So, Mr. J takes photos of drugged victims in the Dark Room. But - why? He can't even publish the photos since people would recognize Kate or Rachel or whoever else. Is he just a complete sociopath or is there anything more? Or perhaps he publishes only the abstract ones where is not available to see the face of the victims?

He obvously can't publish them anyhere: even 'faceless' ones would be too risky. He is just a complete sociopath.

Some of his work was displayed at the school, the "faceless" ones. Whether or not they are actually published is up for debabte.

I'd say those were of slightly lesser shocking value than the photos of tortured young women at the wall of the bunker.

Good point. I'm pretty sure there would've been a lot of explaining to do if the school allowed bondage pictures to be displayed.

Well, these photos in the Dark Room might not be the only ones. He can have some publishable photos.

And what if Mark Jefferson is not a villain at all? No, far from it. He might be actually a hero who successfully saved Arcadia Bay.

I'm still stuck on the several hundred [slight exaggeration] red binders in the clipboard. Exactly how many girls were victims? How long has he been doing this [that saying that all of the binders belong to Jefferson and not the Prescott's]?

Number of victims can be very huge. As far as we know only Rachel Amber was killed. And Kate Marsh was so depressed not because of act itself but because of that viral video. Think about it: if video wouldn't existed and no one would make fun of her and so, no one would put much attention on it, including Kate herself.

So, maybe in Kate's case something actually got very wrong if you look on it from kidnapper's perspective.

Which is probably a reason why Nathan and Mr. Jefferson were equally as cruel to her. She might not have known a lot, but she remembered Nathan taking her to the Dark Room; even though she didn't know what it really was and thought it was a hospital. Poor Rachel and Kate.

Let's not forget Chloe could've also been a victim. She was drugged, Nathan has a picture of her in the comatose state in his room. Luckily, she got out before anything else happened. Could be a great reason that Mr. Jefferson wanted her killed? SO MANY VARIABLES!

And maybe they agenda is actually to prevent Armageddon? After all they clearly aware that it is coming.

Nothing has ever been clear thus far. We can only theorise that they know. But maybe they are clueless. Nathan may say "a storm is coming" but he may be referring to his own rage-induced-storm. Speaking to himself in episode one he stated he could burn down/blow up (cant remember) the school if he wanted to". Maybe he planned to.

There was no binder for Chloe, though. Personally, I think that picture of Chloe, curled up and drugged, was just Nathan trying his hand at Jefferson-type photography, as his 'Apprentice' and all (Mr. Jefferson may not even know about that photo).

Interesting...but Jefferson is a successful photographer after all, and he traveled a lot around the world before. Im sure he's been doing this for a long time. I say its all about his art.

I agree. Im sure we'll find that it is to fulfill his deepest photographic urges and nothing more. And as previously mentioned, he would have been doing this in other places before coming to Arcadia Bay and long before Nathans alleged involvement.

Why would Sean Prescott pay so much money to the bunker then?

We may find that one of the Prescotts are commissioning Jefferson to do the photos and in order to lure a world renowned photographer with a eye for dark photography; they fit out the studio, pay him well and give him a job at the school which they practically own.

It could be that Jefferson has gotten himself in too deep. Rachel has left him (not dead) and skipped town when she realised he took advantage of her (drugging and photographing her). Nathan was supplying Jefferson the drugs and found out what he was doing asking Jefferson to teach him more (as he too was interested in the same genre). Jefferson agreed. However, Being a loose cannon, Nathan discovered that his friend Victoria was next and went off the rails and was going to make public Jeffersons methods so Nathan was killed off. Everything started to fall apart for him from here and when he realised the girls were on to him he had to trap them and stop them.

Meanwhile, Jefferson is still trying to sort out his relationship with Rachel and make amends ( his conversation outside the classroom was with Rachel ). He couldnt let anyone know about the relationship because again it would jeopordise his position at the school and ruin his reputation. Rumours of Rachel having slept with him was bad enough.

But considering geek remix theory, jeff is attracted to shy, innocent and helpless girls. Rachel was more like Chloe, right?

Still haven't figured out who makes the call, what about the girl who spread the rumor?, or the other guy with the portfolio back in ep 1?

I think the being 'attracted to shy, innocent and helpless girls' was more Geek Remix's milder explanation of what Mr. Jefferson was doing. It was likely more of the literal 'capture in a dark corner, in a moment of desperation' thingy that drives him. Or a bit of both, probably.

VUylvern

Yep... Maybe he likes to capture those moments of desperation.

Although, someone said that he´s a fan of a certain photographer that likes to capture that innocence phase before they become "tainted" adults.

actually that dialogue went like this:

Jefferson: Now, can you give an example of a photographer who perfectly captured the human condition in black and white?
Victoria: Diane Arbus.
Jefferson: There you go, Victoria! Why Arbus?
Victoria: Because of her images of hopples faces.
Jefferson: She saw humanity as tortured, right? And, frankly, it is a bull<censored>. I could frame any one of you in a dark corner, and capture you in a moment of desperation. And any one of you could do that to me. Isn't that too easy? Too obvious?

and i think that it makes things little more complicated.

Sorry, but I think all Geek Remix theories are bullsheet. They're making theories that don't make sense in the context and doesn't fit to the established rules.

I've tried to think of the one reason why he'd be doing those things to Rachel, Kate and others. And the one reason I could think of is that, either it's a sick obsession of his, or maybe he's searching for "the perfect model", or something like that.
