View Full Version : Request for the next Hitman game

I have played most of the Hitman games (Except for Codename 47 and Contracts but have seen the full storyline) and I really enjoyed those old ones. When I played Hitman: Absolution, have to admit I enjoyed it but it didn't really feel like the old ones (In a good way and in a bad way) it felt like to me, like it went off road abit.

I'm sure some gamers will agree. It was weird using the 4 buttons to kill someone also when it pops up like a sore thumb telling you to open a door. The story was alright to a point but I say again if you were to compare Absolution to the likes of Hitman 2, I would pick Hitman 2 any day. I would like for the next Hitman game (If they're is going to be a next one) to have the same amazing feeling like Silent Assassin did, I would like it to be that same kinda dark setting Silent Assassin had, even the music from the old games had better feeling then Absolution the levels were bigger in the olds (or at least it felt like they were) and Absolutions felt rather small to a point.

I'm not saying Absolution was a bad but rather a disapointment to what I was expecting. I would like to hear what other players have to say on the matter of what they would like in the next Hitman game and if they agree or disagree with what this post says. :)

You said it all! Absolution, was a good game, but imo didn't come close to the previous games. You could just be a lot more creative in the "old" ones. A lot of this had to do with the ability to choose what kind of weapon you started a map with.

I also think there weren't enough targets in Absolution. I like Blood Money the most because every map had his own target(s).

I miss the maps most of all, and the newspaper articles in BM made it real interesting.
Hope SD was a great place, a small rural feel to it. But I'm hoping they go back to roaming around old concrete cities like St. Petersburg in HM2. Maybe like Moscow, Rome, Berlin or NY would be awesome. Not spent inside of buildings like Chicago was.

The player contracts was a genius idea, hopefully they keep them. But maybe add an edit or delete function and a comments section like YouTube has This way you could maybe find out how some people manage to get these INSANELY high scores. And also compliment them or offer a different twist to their mission, instead of just a :thumb:
Overall a great game though. I'm still playing it religiously.:worship:

I missed Silent Assasin atmosphere too (I finished that game several times). I enjoyed Absolution, it's a good game after all, but it didn't give me the same feeling as the previous did...

Absolution was my entry into the series and I have several complaints about the game. I'll list them later but hopefully you guys understand that my complaints and suggestions are from the perspective of someone who is new to the series but not new to gaming.

Like all fans, I request a lot of things. But the most important are the maps, open and non-linear levels, the suitcase and of course Jesper Kyd !

How can fans get on board and communicate with the developers, with them actually listening and discussing back with community?

I actually care how Hitman turns out.

Some of my favourite Hitman missions, in no particular order:
Codename 47
1) Traditions of the Trade

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
1) Anathema
2) Invitation to a Party
3) Basement Killing

Contracts missions
1) The Meat King's Party
2) Beldingford Manor
3) Traditions of the Trade (v2 of Budapest Hotel mission)
4) Asylum Aftermath
5) Hunter and Hunted

Hitman: Blood Money
1) A Vintage Year
2) Flatline
3) A New Life
4) The Murder of Crows
5) Till Death Do Us Part (felt like an Redneck Beldingford Manor)
6) A Dance with the Devil (excellent concept and great ambience , love the shark tanks)
7) Requiem (superb ending with an exceptional song being played)

Absolution missions
1) Skurky's Law
2) Shaving Lenny
3) Birdies Gift
4) Terminus
5) Attack of the Saints
6) Welcome to Hope (small bar mission was fun but could be part a small section of a larger environment)
7) Hunter and Hunted

Blood Money appears to have packed the widest range of environments and characters which give each mission a unique feel and different tone.

Conceptually one of my favourite level is 'A Dance with the Devil'. The contrast used throughout the game of bitter and sweet gives the game a quality that provides that supplies me with a emotional connection to Mr. 47.

I would like to see your manager :P

I agree.

The briefing was fun, you where given information, not always correct.
This set the background for the missions story, gave characters an identity and you an incentive to take them out. The missions would unfold as you attempted to locate the targets taking briefing knowledge into account.

The pre-planning element and the communication between agency is a core element which sets Hitman apart from other titles.

Signed!
I missed Jesper Kyd. Would be awsome if he was on board again!
The newspaper at the end of a mission which resumed your skill, should also experience a revival and a free choice, which weapon you want to carry with you (at the beginning of the mission), as well.

But the large, open levels are the most important thing. I'm glad this kind of missions come back.

Great to hear Hitman is still alive, although i like the Assassins creed games and Metal Gear, i believe Hitman, has the best assassination mechanics and overall execution of a contract killer.

I would like to see something like depending on the way you assassinate somebody the story could branch of into different scenarios, would boost up the replay value

Also Id say it would be good to have a more emotional Agent 47 i dont mean him crying etc and doing things and acting emotionally out of character but just less robotic.

Consequences and variable events, eg: LA True Crime promoted the side effects of making decisions.

Replay value will also increase.

Absolution was fine in my opinion. It was fresh air to the franchise, machete kind of characters and interesting visuals. Music was fine I think. But I want to go back to old ways (Sandbox levels, J.K.Rowling oh sorry Jesper Kid and maybe old voice cast I lik old Diana better). Hitman was good because he was original ! Because there is no such game that is like this. Hitman is an anti hero which do clean job for money, creating accidents to people which desereved to be accidently killed by falling piano. I miss this.

I liked the instinct feature in absolution I felt like a predator really. Mostly with fibre wire in a corn field. Anyway map and instinct would be best option to add. Guns? I donĀ“t care. Just Silver ballers for me please I love to look at them. At every detail. And sniper in the case. Just create something like bloodmoney with better graphics and new options - keep old options and add new ones. Rework hand 2 hand combat to something interesting not this minigame crap I hate this thing. And shooting mechanics - get examples from Max Payne 3 I mean moves, cover and more precise shooting while moving - we are dealing with profesional here. For example, when I have a gun and someone is behind a door I can use and instinct, point a gun and bang. Right through his head. But I am looking forward to making fan trailers :D

What Hitman game always has is a large amount of replayability - it is its bigest plus and minus :D
You will still play hitman and replay it, finding new ways. But :D But you will also find out things you miss in the game and you complain about them. This game is never complete and never will be. Because there is simply to much to add. All the stuff we fans want. :D

I like the idea of branching story lines maybe even let people choose what mission they would want to go on.

Emotional 47 was the worst thing ever. They should make the targets more human not 47.

What I'd love to see in Hitman 6:

- First person view brought back, it was a staple feature.
- Disguise system reverted to how it were in previous Hitman games (nice idea but felt broken) even wearing a ice hockey mask people could see through you, and your back at the end of the hallway they could see through you.
- Refined shooting mechanic, or aiming with L1/LT, like max Payne and red dead redemption.
- Jesper Kyd and if course Bateson involved.
- The over view map or upstand map instead of instincts/x-ray vision, I felt that ruined it, I understand it bit 47's instincts and skill should derive from the player observing enemy movement patterns etc.
- Minimal HUD! If resident evil 6 taught us anything about HUDS, big glowing buttons or items on screen are a nono. Makes it feel arcade like and for beginners, also taking away realism. Automatic actions and choosing from writing was fine!
- The WA2000 and sniper case perhaps.
- Being able to customise and select weapons at the start of missions! Even if some where placed by the agency, or what's left.
- The notoriety system was great as it rewarded stealth and punished action.
- The news paper articles were brilliant even if their templates became recognizable the 15th time, most enjoyable debriefing screen in a game, apposed to, numbers and stats..scores should only be in competitive multiplayer modes like contracts, but in single player immersion is key so should only see a brief rundown after. Hopefully after the newspaper debriefing.
- The cover and fire system was a nice addition, silencer attaching in gameplay too (hopefully with a animation now!) same with turning in cover, the gun flew to the other hand.
- Being able to tighten the fibre wire for different kill animation.
- And maybe less emphasis or I don't know if showing off is the right word, for accidents/traps! It's best when they blend very much into the environment and the player can figure them out.
- More personalization of contracts! In Absolution they all looked they same other than a title, and it made them lose appeal. I think people should get to take a picture and other more detail readily visible. Maybe even a video editor so people could make little films out of their contact or show how high scores are gotten.
- A level editor and item A.I placement or pathing would be great but probably tricky.
- What another said, no amateur mistakes, they should only be made by the player, it's so frustrating for the game to go on the rails half the game as you get to a target finally and 47 messes it up, or a cutscene kill for your hard work rather than you doing the kill.
- When talking a hostage amount of options that were in BM, like able to reload at the cost of being exposed shortly, able to knock out or shoot the target in the head.

The large levels, sandbox, no checkpoints, no magic pockets and emphasis back to targets around the world is wonderful news though, thank you IO.

Yeah that sounds good aswell, i meant just a bit more life in him, but more emotional targets and NPC would be very good, add a sense of morality when killing them.

I've loved every single Hitman game, but Absolution kind of went off the rails a bit for me. They closed off the levels, upping the difficulties meant upping the number of guards (which cut off a lot of exploration and creativity), and Instinct made it very unenjoyable for me, and a lot of fans of the original games. Please get rid of Instinct, IO. Please?

Ill add my two cents

-i would like to see great atmospheric main menu as in previous Hitman games
Hitman: Contracts (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiBduvu_C3s)

- I don't want to experience Trespassing/SPOTTED -1500 again, that was instarage-restart moment in Absolution, no clue where I can go and in a second -1500, that was one of the major flaw

- no more pointy arrows and SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHIEEEET sound when someone sees 47 please, it was most annoying thing in H:A.

- no more "incomplete" disguises as in H:A, it looked stupid, and it was stupid. Reason why you did it like that was GOOD, but execution was BAD, it looked awful when you took masked gang member and 47 didnt put mask on..

- no more AMATEURISM as in H:A, like he wanted to strangle 2meter high mexican? Really? Then he fell into a trap again? C'mon he was able to survive through Church full of Assassins, Hunter and Hunted mission (from contracts), even his Funeral with 15 guards, and now he does 3 mistakes during one "personal contract"... He was lonewolf assassins everywhere, he relied only on himself and never did a single mistake...

- don't even think about something like Fight vs Sanchez. It was terrible. QTE festival, stupid dialogue, awful fight animations

- do not make us rely on cover, I mean, I DID appreciate cover mechanics over lean left/right from H2, and it suited 47 well. It looked awful when I was standing behind a wall to see where my target is heading in previous Hitman games.

I can't think of anything else right now, but rest was pretty good. Missions with targets were fun as always so should be OK in hitman 6 with minor tweaks.

...but I still love you IO, and I believe in you, Good luck.

P.S.: Can't wait for more intel :D

It was weird using the 4 buttons to kill someone also when it pops up like a sore thumb telling you to open a door.

This.

Hitman is far too mature for Simon-Says-style gaming. Anyone who designs for the next game should actually have played the previous games enough to understand that dictated, linear, and overscripted levels provide the weakest Hitman experience.

I think a neat new feature would be soiled costumes. You shoot a guy in the chest or cut his throat, expect there to be lots of blood staining at least his shirt. Push off a ledge or beat them over the head and there will still be some blood. Dirty uniforms would still be useful at a distance, but for a convincing close-up disguise the fiber wire has to be utilized to keep things clean.

Oh and I almost forgot

-evidence in H:A was terrible, why was I punished even before starting the mission to take evidence when I did not screw up previously? Idea is good, you let witness alive in previous missions, and it has consequences, you have to get rid of the evidence or you can built up notoriety meter until the moment they recognize you even in disguises.

- make Silenced weapon kill availible for SA rank like in H:A.

Hopefully, I'm not the only one here who feels the same way. I think for the next Hitman they should strike a balance between the exotic levels in Blood Money and the more dark and sinister world of Contracts. After playing The Meat King Party in Contracts, I was thinking how SICK the game was, especially after I found the girl, then I was upset when the game took a sharp turn into being very dark and gloomy. It was always raining and every level felt like the one before. Then I played Blood Money. I enjoyed the different exotic locations, from going to a drug lords mansion in South America to the Playboy mansion to a casino in Las Vegas. But I did miss that feeling I got when I played The Meat King Party. The gimps with the gas masks, the deranged butchers, the dead animals and blood all over the place. I/O needs to add levels like this again. Dark and seedy and that show another side of that world.

And as a french player, I want Philippe Dumond to come back and be again the voice of 47.
He was the french epic voice of 47 in the four first games, I don't understand why they change it for Absolution.
We want Philippe Dumond please :)

Thank you for doing a new game in the series.

I don't no where to start but I have many ideas.

First of all I hate the a to b thing, where the game goes in to arcade stage, and you get points for killing people in this ore that way.

Get rid of it and bring back the old system:
- Silent Assassin<> Psyco killer rating
( I now this was for the purpose of relate yourself to other gamers, but for me I don care. I hated it, as your ratings would be rubbish if you didn't kill in an certain way. )

Ideas:
- The old sandbox levels was the best, in that I mean how the levels where build up in Blood Money. It was great. You used your lap top to buy the suitcase and silencers for your guns, just to point it out.

- Levels should focus on corrupt politicians, who want their rivals out of the way. Like the JFK conspiracy.

- A client who wants her husband out of the way because he is a grunge rock musician who is talking about suicide all the time, with him dead she would gain lots of money. I'm thinking of the Cobain Conspiracy

- The dead of legend. A sports legend. I think about the Senna crash in Formula 1. It could be something about a client from the big motorsport organisation who cant proceed with his idea to make racing safety, and needs to make a point by getting rid of the legend.

- Money scam in the EU. The client wants to take out the leader to gain money.

These subjects are off course a sore spot to get your head into, and the levels should be written as inspiration out of these horrible events.

Why not study Jessie Ventura's 60 things the government doesn't want you to know, as inspiration for levels.

Then their is drug lords, gambler sharks, betting company's, and here I thing about match fixing in the eastern part of the world.

The Russian levels where exciting. A level in Warsaw would be great, and why not Copenhagen. Amsterdam, Vegas, Prague.

Put this in to a bowl of soup and cook it into a great game.

My last issue is that I would see more focus on gameplay and the levels instead of how great the game should look. Great graphics don't all ways equals great game. Here I think about Mind Craft and Football Manager, in fact Hitman Silent Assasin 2.

Happy coding :)

Call me morbid, but it would be hilarious to see Blood Money's body bag system brought back. First time I saw a cop dragging one I fell out of my chair with laughter because it did it with humor.

"UGH I NEVER THOUGHT I'D HAVE TO DO THIS!"

Absolution was really good in it's own right, but as part of the Hitman franchise it wasn't exceptional. Some of Instinct has to go. I liked a lot of the functions with Instinct, like the Point Shooting, seeing through walls, slowing down time, stuff like that. However, the whole "you need Instinct to get past the guards" thing's sucky. On any difficulty above "Normal", you start playing it like Splinter Cell because you don't have enough Instinct to play it like Hitman. Also, Instinct shouldn't replace the radar.

I liked how in the murder of crows level they had it so that the one guy with the sniper rifle was in a different building each time you played it.it would be kinda cool if they had some lives like that in hitman 6 and it would be nice if they had some levels were you can snipe the target like in blood money and it would be cool if you could yank the gun out of there hand like in blood money any was dose any one else agree with me that all I can think of for right now

I will keep this simple:

Bring back 47's slightly tilted-to-the-left head!!!

Also David Bateson --- please don't go the Ubisoft route and drop your voice actor for the last decade.

One more thing:

A minimal HUD. No arcade point system or nada. You want to know how you did on the mission? READ THE NEWSPAPER!

The cold/less responsive personality was in older games but not when talking to desk staff etc, then he was polite or wore a mask.
But he's more a anti hero, he murders people, yet his targets were always bad people which made it more satisfying. I.e paedophile trafficking people at the Opera house, gangster drug guy and negligent theme park owner in tutorial level, other killers etc so he was never really bad. It's great seeing humanity shine through, but only a little, it's great if mostly he remains a cool cold guy, not scared or deterred by anything.

See thats were we'er different. I don't find killing generic bad guy every mission satisfying. It actually make the game seem shallow and uninteresting. Also in Bloodmoney 47 does kill innocent people and then He tells Diane that "He can kill anyone". Meaning when He kills 'bad' people its only incidental to his job. Diane is a idealist who cares about the president of the usa 47 thinking was more nihilistic.

Morally 47 is lower than most of the people He kills so if He was killing people He felt deserved to die, that would just make him a hypocrite.

I've been a big fan of the series since Codename 47. Silent Assassin & Contracts being my favourites. Absolution wasn't horrible but most of the levels were. The magic pockets thing was a particular annoyance just seemed like laziness to me. So attention to detail is required this time I think (Easy for me to say)

The graphics, fighting ability, and being able to use any item as a weapon were good additions that should stay for number 6

Here's a few ideas for the new one

Disguise system overhaul

This obviously needs work as Absolution's version is very poor and arcady. This is a murder simulation after all. The originals had the right idea.
So as 47 is a master of blending in he should be able to purchase or unlock user custom built characters: makeup, bodysuits, false teeth, wigs, beards etc in the loadout/briefing menu.
This would be a more realistic and immersive experience. And think of the monstrosities the community would come up with and share? This should be in Contracts & the main game.

Clothing
Clothes can be found throughout the game but it would be nice to buy tailor made suits
I think Hitman should be able to purchase the rain coat he had in the movie this would be a great way to smuggle his SPAS 12, M4, Katana, or fire Axe or the easy way to get those pesky 2 handed weapons to the hideout. I was always suprised they never put this in. Every Gangster/Hitman wears one in the movies...

Return of the sniper case and a custom weapons case which can house your pistols assault rifle, bombs, knives etc for Airport/White house type top security levels. This could be acquired later in the game or on easy mode?

Custom Crafted weapons
Why stop at silver ballers & Sniper rifle? Custom shotgun with laser sight & silencer for example like Blood Money.

Small Animations
Such as screwing a silencer on the weapon, hiding the weapon in hand behind your back a la Blood Money no teleporting guns to hand and door opening animations.

No QTE but 47 should retain his unarmed combat skills maybe some deadlier martial arts this time locks, holds, bone breaking & nerve strikes.

Planning
This may or may not work but 47 could stakeout an area maybe a day/night before the hit to lay traps or sabotage CCTV. Obviously this wouldn't be every time just the bigger jobs think GTA heist planning. This would just be a break in the action for a change of pace.

Return of the newspapers & or on social media I'm sure 47 has fb

Europe, Asia, Caribbean, Central & South America need some love. I like America but we need to see 47 somewhere else. He is technically Romanian after all isn't he?
Love to see him taking on the maffia in Italy again (maybe pay a visit to father Vittorio?)
Someplace interesting & exotic like Rome, Venice, Marseille, Monaco, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Kingston, Rio, Shanghai, Hokkaido etc

As for hits
A dark satanic cult some where in an eastern european castle
Airport/Airplane hit
Orient Express type train hit like From Russia With Love- James Bond
Italian restaurant hit a la Godfather
The Heavy Metal gig hit, the blood sucking record agent has to die (with a ugly and dirty soundtrack playing of course) \m/\m/
Shogun Showdown II I miss the ninja someone needs to reintroduce them to a video game (they were everywhere in the 90's)

And last but not least it would be great if they could bring back Jesper Kyd his soundtracks were iconic and set the mood.
Vivienne McKee (original Diana) needs to return.
And of course you've already signed Mr. Bateson up haven't you or the deals off ;)

Good luck IO I will no doubt buy it regardless ;)
