HI folks I have a question regarding to the hub areas of Mankind Divided. Do you know how many of these we can expect? We already know about prague but what about other hubs?

You won't get an answer to that. They might reveal one additional hub, probably a North American one, but no others.

I'm assuming there'll be about three full hubs in the game. That seems about the sweet spot for most games. Enough diversity without too much development costs.

Hi and welcome.

Nothing official, but plenty of speculation for Montreal, Paris and Hong Kong.

So far, Prague is the only confirmed major location, but it's known that an area called Utulek station will be in the game. This is a prison camp where the augmented have been rounded up and sent to. This location is supposedly based on Kowloon Walled City.
Montreal, Hong Kong, and Paris may be locations as well since the Illuminati members in the trailer hail from these areas. It's also possible that locations that didn't make it into Human Revolution, like the upper level of Hengsha, could find their way into this game.

Hello again my dear deus ex brothers and sisters. Thank you very much for the responses I am indeed very excited about more information regarding to the hubs. Hong kong would be ideal given the fact that deus ex mankind divided is the direct prequel to deus ex original I suppose.

I wish they'd finally give us Lagos...

But yeah, the "usual" DX pattern is, "one American City, one Asian/African City, one European city". In HR's case, Montreal hub that wasn't w supposed to fill in for "european", heh.

For whatever reason, my gut reaction suggests we'll finally get some Deus Ex universe's Tokyo, since MD is going further along the "classic" cyberpunk tropes than HR did, in that it's more about social adversity, less about hopeful discovery.

So yeah, my totally unconfirmed guesses would be a West coast North American city, Tokyo, and Prague.

We have two confirmed Hub Areas:

1. Prague

2. Dubai

What do you guys think of these two areas?

I really like Prague; seemingly a nice fit for Deus Ex.

I am not so sure about Dubai.

Very happy about both to be honest.
What worries you about Dubai?

There really isn't a more cyberpunk city than Dubai right now. There are a million and one reasons that it is the perfect city to include in a cyberpunk game. For one, by all accounts it will be more advanced than any American city within the decade. It's an impressively advanced urban sprawl that's erupted out of the sand in just the last fifty years, and has made nearly all its strides in the last ten. They're hosting the World Expo 2020.

Look at this city's development over the last ten years: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dubai%27s_Rapid_Growth.ogv

And look at the city itself:
http://cache-graphicslib.viator.com/graphicslib/destination/dubai-145882.jpg

And just tell me it isn't a perfect fit for a Deus Ex (or any cyberpunk) game.

Dubai is the tutorial level. It might not be an entire hub. Prague seems to be the hub that's getting the most attention during development. I hope the other hubs won't feel like a letdown.

Bros, I wish there wouldn't be any kind of hubs. They only hindered Deus Ex. I like it when I have linear levels which I can follow, since in Human Revolution I constantly got lost. Invisible War is a better game in this regard, since it doesn't force me to wander around a large area, which were empty and boring in Deus Ex and HR.

I hope Dubai ends up just being the whole first area. It deserves much more than a tutorial level.

So Would this city, known as Kowloon although probably not as we already have Golem city (it would be cool to see a reference though like one of the older augs you encounter in Hong Kong or somewhere lived there as a child)

a certain number of you may remember this place from COD: Black ops 1, Shenmue, or Shadowrun
keep in mind this place does not it does not exist anymore, it was torn down and turned into a park

I don't mind the Hubs but they should allow us more freedom in being able to explore these places later (assuming we don't screw up these places due to stuff in the story) and maybe even have these places when we comeback later reflect what we've done since then as well like changing headlines in news reports or more soldier patrols just give a better sense of evolution since Eidos-Montreal already said that the story would evolve organically instead of having to choose your own ending

I really don't have a good answer - just a gut feeling.

The city is advanced indeed. I guess they have good reasons for taking us there.

Moscow in the winter would be great.

...but please take us to Tokyo soon - the best Deus Ex city.

How about New York? Its one of the top advance cities in the world! :) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/39/NYC_Top_of_the_Rock_Pano.jpg

And I think it will be good to keep expanding on the cities so eventually it can become one big open world? :) if that is a reason to connect all the cities together. Because the cities we see in Deus is compact so they can add alot to existing cities!

It could become a choice of which cities you want to explore! So you buy major DLC of cities you want! Stories that interest you from those cities so if your not a fan of terrorism in the east you could go to the west and explore those cities? This might be in the future because cities can still expand!

That only seems logical to expand on the cities or even just concentrate on one city at a time? Would this be better then having several cities you can go too?

I would love to see a New York hub. We did visit the city in the original Deus Ex, but obviously it didn't look very impressive - with better technology they'll now be able to capture the look and feel of this massive metropolis.

We'll probably see New York at some point, but not in Mankind Divided.

Way too interesting a city to only give it a tutorial level. Exploring Dubai could be so fascinating in so many ways.

Possibly a hint that London may be a location in game...?

It would make sense as far as relevance goes, but might feel kind of bland since usually the other non-North American locations in Deus Ex games are places with a primarily non-English speaking population.

It might be, but it might not be a complete hub. The posters says that the event is at Apex tower. That would be an extremely easy way for them to give players a different hub in a city without having to actually do the city. Think Picus TV headquarters in Montreal.
