In this thread, we'll take a huge load of your questions from the Official Questions Thread (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=117721), combine them with the questions we hear the most often and give you the answers. We'll do our best to do a large update at least once a month and we've put everything in spoiler tags to keep the thread clean and easy to read. For that same reason, we've also shut this thread down for comments.
What's more, if you ask a question that an IO developer has answered in a press interview, we'll give you that answer too - it's all part of the service!

Hitman: Absolution FAQ

Hitman: Absolution will release on 20 November 2012 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 http://driber.net/os/forum/countdown_ha_release.html

There will not be a demo before Absolution launches on November 20

You can try the official Hitman pages on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/hitman), Twitter (twitter.com/hitman), YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/hitman) or Tumblr (http://hitmanabsolution.tumblr.com/). The new Hitman-dedicated community site, The Barcode Society (http://www.barcode-society.com/), will also feature behind-the-scenes articles and articles about the game

Yes. Silent Assassin will be available on all difficulty levels

Agent 47 works alone. However, Absolution will feature asynchronous multiplayer in 'Contracts' mode. Read more at the Barcode Society (http://www.barcode-society.com/weblog/IntroducingContracts) or watch the 'Introducing Contracts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTP0Fu8gHXg)' trailer.

Announced at Gamescom 2012, Contracts will allow you to create your own custom hits within Absolution. You choose the level, the starting weapons, disguise and must 'play to create', meaning that every contract that you create has also been completed by you. You can mark up to three targets and then must take them out using any weapon that you have unlocked. The way that you play will also determine the rules for that contract - whether you kill civilians, remain unspotted, change disguise and many other factors will be set as the rules for other Hitman players that attempt your contract. If you can keep to those rules and escape from the level in a faster time than the contract creator, you will earn a higher pay-off. All money that you earn in Contracts mode can be spent on weapons and upgrades.

YES! The "Professional Edition" of the game has been announced and will be available on the same date as the regular edition on all three launch platforms (PC, PS3, Xbox 360). Find out what's included on the announcement page (http://barcode-society.com/weblog/professional-edition-revealed)

Purist Mode is the ultimate test in Hitman: Absolution. Available from the get-go if you want to challenge your skills to the extreme, Purist Mode will punish you repeatedly. You will get very little help from the game with regards to the HUD. No mini-map, no weapon information and you'll even need to count the amount of bullets in your gun to reload at the right times.

Instinct is an in-game economy that is earned by performing certain Hitman-like actions. You can then use your instinct in a variety of ways; make better use of your disguise to blend in, highlight enemy locations and their predicted path in the environment, highlight potentially useful items or activate the point shooting mechanic. The amount of instinct that you earn and can use will scale by difficulty level so you need to only use it when necessary on higher difficulties.

You are never forced to use Instinct but if you want to completely turn it off, there will be options for this in the game's menu.

Point shooting is a well-known, broadly taught technique among special forces and military units. Some people call it instinct shooting or ‘threat focused shooting’ and it is based on the basic idea that you often will not have time to look down your sights while firing. Find out more in our Point Shooting Barcode Society article (http://www.barcode-society.com/weblog/point-shooting)

Newspapers are not set to return in Absolution. We're looking at better ways to show your rating and skills.

There are a load of new weapons, some unique to specific levels. In fact, there are some very rare weapons to find and use

We're getting closer to an actual estimate. It's difficult to test internally because QA testers or level designers know the levels inside out. Replay value is a high priority so you can bank on that and if you're a completionist, the in-game challenges will certainly keep you busy.

In addition to the platform specific trophies/achievements, there will also be over 300 in-game challenges to test even the best Hitman players. You can see an example of this in the RFYL playthrough video (http://youtu.be/n8909F4GI7Y?t=13m41s) that shows "bong hits" when Agent 47 takes out the police officer with a bong

Absolution was announced for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and those are the platforms we are continuing to develop for and focus all our attention on. We don't expect to have any further announcements on platform availability but we will share if we do.

This was because the code was a very early build and the animations were not final. This has now been fixed and 47 is no longer a magician. EDIT: To clarify, this answer was specifically referencing when 47 picks up items such as the bust or police baton and there was no 'pick-up' animation.

There are no plans whatsoever for that

We expect so and would be surprised otherwise.

UPDATED ON 5/3/2012

The most updated place will be the Barcode Society 'Vault (http://www.barcode-society.com/thevault)' section. It's got all the latest images and videos for Hitman: Absolution as well as from the four previous games

If we do decide to include any collectibles, they'll make sense in the game world and have a purpose. There are no plans to have hidden items lying around just for the sake of having you run around finding them

We've got more than just any regular pre-order bonus. Hitman: Sniper Challenge is a brand new contract for fans to take on as Agent 47. It offers content unlocks for Absolution and also online leaderboards for you to compete on. All you need to do is pre-order from a participating retailer and you'll get a download code from May 15th for PS3 & Xbox 360. The PC version will be available from August 1st

There's no 'satellite' map like in Blood Money. Instead, you will have access to a dynamic mini-map and Instinct to better identify your surroundings

Yes. PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will all be released on the same date.

There is a dedicated team working on optimising the PC version of the game that has come directly from the Glacier 2 engine i.e it's not a port from the console versions. As it stands right now, we're still working on getting the finalised 'required' and 'recommended' lists to a point that we are happy to lock them and share them. Specific details will all be released at once and we'll make sure that the info can be easily found. UPDATE: We have got some very special features to announce after E3 for our PC users.

Both the Run For Your Life and Orphanage checkpoints that we have presented so far were taken from the game when it was at a pre-alpha state. The game code that we are taking to E3 will be pre-beta.

UPDATED ON 13/4/2012

If "sandbox" is defined as having an area that you can freely roam, the ability to take different routes to reach your goal and different options for achieving that goal, then the short answer is: Yes.

Birdie: Steven Bauer
Blake Dexter: Keith Carradine
Sheriff Clive Skurky: Jon Gries
Layla Stockton: Traci Lords

Yes. As well as classics such as Silent Assassin, Professional etc, there will be ratings that have very specific criteria to earn!

UPDATED ON 15/6/2012

Yes. The game will feature full PS3 trophy and 360 achievement support. Any specifics will not be revealed until a later date meaning you’ll have to wait and see what we have in store.

No. Absolution will only feature the third person perspective.

Of course! Hopefully you’ve got a better idea of this from the recent King of Chinatown articles that have been published around E3. Check them out at Barcode Society (http://www.barcode-society.com/weblog/KoCT-previews).
If you don't want to click through, here's a peak at the CVG (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/349919/previews/hitman-absolution-hands-on-with-the-nun-free-e3-demo/) preview:
From Agent 47's opportune costume changes, to the large and complex levels he can freely stalk, to his deadly talent at murdering bad men in the most inventive way possible - everything you love about Hitman is back.

Yes. The Professional Edition will release on all three launch platforms. As an example, Amazon.co.uk (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hitman-Absolution-Professional-Edition-DVD/dp/B007TGHM54/ref=pd_sim_vg_h__6) list all the versions available.

It should do. It definitely works with a ’wired’ Xbox 360 controller. A final answer will be added here when available.

Weapon customisation has seen a lot of attention for Absolution. You’ll be able to clearly see all upgrades, the level that you have reached for each upgrade and the remaining upgrades that you can unlock. You can get an idea of how upgrades will work through the Sniper Challenge but expect a much more fleshed out system that covers a range of guns and many more possibilities.

The hand-to-hand combat has been greatly improved in Absolution. 47 has a much better variety of takedowns and the ‘threat level’ of the NPCs is also a consideration for how they are dealt with. When you consider that you can also silently takedown enemies by subduing (http://www.hitmanseries.ru/games/hitman5/screens/05.jpg), using pistols (http://www.hitmanseries.ru/games/hitman5/screens/08.jpg) or improvised weapons (http://www.hitmanseries.ru/games/hitman5/screens/09.jpg) it shows the real amount of options you have for just taking down one NPC. There are also options for taking down enemies when you are in cover but we haven't publicly shown that yet.

No. Similarly to previous games, 47 may use vehicles in cutscenes but not during gameplay.

You can choose. 47 will have the option to use his Silverballer as single or dual wield.

Absolution is set in the same universe as the four previous games but doesn't directly follow up from Blood Money. The chronological order is Blood Money, Damnation (Novel), Absolution. A lot of information regarding what has been happening since Blood Money will be found in the ICA Files and the canon is maintained as strictly as we can - That should be pretty clear from the Diana ICA File. The key information in there remains truthful to the previous games.

Yes. There are options to disable various parts of Instinct if you don't want them activated. For example; depending if difficulty level allows it, you can have all Instinct features activated but the 'predicted paths' can be disabled.

UPDATED ON 20/8/2012

There are a few different colours for instinct mode. In the gameplay demos released so far, we have shown non-target characters in orange (such as the Police in the Chicago Library) , targets in red (such as the King of Chinatown) and the special example of Lenny from the Streets of Hope video playthrough in blue because he needs to be kidnapped - not killed.

Yes. Absolution's Game Director, Tore Blystad describes how in a Barcode Society interview: “During the tagging phase the player has full control with the game. During the execution phase there’s both the option of an automated cinematic experience, a player controlled cinematic experience or a swift gameplay minded in-game experience. So as with most aspects of Absolution the player is the one making the choices.” Read the full interview (http://www.barcode-society.com/weblog/point-shooting) for more info.

Yes. Purist mode has now been set to be available from the start.

Yes. Look out for more videos from the 'ICA Files' series as well as the 'Introducing' series. We'll also have some cool videos that are outside of these two series.

We want to keep the plotlines under wraps but we have previously mentioned that 47 will embark on a much more personal journey than before. His character will be further explored in Absolution.

We can see that this is one of the most prominent questions in the questions thread. We will get these to you as soon as we have them locked down. In the meantime, an article from Polygon (http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/8/14/3241595/io-interactive-hitman-absolution-on-pc-wont-be-just-a-port-will) was published during Gamescom 2012 that details some of the features in the PC version.

UPDATED ON NOVEMBER 5 2012

Yes. You can manually choose the audio language and subtitles language. The options that you have will depend on which languages are included on the disc that you have. All regions will have the option of hearing the original, English audio. This may require an additional, FREE download.

The PC version of the game is digital download only in North America. You can purchase the Professional Edition of the game from various digital outlets and you will receive digital versions of the artbook and making of DVD. The Deluxe Professional Edition is only available in Europe.

As one of the most frequently asked questions, it's worth repeating that there are many customisation options surrounding Instinct. You are able to manually toggle whether 'path prediction' or 'enemy locations' are highlighted individually. Furthermore, you can toggle Instinct hints. Tutorial messages can also be turned off. In Purist mode, these functions will ALL be turned off permanently and ALL HUD elements will be removed.

There will not be a demo before Absolution launches on November 20

The "run" key is mapped to a button or key and can be used freely. When running, you will draw more attention to yourself and will make more noise.

No. Xbox Live Gold and Free members are both able to enjoy Contracts mode.

No, this won't feature in Absolution.

The essence of Point Shooting is that it enables you to react as quickly as 47 can. Once activated, you manually aim your shots using mouse or analog stick and the locations for the shots that you aim will lock to the bodypart or environment location that you marked. For example, if you mark an explosive environmental prop, then mark a headshot and activate the execution; the shot will still be a headshot even if the explosion has blown the target across the room.

Yes, each mission you have completed can be replayed at any time from the main menu. Missions can also be replayed in Contracts Mode.

There is not a separate challenge mode. Absolution features many challenges that can be unlocked as you play through the game as well as unlockable techniques, playstyles, weapon upgrades and achievements/trophies.

Hitman: Absolution, just like Hitman: Sniper Challenge, will not work on Windows XP.

Remember to add questions to the Official Questions Thread (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=117721) and then we'll answer them in this thread!
