View Full Version : Concerned about the integrity of the upcoming "Evolved Razielim" skin.

While the other Evolved skins look awesome and true to the lore, I couldn't help but notice that there might be some integrity issues, concerning the Razielim and their evolved skin.

The biggest issue for me is that the regular Razielim skins look far more like evolved versions, where as, the evolved skin that'll be coming out sometime in the future looks more like it belongs to the past Razielim.

Why did they turn from hideous, chitinous flying things into pretty, human flying things, is basically what I'm asking.

And you might argue that the Razielim that are in the game, aren't an actual representation of the clan, due to them being in hiding underground, or whatever, but the point would still stand. Surely if that's the case, Evolved Razielim would look even MORE hideous and grotesque?

It doesn't make much sense to me.

To make a long story short, Razielim were devolved because they were blood starved (original skins), but when they started feeding on the battlefield, they started returning to their normal form (evolved skin). Similar thing was seen in Blood Omen 2. Also, Razielim were always considered the most beautiful of all clans, and since Raziel received the largest portion of Kain's gift it was said that they kept their "human" appearance the longest.

Yep, the clans evolve differently based on the portion of Kain's gift and you can see it in the evolved skins. And the razielim are blood starved yes.
- Razielim almost human - largest part of Kain's gift;
- Turelim almost human, except for the ears - second son;
- Dumahim - wierd ass head shape already - third son;
- Zephonim - probably will be much more similar to the Soul Reaver version than the other clans because they devolve faster;
- Melchiahim - even more so than the Zephonim.

Yup. The simplest way to think of it is that the hideous appearance of the Sentinels is due not to devolution but malnourishment. Essentially, their growth is stunted due to lack of blood; restoring their access to blood restores their health and makes them look "normal" again. They're still devolving in a macro sense at the same time, although more slowly than the others.

Vampiric pupation (i.e. "evolution" resulting from Kain's gift) and the devolution associated with hiding underground without blood are two separate things.

In the Razielim evolved model, vampiric pupation has progressed (giving them classic 3-pronged claws), but their devolution from starvation has partially reverted (making them more beautiful.)

It's said that because Raziel inherited the greatest portion of Kain's gift the Razielim would have originally retained their human-like features longer than other clans, despite vampiric pupation.

Answer: Read the lore.
