View Full Version : Derelict Row Gangers (Possible Spoilers!)

Well, I finally broke down and bought DXHR after months of teeth gnashing, hair pulling and soul searching, and I must say that I was both pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised at the changes Eidos Montreal made to the franchises overall direction.

I'm at Hengsha now, but I have a question about the derelict Row Gangsters in Detroit: When I was doing the Cloak and Dagger sidequest I went full stealth, and didn't let any of them see me; but as I was going to meet Malik's helicopter to go to Highland Park (The place where you fight Barrett), I killed them all without thinking. :nut:

Anyway... my question is this; will that have any negative consequences later on in the game? And should I have stealthed my way to the chopper?

You will lose the pacifist achievement.

Your ending will change from "I always did the right thing" to "I tried to do the right thing".

Dammit! :mad2: Well, I guess I'll be starting my game over, then.

It's just an achievement who cares.

I don't care about the achievement; but I was going for one of the "good" endings, and now I'll have to start again to get it.

This. And one change in dialogue is really not much IMO. Carry on the game and on your second playthrough try to get pacifist.

I know this is going to sound a little strange, but there really wasn't a "good" ending.
And I mean that in more ways than one.

Also later in the game -- there will be a very intense moment where you'll have to choose between being a pasifict and (likely) letting someone important die, or being a commando and saving someone's life... morally ambiguous to be sure. And the split second, real-time choice is one you'll probably wind up making on instinct. Some have managed to complete the scenario by being both the hero and using non-lethal means, but it is near-impossible on harder difficulties.

Deus Ex 1 was the same, none of the endings were ideal solutions and however hard you try to play pacifist, at some point you're going to have to redirect a missile aimed at Vandenberg towards Nellis AFB. I got the impression I was being taught life lessons, that there's never a perfect solution.
