Jeez, Dontnod, you really tore me up... I sacrificed Chloe in order to save the Arcadia Bay, Mother Nature and myself (those nosebleeds were not a good sign), but, man, watching Chloe die all over again and knowing I can't do anything about it, or should do anything about it, was excruciating. Obviously the next few minutes were difficult to endure, knowing in this reality Max never got to be with Chloe again and that Chloe died without Max ever contacting her while back in town after five years apart. Chloe died thinking Max is an *******, with some justification. But as Chloe said towards the end of the game: "Max, you finally came back to me this week, and you did nothing but show me your love and friendship. You made me smile and laugh like I haven't done in years. Wherever I end up after this, in whatever reality, all those moments between us were real, and they'll always be ours." So maybe in some tenuous way, in another reality or another dimension, Max really did make it up to her after ignoring her for so long. Maxs' own memories at least are a continuity of the time they spent together after Max changed history, so in that way those moments really were real, though Max is back in the timeline that she didn't alter. Anyway, the point of this post: though this ending caused quite an emotional reaction in me, I feel it could have been more impactful if they had chosen a different song to needle drop. Namely, this one:

Thoughts? Think they should put this in a potential all-episode disc release? Lemme know, y'all!

I like that song, reminds me somehow of the Pixies and PUSA. Although it may fit lyric-wise, the music feels out of place for the last scene. But hey, better than the Foals without doubt. ;)

I've written down my opinion in another thread before but i guess it'll get buried in the EP4 subforum anyway, so i'll leave it here:

Now after EP5 i have to complain a bit about one chosen song, the song in the "save Arcadia Bay" ending. (and it's not because i don't like that band anyway).
When i had to relive Chloe's death and her funeral, a song like this was the last thing i needed.
I was crying like Max about our loss. The song just didn't fit in. Like, at all.
It was loud, that overtuned snare drum and hi-hats made me itch, and i couldn't stand the vocals. Completely inappropriate for these moments in my opinion.
ANY Mogwai song would have fit better - only few musicians are capable of creating such raw emotion with their music only and no vocals. Even if you had reused their "Kids Will Be Skeletons" it'd been perfect, because this song is already attached to Chloe's and Arcadia Bay's fate and builds a wonderful mix of happy and sad. "Friend of the Night (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZKVNJqpBPQ)" maybe would have been a great choice too.

edit:

This one would maybe fit too for the save arcadia bay ending https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4z51dzKWSU

I didn't have any problems with the song at all. Once it started to pick up with the beat while showing us all those memories with Chloe being burned away that's when it hit me; none of these memories technically happened. And that crushed me. Chloe died never seeing Max again and never experiencing the love she had for her. That got to me.

There's other songs I think could have worked just as good though.

Wow, i expected everything but not Daughter when clicking those links! Yea, Elena writes beautiful songs, and yea, "Smother" would be perfect! (The difference between Torres and Daughter is probably, that Daughter can be really depressing sometimes, while Torres is still pretty life-affirming while being depressing...)

LOL sometimes? Most of their stuff is just downright melancholy. It's always beautiful, but dark. I'm glad to have another fan of theirs on the board! For something with a little more upbeat for the ending I'd go with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pLsb1YMsKE

Lyrically, it may also have more in common with the ending. I still have soft spot for Smother though lol
