Hello there!

Guys, I was wondering if the character type featured all over Meridian in BO2 is actually a font and can be downloaded from somewhere, if you don't remember which font I am talking about please check these pics:

http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120301163811/legacyofkain/images/9/96/BO2-Texture-Southgate.png http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120301163810/legacyofkain/images/2/20/BO2-Texture-SewerAccess.png http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120301163642/legacyofkain/images/1/1d/BO2-Texture-DucketsTraders.png http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120301163727/legacyofkain/images/8/80/BO2-Texture-GroelerAndSonsCo.png http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120301163640/legacyofkain/images/a/ad/BO2-Texture-Apothecary.png

The fonts looks a little bit "Russian" stylized to me, mainly for the use of upper and lower case in the same word and reflected chacracters...

If the font does not exist... well I started creating one, once I finished I will upload it somehwere to be downloadable as a TTF :)

here goes a screenshot:

Check it and let me know your thoughts :D

Awesome project :thumb:

I don't think that anyone else has attempted to recreate this font, but you never know. Regardless, looking good so far and I know it's going to be greatly appreciated for many different efforts to have :)

Looks tedious, but it is pretty sweet!

With unused letters, I assume you'll be creating a new character from scratch. Or will you be doing only the alphabet that appears in game?

I think you should create any missing ones. Add your own interpretation to what is already there.

I'm really excited to see the finished work!

Yes indeed I will create missing characters from scratch (already created the "Q" glyph) - but not entirely, there's approximately 280 characters in a complete font set and people rarely use unknown characters but the Meridian font will have all 29 alphabet characters although it wont have upper and lower case and I plan to include some special characters such as "&". :D

Edit:
Hi again!

A little update: Alphabet complete, still some minor issues with the font spacing but it seems to be displaying properly, next I will create some fitting numbers for the typo... some widths have to be fixed but it's looking good so far...

here's a screenshot:

I hope you like it! :D

Let me know what you think :)

Oh, wow, incredible work Ber. I wish I'd seen this thread earlier, because I think there are some other BO2 textures I could've given you for this project which aren't up at the wiki yet. Can still try and get them to you if you wish.

And yes please Corlagon, I am still modifying the fonts so any help would be appreciated a lot!!! just upload the textures somewhere and link me to it when you have time.

Thanks again mate!

Sure, here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/ikq0z4) you go. I think there's some in there which aren't even used in the game itself.

From far away it looks like a foreign language, which is fun, but then if you look closely it only takes a second to learn to read it, which is fun, and it also may be a clue that the people of Nosgoth are terrible at spelling and they sort of make up some of the writing as they go. Which is believable, if you look at the conditions in Meridian. That place isn't going to have the best education system. The hylden conquerors may have had an impact on the language too.

Wow those are interesting - and some of those are road/district names, aren't they?
I Think I recognise the pictures accompanying them as from various circular information pillars, but I don't recall seeing street names on them, so I'm guessing the names may have been covered as the texture was wrapped, as it were.
Nice work btw Ber:D

Thank you very much guys!!!

And Corlagon... those are amazing textures as Baziel already said, I fetched a couple of characters I was missing from them, I keep working on this, hopefully we should have a complete version soon!

Cheers! :D

EDIT:

Update - Spacing between characters is getting sorted out... I still have to create number glyphs and some punctuations symbols (not all of them but we will have commas, dots and the other basic ones including !?), after that I will start to test it around :).

Here goes a screenshot:

I know some characters look thinner than others and I'm working on that (excepting the glyphs for Q and C which lines will be slightly thinner due to the symbol's characteristics)... if you notice anything else or have any feedback just let me know :)

Gotta say that's looking good. I can't put my finger on what's changed from the earlier example, but it looks better, more polished.:D

Just to confirm Corlagon's suspicions, I've looked around and whilst most of the 'parts' of the textures appear in-game (mostly 'broken up' from the textures there), I can find absolutely no hint of the four sign names (Cathedral Hill, Miridian Way, Southgate Road and Westgate Road) in-game, even though I'm sure I've identified at least where Southgate and Cath hill are, and can find all the 'associated' posters.

Considering I went through BO2 not so long ago, it's slightly irritating - mind you, I did say there was plenty of room for expansion under locations (and minor characters);)

Hi there!!!

Many thanks for the feedback to all of you :D!!! I'm glad to know you like the progress!

Alright, I have a small update for the font, I would dare to say that it is 70% complete and I will soon release a test file so you can download it and test it.

I wanted to show you a screenshot of all the characters I recreated, if you see that I'm missing one please let me know!

Hello everyone!

Thanks a lot for all the feedback!

Well, I am pleased to present the first official release of the font, please download it from the following link:

Also, you can check how it looks in these simple designs I made using it :)

I hope you like it, I tried to fix the spacing between chars modifying the metrics and kerning of the font, which proved to be quite challenging as it required to fix unusual character distances like "AV" if you know what I mean hehe.

The lower case of the font is almost entirely created by me, except for the "o" which I found somewhere in the textures you sent me (Thanks guys! :D), I would say the font is meant to be used in upper case to obtain better results.

I hope you like them and let me know if you would like to see something else in the font and I can see what can be done.

The font is actually being reviewed by Dafont.com and should be available there as soon as the approve it :).

Regards!

Ber.
