If I do the 14 day free trial for FF14, can I use a registration code from Amazon to unlock the full game or must I buy it from the site. I know it just came out so I'm hoping for an official response since players probably don't know the answer to this.

I would imagine if you purchase the game through Amazon then you will get access to the full game when you use the registration code you get with your purchase.

Hello everyone, so I recently subscribed to the FFXIV two-week trial version of the game and I have some concerns on the format that the trial is being offered in.

So, a bit of background on me: I played WoW for 3 years in vanilla, TERA online for 6 months and an assortment of other MMO's spanning back the past decade. I'd like to first say that I'm having a blast with FFXIV's mechanics. The combat system feels fluid and initially I was quite intrigued to see the late game scenarios.

My main concern with the trial is the fact that parties are not allowed. This to me seems to be blatant mishandling by SQUARE. How do they expect people to subscribe and become full-time paying members of the community? Isn't the entire point of an MMORPG to engage in the community, make friends, and become badly addicted (excuse my language). But seriously, where is the logic?

I know I won't be playing after the trial expires. It's just unreasonable. How am I supposed to make friends in the game during the trial? And the friends that I do have, the ones who also want to try out the game and potentially become customers--How are they supposed to enjoy the game with me and nurture a relationship with the FXIV title? Additionally, the trial only allows one character per server.. This also is a poor decision as it limits the user from exploring different classes and finding out which one really sticks with them.

I'm very disappointed with this trial and hope that SQUARE will be less restrictive on the accounts in future free trials. What do they have to lose? To me, it seems that they only have something to gain by being less restrictive--more subscriptions.

Additionally, the trial only allows one character per server.. This also is a poor decision as it limits the user from exploring different classes and finding out which one really sticks with them.

You're mistaken on this point, 1 character can be every class on this game, once you reach level 10 with your starting class you can join the other guilds and swap classes at will.

As for the restrictions on parties, joining Linkshells or Free Companies, the trial is there to let people experience the gameplay itself, the social aspect is nothing if you don't actually enjoy how the game plays. The social restrictions are also there to deter gil sellers from creating extra accounts to do their illegal trade.

It's free after all, what more can you want but to try before you buy, even after that if you purchase the game you then get a further 30 days 'trial' which has all the options the game has to offer. It's not exactly expensive these days, it was £25 for the PS3 version when I got it at launch but is only £3.99 now, that's a bargain for a months play of a MMO.

Well, yes the trial is free, and the game is not too expensive really, but that's not really the point I was trying to make. If SQUARE wants people to play their game their goal should be to get people hooked. Engaging a new user in the community is the number one way to do this. The fact of the matter is that many people who are just trying the game out with their existing friends will be deterred simply because they cannot party with one another. This is the main issue I have with the trial.. Honestly the core game play combat mechanics feel nice. Reminds me of TERA with more movement restriction. But the mechanics alone are not enough to keep me playing. I'd like to be able to invite someone I see leveling alongside me into a party. Or better yet, binge-play with one of my roommates for the two week trial. But in the current trial state this is impossible.

I downloaded the trial so I could try out the game, and I have made an account for SE, though when I go through the login on the trial, it won't let me login.

What exactly do I need to do to get into the trial?

I have just downloaded the trial.
When I click open it asks me what do I want to use to open the download?

Shouldn't it auto run? I have no idea what I should use to open it as it gives a list that includes windows explorer, work, excel and a few others.

am I doing something wrong?

Tried to user your 14 day free trial for The Realm Reborn. Made two different accounts, received NO keys.

Your account management system is complete ****. I've wasted over two hours on a free trial that should have been up and running hours ago.

At least it happened at this level instead of you having my credit card information. No wonder none of my friends will touch this game, you can't even get the basic logistics down!

Taking my money, going somewhere else and telling everyone I know to stay away from this garbage.

Hi, I've also got the same problem, what should I do? Should there be trial button or something?

I downloaded the demo of Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn on the PS3, but I can't play it. :/ It is asking for PSN Card number or promotion code. How can I get past this? I don't have either of those. Please help! I really want to try it.

edit: Also would I have to pay a monthly thing for the PS3 version if I were to buy the full version? Because I read somewhere that you do, and I find that dumb for a PS3 game. And there is no way I'd be able to pay it. :/ But I need to make sure.

edited again: Okay well I got it to kinda work on my brother's user account on the PS3 instead of mine, but I want to link it my sony entertainment account, not my brother's. For some reason I can't do anything on my account on the PS3. It says it needs a promo code, but my brother's doesn't. I have no idea why. Though if I can't get any help, not really sure on what to do. I'll end up wasting the demo... Not sure why a demo needs all this.

edit: Finally got it work. Got help on another website. I had to "repurchase" the free trial with my PSN account. Now I'm waiting on the client to update which is going to take forever! And I just know people are going to end of complaining about the internet being slow later today..

Hi, I'm thinking of downloading the free trial of FFXIV but since my internet has limited bandwidth, I wanna some questions first:

1. Is my laptop good enough to run this game decently (decent as in not having stutters and having enjoyable visual experience)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200M @ 2.5GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M
RAM: 4 GB
1. Will I have to redownload the whole thing if I buy the full game later?
2. How big is the download size for the trial? (and the full game if there's a difference between them)

Thanks

Also, I tried to login in http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forum.php but it asked for a 'one time password' and you get it from a device/token that you have to purchase, or from a software in a smartphone. Should I get the token/a phone to play this game or what :o

Title pretty much says it all, but just to emphasise.

I set up this account today, so I could trial FFOnline. Obviously it works, as I'm typing this now.

But when the Final Fantasy install/launcher pops up it simply wont accept my username and password Says Username or password is incorect.

Do I need to buy one of these one time gadgets before I can play a trial? Seems ubsurd, so I'm leaving that blank.. Is that the wrong thing to do?

Help greatly appreciated,

thanks

Hi all,

I've been using the PS4 FFXIV trial version for the last few days (which I'm loving by the way!) and as such have just purchased the disc version. When I first booted the trial version it downloaded the initial patch, which took a very long time due to intermittent ISP issues.

I'm wondering if any of you have experience switching from the digital trial version to a disc version, and if it will need to re-download the patch files when I first boot it? I'm hoping, as the patch has already been downloaded and installed from the trial client, that it won't need to.

Many thanks for any advice you can give!

Im trying to play the free trial on my ps4. I am able to login on Square enix, I cant log in on my ps4. Do we need a one-time pasword? Yes or no please.

Christ. Made an account on "Mog Station" and in big, gigantic bold letters it says "Transfer to regular service". Then it says I need to wait 1 day before it can transfer me... "sigh". Well after hours of rage and this being my last resort I find the solution... Well here's hoping someone else finds this useful!

Hi SE,

This forum seems relatively dead so I'm not holding out hope my query will be answered.

I got the hankering to play some FFXIV today. I haven't played since 2013 so a few years. I install and go to log in using my account credentials but am met with a 'one time password' authentication request. After I bit of poking around it appears that you guys have deployed some better security for accounts -which is awesome- but I don't ever remember setting anything like this up on my account. I sure as heck don't have an 'emergency password' that apparently is given out when one sets up the software token app on a mobile device.

I've contacted support asking if it's possible to unlink my account with the security token feature so I may log in and re-register it with the software token so I can actually install the app (with the registration password that is given out when you activate this feature) and use it so I can then log in and play. I've never contacted SE support so I'm not sure how this will be met.

But in the mean time I decided to set up a free trial on a fresh account, however it seems that you guys are not sending out activation emails? I can create a new account via the Square Enix website for forums and shopping etc but when setting it up for the sole purpose of taking advantage of a free trial I don't get the authentication email. It's like you guys don't want people to play your game.

Have things gone belly up? Is FFXIV on the verge of being shutdown? Everything seems incredibly difficult just to play.

Yeah im not sure what they did either, when i logged in i had to re-setup my account all over again even though i already had one. And dont bother with the trial, no emails get sent to finish the registration, basically broken. And yes the forums are basically dead, easily noticed after looking around a bit.

So if your a new player that wants to play? Not goona happen.

Kinda wish they'd fix things already.

Also i see forum mods on, but they never say anything from what ive noticed =/

EDIT: Dont bother with the trial on the website, its outdated, dead and a waste of time. Just go for the one on steam.
