View Full Version : Unable to Complete Game - Tomb of the Architect Bug

Lumokinesis
18th Dec 2014, 03:19
Hi,

I have completed all of the missions except for one, it is the Tomb of the Architect. The current mission says to "Restore Osiris's command over the Cold". I am unable to gain access to the tomb even though the statues point to that tomb. When I stand on the tiles nothing happens, from watching a video I noticed it is supposed to cause the cog to move and then you need to bomb the ice off of the cogs. I have all of the parts to the body apart from the head. But I am pretty sure I have completed everything in the order that the games points me in.

Thanks

Paul.

I have the same problem. PS4. Last patch installed. All statues point to the same location. I recorded a short clip, if that helps.

Well, judging from the Video hausnes made, i can confirm, that your struggles have nothing to do with the latest Patch.

The cogs are unable to move, because they are still iced. You need to "bomb off" the ice from four cogs in total, before you're supposed to stand on the tiles, don't even try to blast off the Chamber Door, waste of time. (and bombs)

That should work, as i completed the game twice by now without any major issues, once just yesterday with Patch 1.2 installed.

I am unable to gain access to the tomb even though the statues point to that tomb. When I stand on the tiles nothing happens, I have watched the video and it goes to a cut seen and the cogs move a little bit then you have to blow up the ice. It will not go to the cut seen so I cannot proceed. This happened to me earlier in the game and I have to restart the complete game, this is yet another glitch. Please sort it out as this has become extremely annoying.

I'm sorry I didn't show that me and my wife indeed did try to blow up the ice, too. Indeed, we tried hundreds of times. So much in fact that my wife got sick of it and left. The video was recorded after long hours of testing for everything.. I've just tried this again today, solo, and there's no chance of getting the cogs moving by standing on the tile and launching grenades, rockets or mining them.

Really love the game, but I was looking forward to getting 100% completion after finishing the story, not doing it all again because of a buggy game.

Same exact issue for me as well. The door is closed & the cogs are stuck frozen. I even deleted the game & re-downloaded bu to no avail. Will Square Enix step in on this please? What a huge inconvenience.

I have the exact same issue. (PS4) I also tried the "solution" mentioned on this forum to no avail:

http://forums.eu.square-enix.com/showthread.php?t=149067

No matter on which account or which save I try, either solo or with another player the issue persist. Safe to say I regret buying the season pass for this game. This should be fixed ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys I figured put a way to fix this problem.
Here's what I did (PS4):
Deleted the game => Re-downloaded the game => before you start the game after you've redownloaded the game, delete the update file (the game will update itself if the update file is downloaded on your console. Make sure you cancel the update file download whenever it's initiated.

Enjoy!

Hey there,

Sorry you're having trouble with this tomb. The team in the office is trying to reproduce the issue to get to the bottom of what caused it. I know you've found a workaround for the time being, but if you have a moment to answer these questions it may help us sort the problem out. When you were playing, were you:

Local co-op or network multiplayer?
Did the players join in progress or on the main menu?
If the players joined in-progress (instead of on the main menu) at what point in the game did they join?
When the other player joined the first player did they have save progress?
If local co-op was the second player signed into a real profile or a guest profile?

Again, really sorry for the trouble!

Glad you are looking into it! :)

Local co-op.
Joined at main menu.
First session player 2 joined and chose NO on copy. Second session (when we came to the Tomb Of The Architect) we tried YES on copy.
Player 2 is a real profile.

Another thing I remember; on getting one of the earlier body parts (sorry, cannot remember which) we did not go to the center of the area to see the cut scene, we jumped straight into another tomb. If that helps..

Hello,
I completed every tombs except tomb of the architect cuz gears never move (Squared tiles have no function),I deleted the game and re-downloaded and i was start to play version 1.00 so without any patch but no luck so never works for me.It was says ''Restore Osiris's command over the Cold'' and now after installed patch then says ''Find out a way of the Pyramid'' what the hell is this? So Kepri(Left Side) and Sobek (Right Side) (It was completed also) is location and on the middle no way to out because blocked with the ice.I really like the game then i bought season pass too but i'll be soon regret really.I hope upcoming patch will resolve that annoying bug.I just want to say thanks in advance,Who cares with the problem then......

P.S:I'm a PS4 user too.

It has to be an issue with the latest update cause if I delete and reinstall the game and let it update I still have the same problem,
But if I delete and reinstall the game and delete the update, it lets me progress in the game.

I totally understand your frustration, but promise we are trying to sort it out too. As a quick update for everyone, we're still trying to reproduce the issue with information here and from those of you who have submitted tickets. Finding the specific trigger is the tricky part.

I'm sorry we don't have a more concrete update at the moment, but I want to ensure you we're still on this!

If you're new to this thread and can fill out a ticket on the Square Enix Support thread so we can get more details of exactly when this bug occurred for you, it would be much appreciated: http://tombraider.tumblr.com/techsupport

Same problem for me on the PS4. Playing single player last night and just defeated the Pharoah. Went back to the shrine for the cut scene and it shows I am only missing the head now. The statues point me to the tomb of the architect but the button will not press down near the door to start the cog sequence. Also my mini map no longer shows me a yellow "next" dot and the temple of the architect is not listed on the map either.I spent hours last night and am totally stuck and unable to proceed.

Hi MM,

I am stuck in the same place and I have an idea what might have triggered it - I remember I was playing with my friend and we went to that location before we were supposed to. Maybe that's the reason? At least it's worth a try.

I am also having exactly the same problem, and so I can't continue in the game. I'm playing multiplayer, with someone who doesn't have a separate account on my machine but does login to PSN before playing alongside me.
There's simply no cut scene explaining the cogs once we get to the place in question - we only realised something was up when we looked at youtube videos and even though it was single player, we knew something wasn't quite right. The iced cogs are identical, but we can't do anything with them. Also, there's no yellow 'next' marker on the map either.

I'd love to know if there's an ETA for a fix, as otherwise it's been largely wasted money on buying this game. :-(

Same problem on my ps4 copy of the game.
I was playing single player

As other people here i had visited the door of the temple before in the game, and i think after defeating the pharaoh i had gone to the door first than in the osiris statue.

I too visited this section of the game early on before I would normally have access to the tomb of the architect. I joined another player that was in the process of blowing the ice off the cogs. I selected not to update my game to this point as I wanted to keep my single player progress. I dropped out of the game and picked back up on my single player game. Everything was fine until now I am actually supposed to unlock the tomb but can't. The other issue I noticed is that my game now says I have 0 of the five optional tombs complete. I previously completed all five of these but my game now says zero. If I go back in and complete one of them again it still shows zero are complete.

Hi Meagan,

Getting to the party late, thought I could add my 2 cents and hopefully give you guys some help in solving the problem.

Firstly I have the same problem as everyone else in this thread. All tombs completed except Tomb of the Architect.

Playing Conditions:

Local
Hosting private game (single player)
Only I playing starting from menu
N/A
N/A

PSN Digital Download, Version 01.02 Last Updated 18/12/14

First Played 14/12/14

So now to actually playing the game.

Completed the Tombs as the story instructed me to do right up until the Snow area. At this point after crossing the iced bridge rather than heading Up(North/West) to the tomb of the architect I headed down (East) and completed the Tomb of the Torturer never actually seeing the plate or jammed cogs until I had completed both other snow tombs and the challenge tomb.

This leads me to believe that if another tomb is entered/completed before the plate is activated, prompting the cut scene, the plate it self deactivates and can no longer start the chain of events that lets the player open the tomb.

Hope this helps, If you have any further questions let me know.

Regards

L1QU1DD

Thanks so much for the feedback and information you've provided in regards to the Tomb of the Architect bug on the PlayStation 4. The QA team has committed a sizable amount of time to trying to reproduce the issue and get to the bottom of what is triggering it.

They've taken into account the details and scenarios you've provided, both in these forums and with your video uploads, but at this time are still unable to find the root of the problem. This means we can’t promise a fix, though we will continue to monitor the forums for any new details. We don’t expect anyone starting a new game will be affected by this issue, so we suggest you restart the game. All of your items will be saved.

I wanted to give you an update rather than keep you waiting, and deeply apologize that you’re experiencing this issue.

It's happened to a small percentage of players, not everyone so please don't blow the issue out of proportion and demand a refund :o As Meagan explained, the team have to recreate the problem themselves before they can deduce what it causing it; so unless you're able to start a new game and find out what causes the issue yourself (which could be a challenge), you're either going to have to be patient and hope that the team solve it soon or as Meagan said, restart the game; in which you'll still keep your items :)

I've tried the restart. That it's happening to even a tiny number is still an issue that needs o be solved. Obviously it has to do with the latest patch. I'm obviously not serious about the refund as I do love the game, but i'd love to be able to finish it on my console of choice (PS4)...

How do you delete the update after re-downlaoding the game? Also, will I lose my save file?

I can't believe this issue still hasn't been resolved a month after the game's release.
They have no problem selling additional DLC when the main game is still broken.
I expect better customer service form a Square Enix game.

I want to say that I'm having the same problem too. I have played mostly two and three player local on the PS4 to the point of the tomb of the architect. At this point, I can't seem to thaw the gears with anything I've tried. I've also tried starting single player games with each of the PS4 user names to see whether that made a difference, and nothing has worked.

I also see that we only solved 4 of 5 challenge tombs. Could that make a difference in the thawing of the gears?

I also haven't tried any of the workarounds yet, such as the uninstalling of the game and canceling the automatic update. I was hoping the cause may be determined soon and a patch provided.

It's so disappointing to hear that the bug can't be reproduced - it looks like we're all in the minority and just very unlucky. Restarting might work, but going through the game again doesn't sound very appealing and there's always the chance that the same thing will happen again.
Now the game has been out for a while, I think our chances of a fix are very slim...time to sell unfortunately and try to get some money back. :-(

I know, I agree it's a major bummer that we haven't been able to get to the bottom of what's causing this. The bug has occurred only to a very small number of people, but I know that isn't any consolation when a game you're excited to play isn't working properly. You have my genuine sympathy.

Per my conversation with the QA team, it is unlikely the bug will occur again should you decide to start over, but I understand that isn't the most appealing option.

If I have any updates on this issue, I'll post here first and foremost.

I'm a software developer too, so I know that reproducing a bug can be challenging, sometimes very challenging. However, the fact that this bug has affected all of us (in this thread) means that the bug could be reproduced, with enough effort.
So, I'm very disappointed: I've sold my copy of the game yesterday and I'll think twice before buying any Square Enix game in the future.

My suggestion to CD is to make a specific patch that patches the saved game information that the game keeps and tick the door/area or whatever variable/s that needs to be ticked in the save game data for the game to interpret the door/area as already open. Hence the player would be able to enter it, and so move on.

Yes, I know that means some people can cheat using the selective patch of course. However since your dev team doesn't seem to find the reason behind this doing it this way at least the people who would like to finish the game can do so without replaying the entire thing.

I totally agree. This should be done as a service to those of us having problems.

I hit the same problem today.
Digital version installed 14/12/2014, Had the latest patch, playing alone in local private setup. (Been playing the game on and off since Xmas)
I remember going and stepping on the pad outside the temple in question earlier than required and I think a sound was heard but no cut scene. I grabbed the red helmet thing off the top of this temple (which made 5/5 at that point) and then I went and did the temple to the south.
Later on when needing to open this temple the pad looks inactive (maybe depressed already) and no cut scene plays.
I deleted the game and reinstalled without letting the patch install and as soon as the game started it played the stuck/frozen cogs cutscene immediately and prompted me to free 4 cogs.
From this point I've been able to continue successfully. (Haven't installed the patch yet)

I'm playing local co-op (1 other person). We did the exact same thing and are having the exact same problem. I think you might be on to something. Completing the Tomb of the Torturer before the Tomb of the Architect may be associated with the problem.

I'm guessing there was never a fix for this? Tried playing it on PS4 and got this far in about 5 hours and then stuck on this part... Was really enjoying the game and so bummed out but have no time or patience to start over.

Already tried reinstalling and running the game pre-patch installation.

Same problem. I have the gold edition on disk and the reinstall did not fix it. I can't do the extra dlc tombs either because the next one is still frozen over.
Why are they not fixing this?
