM is great, I'm not sure about Flash Point because I can't ever get a game going, and CtB could be the wacky game mode for fun if you at least consider some of the changes I mentioned in #1, especially those ragdoll body physics. I do think that map alterations for CtB and Flash Point will be for the best, meaning they are separate and unique maps.

4. Solo Ranked Leagues - Grinding might make someone play better, but that shouldn't give them the best ranking. I have a post around somewhere that provided an example of grading players based on their personal metrics. I'll edit here in a moment when I find the link. Solo ranked leagues should be looking at each player's metrics across all classes to add up to a score. That's how you rank players, not grind for the most points with the same scout, prophet, sentinel, and deceiver loadout every game.

That's why I suggest to everyone I read complaining about this kind of things to post their opinions here.
But overall, the problem is that some others will still gamble their money, or defend the commercial design because "itz f2p m8 & de same goz wiz cuntr stryk".

I am curious as to why this event is still going to happen even with all the negativity about it. Is the information that the community is pissed not making it back to the brain-dead big wigs who don't know how to market in this day and age?

CTB needs a limit because alchs/tyrants reign supreme.

I want to see a mode that combines both CTB and CP. CAPTURE THE SURVIVOR! There is a Random human on the map. He does nothing but cower when vamps are near and humans are not. HUMANS= Successfully escort the survivor to X Location for a point. VAMPIRES= You are trying to knock out this human and drag him back to X Location to be a slave for later.
This mode would combine best of both worlds and stray from having 3 modes with roughly 1k people spread across them.

You forgot people spamming the click to get that class first at the beginning of each match, and others "if you don't let me play it, I will feed or go AFK".

Anyway, it's a test. Let's see how interesting it can be ;)

I definitely agree, limiting the number of each class isn't going to be a good route to take at all. And Dear Lord, so help me, I get so tired of the MLG PRO GAMR 1337 players that rage at people for not playing a class the way they want them to. This will only make it worse.

There needs to be alternative ways to deter people from just playing those two classes in that case. The best way I can think of to do that is make it so that bombing it with AoE is a bad idea for the humans. Maybe change the rules so that weapons cause the body to explode and rather than penalizing the vamps for that, give them the points for that. To compensate for the advantage this would give vampires, allow the humans to steal it and drag it away from the target.

Well, that's nice. I wish I didn't have to play CtB specifically, but I'll probably play a bit.

I do have a question however.

If I use a mysterious find booster or an all booster, just how exactly is it going to work? Will I be dropping only MIs or is there a better chance of a key, or a ghostly item?

Also the last part is a little unclear to me since it mentions both ghostly and mysterious items. Does it mean that exotic ghostly items drop, or that the MIs dropped this weekend may have a ghostly effect? (the latter was supposed to have happened last year, but it didn't seem to work).
[edit] nvm, I found one now and I get it. They're MIs with the effect revealed.

I really welcome this class limitation change, it was about time. I was off put by the continuous spam of 4 alchemists/tyrants and now CTB is playable again. It is not leagues, so it does not matter as much whether you choose your best class or not. All you need is some AoE attacks and you are good (all classes have some).

Yep.
Again - the problem with CTB wasn't adressed. Sure, now instead of 3-4 Alchemists spamming, you get only 2, but its still completely mindless: Run in, hit target with canon from afar, place fire wall on body -> die - repeat.

I really am going to have to beg to differ with you on this. Stacking can always be easily countered. We shouldn't be restricted from playing things.

Have there been any considerations towards allowing us to sell chest for gold in the store or breaking them down for materials in the forge? We get chests more than anything else these days and the majority of us can't (or don't need to) open them.

With this droprate, for an event that lasts for a few hours over 3 days, the part about free keys is a cruel, cruel joke. I played CtB exclusively, don't know how long, maybe 20 games, didn't see even one drop for anybody in the lobby.

I've certainly heard worse ideas. And a lot of those came from Squeenix. I'd give that mode a try, at least.

But now instead you get two Alchemists & two Vanguard, one spamming fire and the other one doing bulwark over the body :p

Howdy everyone,

We're currently taking a look at the weekend's happenings to see where we stand with Key drops. I'll look to post an update about them later today with our findings. I do hope that you all had a blast over the Halloween weekend :).
