Eh... yes. So?

They are not exactly a new phenomenon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsule_hotel).

The first pod/capsule hotel was opened in 1979, in Japan.

I'm surprised people actually rent those.

Alice Garden Pods are more like the ones used in Tokyo, if you fail to get home after a day of work you can rent one for the night, some people might live the for longer periods of time.

Cool, I didn't know they were based on real models.

Oh yeah, I just remembered that capsule pods were in the original Deus Ex too. Area 51.

They're kind of a minor cyberpunk staple.

From Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex opening:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't some of the scenes from the SAC opening from the GitS game? The CGI is so different from the hand-drawn stuff of the actual shows, I just thought they lifted bits of the game, maybe from cutscenes.

Haven't played any of the games, but it's very likely the same studio did the SAC opening and the game cutscenes.

The opening credits are done in pretty bad playstation style graphics which is a shame since the music and hand drawn animation is top notch.

Ps. I should also note that the CGI for the PS2 game was better then the one used for the show.

Agreed. Fell in love with Yoko Kanno and Origa less than 30 seconds after the start of the first time I heard the opening song, "Inner Universe." I've now got several anime OST's that both have been involved in (although Origa hasn't been quite as prolific as Kanno).

I wouldn't know. I never played the game, and only saw a couple short CGI clips from it - none of a quality that let me tell the difference.

I have to ask did Origa ever officially sing Moon outside of the live concert (turn a gundam ?) since I like her version much better then Gabriella Robin’s.

Dunno. That's (the YouTube video of the concert) the only time I've heard her sing it. I haven't checked to see if it shows up on any of her own albums.

Well I looked it up and that was the only time she sung it sadly but kanno added it to the Turn a gundam concert CD which I don’t have so YouTube quality will have to do.
