Sorry to be tardy to the party! Here's the forum version of our recent blog post (http://www.nosgoth.com/blog/nosgoth-state-of-play-august-2015). Enjoy!
--

Summer may be coming to an end, but we’re back to take another look at what’s cooking in Nosgoth.

Before we look ahead, let’s take a moment to review what has happened since the last State of Play. As development is going into the final stretch, we announced all of the details on Season 1 of Nosgoth Leagues (http://www.nosgoth.com/blog/nosgoth-leagues-season-1-launch-this-october). During our Gamescom stream (http://www.nosgoth.com/blog/nosgoth-official-gamescom-twitch-livestream), we went over the rewards for players, including cash prizes for players that rank in the Top 100. Later, we added a slew of new wallpaper (http://www.nosgoth.com/blog/new-class-wallpapers) and super high resolution images for the community to download.

Rounding out the month with a focus on the community, we posted an interview with Lucy (a.k.a. lucinvampire) (http://www.nosgoth.com/blog/community-spotlight-lucinvampire) fresh from her visit to Psyonix in San Diego. We also hosted another Community Live Stream with Jonathan Osborne (http://www.nosgoth.com/blog/nosgoth-community-live-stream-august-21) of Square Enix Montreal helping us tease some new content for the game as well as reviewing some of the finer points of the League system. Lastly, with the League beta came to an end, we launched another round of Capture the Body (http://www.nosgoth.com/blog/last-day-of-league-beta-capture-the-body-starts-tomorrow).
With all that catch-up out of the way, let’s take a look at what’s to come.

ONGOING - Meet the Developer

It has been a while since we brought you another “Meet the Developer” post, but that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped running them. In fact, we have not one but two that will be posted in the coming weeks, with more after that. We like taking the time to introduce the team to the community so you can get a feel for who we are. If there are any particular roles on the Nosgoth development team that you’d like to hear about next, be sure to Tweet @Nosgoth (http://www.twitter.com/nosgoth) with #NosgothBlog (https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&q=%23NosgothBlog&src=typd).

ONGOING - New map

Although our Community Live Streams are just a way for the team to hang out and play with other players in the Nosgoth community, we did take a few minutes to share some upcoming content in our most recent one. Among the teases were two pictures from our upcoming map (which we have been alluding to for a few months now). Legacy of Kain fans might recognize this next location, but even if you don’t, that’s okay too! We will have more to show you soon as the map gets closer to completion.

FALL - Class Talents

Later this year, we plan on changing the existing perk system with a new set of class-specific talents. Currently, players can unlock additional benefits, such as Increased Health or Lower Recoil, which span across all classes. In our new system, players will unlock new class talents as their character levels, allowing for a deeper level of customization and more character-specific benefits. For example, Alchemists can choose to be healed when dealing fire damage to enemies, or Summoners can opt to reduce their summoning cooldown when landing melee attacks.

Players that have purchased any of the existing perks won’t be left out in the cold, however. We’ll be posting a detailed write-up on the class talent system, and how it will affect the existing perks, as we wrap up development. Stay tuned for more.

OCTOBER - Nosgoth Leagues

As we mentioned earlier, we will be launching the first season of Nosgoth Leagues on October 1st. Players from around the world will be fighting for their top spot on the leaderboards as they complete for in-game rewards, bragging rights, and a chance at cash prizes. At the end of the season, players will be award based on their final tier standing; from the top 100 players in Eternal, all the way down to the lowest rung at Bronze, everyone that completes their qualifying matches will be rewarded for their efforts.

Among those rewards is the Bloody Victor Alchemist skin, exclusive for Season 1 and awarded to players that finish the season in Gold tier or above. Here's a sneak peak:

http://www.nosgoth.com/system/rich/rich_files/rich_files/000/000/608/blog/upload-2.png

The first season of Nosgoth Leagues is Solo-only, meaning no premade teams will be allowed to join the matchmaking playlist. A Team ladder will be added to a later season of Nosgoth Leagues, so keep an eye out for that announcement!

FALL - New Abilities

We’re happy to report that several new abilities are wrapping up development and should be rolling into Nosgoth this Fall. First among these abilities is the Summoner’s Deathly Shield. This secondary ability allows players to rip essence from nearby enemies to form a barrier to protect themselves. Proximity to enemy players is key as the barrier will increase in strength when hitting multiple targets.

http://www.nosgoth.com/system/rich/rich_files/rich_files/000/000/605/blog/death.gif

The Drowning Men will also be gaining a new tool of the trade with the Bulwark. As the Vanguard swing the Bulwark around, it will knock back any enemy players within range and keep them at bay for the duration of use. In addition to warding off enemies, the Bulwark also reduces incoming damage to the Vanguard and any nearby allies within the area of effect.

Both the Deathly Shield and the Bulwark will be coming soon to an ability bar near you.

ONGOING - General updates

Several changes will begin to roll out into Nosgoth soon and we wanted to share them ahead of time. Health Stations soon heal players over time instead of one lump sum after activation. The Forge will also see an update that allows for breaking down character skins into crafting materials. Another previously-announced Forge feature, upgrading Arcane items into Mysterious items, will also be added. We'll have more on these updates prior to their release.

TBD - More on the way

When developing any game, there are a lot of coals in the fire. From bug fixes to brand new content, we are working to bring more to the game that we love to make and you love to play. We’ll bring you more specific details in the State of Play blog when we have a better understanding of when they will be completed.

But before we wrap things up, we wanted to specifically call out Item Trading. We know that this feature has been on some of your minds for a while, and while it is certainly on our radar, we do not have any immediate plans to implement it into Nosgoth. At this time, our team is focused on bringing more in-game content to the game by means of new maps, abilities, and much more that isn’t ready for prime time (yet)!

And that'll do it -- another instalment of the Nosgoth State of Play has come to an end. What did you think of this month's edition? Do you have specific questions about our schedule? Want to make additional suggestions? Then head on over to our official forums and let us know... oh wait, you're already here. GREAT! One less URL to link!

new skills are great, BUT this game has so much underused skills (not even used^^) ... imo you should first increase the use of those underused once aka balance them.

In general I would love to have at least the double amount of skills to choose from, but first balance the existing one ;)

I'm excited about finally hearing of the skill tree; and I can't wait to see Bulwark get demoed, on a side note the Vanguard belong to the Drowning Men not the Iron Guard.

I was hoping to hear something about the final vampire class, maybe just confirming that we will learn something about her at some point this fall.

I want to know more about these skill trees. Will we have to level them up like mysterious items, or if we already have a class to level 25 will it be fully unlocked?

Is nothing being released in September? Not even the remaining two Prestige skins?

Looking forward to the new abilities, are these by any chance related to the achievements that are not yet unlockable, like VA2, SA2, SA6?

Sad to hear Item Trading isn't coming anytime soon, a lot of people are waiting for this feature :(

All sounds good :) can't wait to see how things progress.

Now that one melee hit from a vampire interrupts your heal and the fact that respawns location and time are still messed-up makes me think that this is not a good idea. I guess we will see in-game, maybe it will work well but right now I am sceptical.

This is what happens when I don't read my own copy and spend too much time working on Hunter stuff >,< thanks; fixed!

Great work!! On a side note - please consider buffing shadow bomb in one way or another.

We're working on a full work-up on the topic for when all of the details are finalized.

We are aiming to get some more content out in September but "stuff happens" sometimes so we don't want to promise it before we get all of our ducks in a row. We'll keep you posted.

Summoner Achievement 2 corresponds to marking targets for minions, but that isn't apart of Deathly Shield's set. SA6 is for another ability that we haven't released yet. As for Vanguard Achievement 2, we'll get back to you. Personally, I don't think it does, but I want to be sure before I tell you yes or no.

*UPDATE* Just heard from our achievement guru: VA2 isn't associated with Bulwark but, rather, another ability that we are currently prototyping.

Yeah, it's pretty freakin' pretty. I was excited when Eric showed me.

I am very excited for class perks! Even more customization is what the game needs.

I know there are some abilities that aren't used right now but I am still down for new abilities.

The league topic is progressing as is?

As I mentioned in another post elsewhere, we're going over the feedback in the thread there. We'll post a response in there this week, but we need time for everyone to have gone over the feedback and respond accordingly. Bear with us.

I kinda hoped to see something substantial here, but sadly no.

Anyways, have a nice weekend.

I hate to say it but this state-of-play is a huge letdown. Aside from reneging on an announced ETA for trading ... I'm not excited for a redesign of the heal or perk systems, and any changes I was actually hoping to see have been omitted.

Please, set the League schedule for the whole day and not just for 12 hours, I didn't play too many leagues matches for that. - 5 GMT here I just can play at 10 pm to 12 am.

Sorry for my English, I know isn't too good. :)

Alc skin looks awesome aswell as the concept art for the Silenced Cathedral. I love the mural from Soul Reaver it looks like they're making a statue of.
