View Full Version : Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris announced.

During the excitement for Rise of The Tomb Raider, info for a new Lara Croft game got missed. Here's a trailer that also got shown at E3 during the Spike show. There's little info on it, but it seems Lara from Guardian of Light is back with a few friends for four player Co-op. It's not known if Keeley Hawes voiced this version of Lara or if someone new took the VA job.

I just saw the stage demo with scott amos; looks very good. I love the characters, especially carter, i always thought there had to be some kind of rival archeologist in tomb raider, similar to the the french guy in the first indiana jones film. If the other guy is horus though, can't he have a falcon head?

I just replayed Temple of Light in celebration of this announcement.

The only burning questions is release date - how soon is "soon"?

I dunno if this is the correct thread for this, but there isn't a 'news' thread as such.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris will be shown and playable (?) at San Diego Comic Con Fri 25 and Sat 26 July. According to Tomb Raider News (http://www.tombnews.com/news/2014/07/1401/)

Wow, that's shaping up nicely! So many novelties (swimming, elemental damage, the Seth cutscene...). I quite liked the loot system although I'm a bit wary of how this will actually reflect on us completists. D:

Still, December 9. Time to start saving for a PS4. :D

Brilliant! I love it :D

Nice to see that there's a little more storytelling in this game than there was in Guardian. And I love that part about Egyptian mythology, and Horus is about as cocky as one would expect from a god :)

Um, hard to say, exactly...mid to late 20s. I don't think she looks older than early 30s.

I wonder why Lara is separated by a line in the character selection screen? Obvious reason is that singleplayer is Lara only for sure. Likely reason is that at least one player must be Lara (in a two- or three-player match)?

I see 30, on the nose, in the character select menu. Just something about her. Yet... this is supposed to be much further into her career, and of course, a completely different universe so... hm.

Loving the look though. Though I'm still not here for the fringe.

Definitely a Hitman reference. (Goddamn, Lara looks HOT in a suit.)

Much better than the Hitman stuff we had in TR2013 if you ask me. Hopefully we'll still see more stuff like this: I loved the character packs in LCGOL.

So I just figured out that the Gold Edition will be sold in stores.

''Sold in stores?'' I thought. ''Could it be that?... no''

Does this mean that the box you get contains a disc inside and an internet connection for download is not required? I can pop in the disc and play? :D

After Googeling for a while I found one website that says it has a download code. Since you ordered it on Bol I assume you're a Dutchman? Then I guess you know the Game Mania stores as well. They always mention it when a download code is involved. Their website says:

The Gold Edition includes:
- Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris game
- Season pass voor de aankomende DLC
- Artbook
- Map of the overworld
- Mini Lara figurine

I can't find anything about a code on Game Mania but I guess it's also possible that the 'game' in the game package consists of a piece of paper with a code on it. Fine with me, although a box always looks nicer on the bookshelf :)

AdeleDazeem, in some regions it will be Digital Download only, and in some there will be actual physical discs of the game. Crystal hasn't made public yet what territories get what. That's down to SE to decide, and they may be still in the process of doing just that.

My guess is that Holland will get physical discs, as usual. But time will tell.

One of my family members runs several Game Mania stores in Holland, though, so he might know...

I had a feeling, but wasn't sure!
However, I've never heard of a code that comes in a regular box. But I guess there's a first time for everything. *cough Rise of the Tomb Raider *cough.

Since the PS4 is regionfree I'm happy to get it elsewhere. But so far PAL regions always get the retail release, thanks to the awful internet in New Zealand! I really hope it does, cause I've been ignoring ToO because I won't get it unless it's on a disc in a box. :nut:

Oh, I didn't mean it like that. Just that we're both PAL regions and we get whatever they get. And because of the bad internet connection in NZ they get a lot of download only games retail. :)

I guess that means that *game digital download code, disc not included only counts for the PC/Steam version? I also think I may be going blind. Found this in the FAQ

The Gold Edition in Europe for PC and PS4 will have a disk. In North America, the Gold Edition box contains all of the physical collectibles, and then digital download codes for the game and the season pass are provided separately.

And that's great news! I'm nearly done with my current novel. Thanks for the update ^^

Edit.
Has anyone here played Guardian of Light alone and offline? I skipped GoL due to it's download-only release. I'm probably going to play Temple of Osiris alone for the most part, so... just curious about what people thought. :)

I have. I thought it was great. I've never played a co-op game w/ anyone, so I can't say how much is different (enemy numbers, puzzle difficulty, etc.) between solo and co-op, but I can say the cutscenes are a bit odd solo. Totec shows up, Lara says something like: "Right! Let's go!", cutscene ends, Totec's gone. Small detail tho. Again, it's a great game.

I don't typically play this kind of 'Metal Slug' type arcade shooter, and I'd never have looked twice at it if it weren't a Lara game, and I really found myself enjoying it much more than I'd anticipated. The combat was a lot of fun, the puzzles were excellent and a cure-all for those thinking they were lacking in TR9, and the various challenges (time trials, "Destroy X amount of blah in X seconds!") were actually loads of fun and very rewarding. And for fans of 'Legend', 'Anni', & 'Underworld', the soundtrack is excellent. I highly recommend it.

And some of the above mentioned challenges are friggin' hard. But that makes them very satisfying once you've completed them. Full disclosure: I've not yet completed all of them. I speak for the ones I have, which is maybe 85% of them.

My only "complaint" is the DLC challenge packs aren't that satisfying. They're fun, yes, but they don't really offer the sense of accomplishment and awards the main campaign does. And if you've played all the challenges in one challenge pack, you've played all of the challenge packs.

I played GoL in co-op and it was awesome, it definitely adds another level of fun, having to co-ordinate yourselves in big sequences. Winter is correct about the whole cut scene constancy part, it is only a small detail though.
I'll be playing Osiris alone ( :( ) but I'm still expecting it to be a blast! :D It might be worth getting GoL before Osiris is out and just getting to grips with the game beforehand ;)

Ah, and I forgot: In single player mode of G.o.L. you play as Lara by default. No choice of playing as Totec, which having never played co-op and therefore having no clue what his abilities are I can't say is being "robbed" of anything. Meaning I don't know for sure if there'd have to have been two versions of each level for both characters because he can do this, she can't, vice versa, and you need one of those skills (Lara's grapple for example) to progress. But I think it's a fair guess tho, because the grapple does come into play quite a bit.

But I was slightly disappointed by that because I did want to see what he was capable of.

AdeleDazeem

Thanks guys, you're really helpfull (I love the community on this site)

I'm glad to hear mulitiple people have played GoL alone and still enjoyed every last bit of it. I've played various games that were ment to be played co-op, but still really liked playing alone. Such as Fuse, Inversion, All 4 One etc. Actually I think GoL sounds pretty cool with just Lara, so it's probably the same with Osiris!

Just a minor detail, you can play Osiris offline right? :)

Yes, you can play offline :D

Also, Winter, the only differences between Totec and Lara are that Totec cannot stand on the spears to reach higher areas and he has a shield that Lara can use to jump on. IIRC there is an achievement/trophy for jumping off of Totec's shield whilst Totec is jumping :)

I'm actually wondering if you're forced to play as Lara in Osiris single player too...
