How to use the Sarif Industries Theme as your user log-on sound (Windows 7):

1. Download the pack
2. Open it with winrar
3. Extract it somewhere
4. Right-click on the speaker icon in the toolbar (next to the time)
5. Click on Sounds
6. In the windows that opens, navigate to Windows Logon and click it
7. Click on Browse and open the Deus Rice folder you just extracted
8. Click on the Deus Ex Human Revolution Sarif Industries theme.wav file
9. Click apply

----------------------------------------------------

FAQ:

1)Why is the song name of the media controller clipped off at the top?
-This is a problem with the .ini. (you will hear this a lot) Open the .ini for the controller and search for [MeterTitle2]. Change the Y value to -5.

2)Why is the font not working with rainmeter?
-Tricky one, that. It seems to be a different problem for each person, but placing Denton in front of the values Font= and Fontface= worked for me.

3)Rocketdock is painfully slow when I mouse over an icon.
-Go to the settings and turn off anything that even looks like an animation effect. Lower Icon quality may also help.

4)I want X Icon.
-There are extra icons added in the pack, as well as a photshop file with a template.

5)I can't find my weather code for the weather skin.
-Search for your location on weather.com. The url should then look like this: http://www.weather.com/weather/today/UKXX0085. If you were where I live, you would take UKXX0085
and place it where required in the .ini.

6)How do I remove the power and wifi sections of the system stats skin?
-Open the .ini and remove all text related to them.

----------------------------------------------------

Even after installing all that, there's still a lot of work to do. If you use the Denton font, you have to change a lot of settings in the .ini.

Too bad the music isnt playing at windows startup, just the same windows sound, i even checked to make sure if it was, and there it was, so i dont really know why it wouldnt work. I was planning to put the song from the trailer, you know the one called "marketplace ambient theme" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Osb5MkpMNOo from minute 2:47 to 2:57 (I love that voice) for the Log off or windows shuting down but it isn't working :(.

Thanks for posting this, it looks pretty incredible. I'm curious as to what skin is being used for the song name and pause/play buttons. I've looked around and can't seem to find it. I realise this wasn't created by you, but I'm assuming you took the screenshot yourself. Meaning that you must have that skin :)

Thanks in advance.

Oh ok. I will double check and report back my findings.

It's set to Winamp. But can also be set to KMPlayer. I personally use Foobar so it's useless to me as well.

Nevermind. Found a plugin for Foobar that emulates Winamp.

Hey, does anyone know how to get rid of the Background on the Network application in the Illustro theme?

I got rid of the IP Address and Network, also changed the colour to 225, 176, 84, but I can't find out how to get rid of the background.

Thanks.

EDIT: Coldenhas, this is what I did.

Extract all 3 Rars in the Rocket Dock crap folder, then place the content of "icons" and "Vincent Joya Icons - Deus Ex Addon Icon Pack" into C:\Program Files (x86)\RocketDock\Icons (That's mine, yours may be different).

With the "Samurize-Deus-Ex---Human-Revolution rocket dock theme" folder, place the folder (not the contents) into C:\Program Files (x86)\RocketDock\Skins (Again, that's mine).

Also, inside the "Samurize-Deus-Ex---Human-Revolution rocket dock theme", extract the "Samurize Deus Ex - Human Revolution Icons" Rar and place the icons inside C:\Program Files (x86)\RocketDock\Icons.

Then, if you want to change the picture of an Icon on Rocketdock, Right-click the Icon then click Icon Settings and choose the picture of it there.

Gaughranorama
9th Aug 2011, 19:23
I don't use itunes so can't be sure but if you right click on the volume control and go into 'edit skin' you'll see a line saying 'WinampExe=C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\Winamp.exe' under variables. change it to ItunesExe=whatever your path to itunes is and then find and replace all references to WinampExe to ItunesExe and it should work.

The PS3 is entirely customizable. A simple google search for PS3 themes shows this.

Here's one site with a couple http://www.psu.com/search?search_for=deus%20ex&view=themes

All you need is a USB stick to upload themes into the PS3.

1) The theme (specifically the yellow border) for Rocketdock is not multiscreen friendly. When I have the dock on my left monitor the top bar of the border shoots out about a third of the way across my right monitor. Is there anything I can do about this?

2) For those of you making icons, for the love of god most of us suck at photoshop. Please share your wonderful works!!!

If you'd like me to make a tutorial of how to make the icons I can do so. Might be somewhere from 10-15 steps though, but it's fairly easy. I'm not a master of photoshop/Gimp 2.0 or anything and i've got it figured out. Lemme know!

Sure, that'd be cool if you could, especially if you do it with Gimp since that's free and all.

For those of you who can't get the startup music working, that is because Microsoft, for some reason, saw fit to include the option to change your Logon sound in the interface but not actually make it do something. It requires screwing with a Windows ddl file...

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/34ba1710-aeb5-47e6-b371-d5e44febd39a/

Obviously, screwing with Windows system files is done with risk. Screwing up could potentially lead to bad things like crashes. Don't blame me if you mess it up!

Also, for people having issues with the font: In Windows 7, I had to reboot after installing the font before Rainmeter would recognize it. Then you just fill in all the fontname bits with Denton.

Delete the following line "ImageName=#SKINSPATH#\illustro\SHARED\Background3Line.png" from the ini under the "[meterBackground]" section, that would give you a transparent background.

this sucks because it looks ******** awesome, but I have to wait until I get a new laptop to really use it. My current one is a few years old, really slow, and for some reason I can't change the wallpaper. It's just straight up black. But when I do upgrade this is gonna be the first thing I do. As soon as I have any idea how to do it. A complete start to finish walkthrough on how to install and set up the different things would be very helpful.

I don't think the PS3 is customizable, unless you get it out the PlayStation Store.

Such is the nature of Consoles, I guess.

You can have your own themes with PS3 you don't need to go through the Playstation store.

You could probably make your own PS3 theme if you're into that kind of stuff. There are a few programs I've found which let you choose your own icons and backgrounds.

Which programs?

To PhoenixFiring, this is what I told someone else to do, Rainmeter is pretty straight forward so if you need help with that, just ask, but this is how to get the Rocketdrop looking Deus Ex'ish

"EDIT: Coldenhas, this is what I did.

Then, if you want to change the picture of an Icon on Rocketdock, Right-click the Icon then click Icon Settings and choose the picture of it there."

Figured it out, just delete the code in the .ini

I don't use itunes so can't be sure but if you right click on the volume control and go into 'edit skin' you'll see a line saying 'WinampExe=C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\Winamp.exe' under variables. change it to ItunesExe=whatever your path to itunes is and then find and replace all references to WinampExe to ItunesExe and it should work.

Doesn't work correctly, it allows you to control the volume, but doesn't show what is playing or anything else.
Would really appreciate some help with this.

Just so you guys know, I tried a couple of days ago to change the Logon Theme and it wouldn't change, even when I made a new Sound Scheme and made sure it was set to the Theme I wanted, but it wouldn't work, so I Google'd it, and it turns out Windows 7 doesn't allow it (maybe with the odd exception, Gaughranorama got it to work on Win7 x64) unless you edit a few files.

I really couldn't be bothered attempting it though, I seen the words "Dual boot" and I was like "F**k it".

EDIT: Joe Crow, this is how I got the Denton text.

First, install the Denton Text from the pack on the first page of the Thread

Then, in the .ini of, let's say, Systeminformation, change "FontName=" to "FontName=Denton"

That is what I done, and it worked, if you aren't sure where to put it (There are quite a few FontName=) then add Denton, save it, refresh the Application and see what changed, but, obviously, back up the .ini before you change anything, that's what I done.

Charadesmith: 165ko (kilo octet) is the size of the .wav file i tried.

Okay now, I succeed to play a 3,87 Mo (Mega octet.. Megabyte is the same) as the "log in session" sound.. Apparently, you can't use a wave file with a size that exceeds 4 Mo/Mb... :l

I have windows 7, x64, but my laptop had Vista as its operating system before... maybe that explains something...

theweirdguys
10th Aug 2011, 18:35
Joe Crow: To have the Denton font on those windows, you'll have to open their .ini files and look for "fontName=".

& You'll have to write it like this: "fontName=Denton"
As for the media player with the volume control, the media player doesn't show because you don't have "Winamp" or "KMPlayer". It only works when you have one of these programs currently playing.

One thing I haven't seen asked yet, and I haven't seen it in the ini's from what I've looked through.
Is it possible to have rocketdock be in the background while running programs?
I ask this because the background that is supplied in the pack stays in the foreground, and when doing things on the computer, it's rather impractical

Ok I'll give you guys some headers, since you seem to be having some problems. Also note that I am using windows 7 64 bit so this may not apply to everyone.

First, Ragequit, go into the rocketdock settings and in "Position" there should be "Layering", select in the box "Always on bottom".

Now about the logon/startup sound business. Remember that the log on sound and the startup sound are different things. I put the sarif industries theme as both the log on and startup sound, but you can do otherwise.
To put it as the log on sound, you actually have to make the sarif industries theme sound file smaller, I think some one already posted a link above me to one.
As for the startup sound, well it's quite complicated but don't get discouraged. I recommend this tutorial as it worked for me flawlessly.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/63398-startup-sound-change-windows-7-a.html
It's not as hard as it seems.

For the logon screen and boot screen I used simple editing programs. Google "windows 7 account screen editor" and "windows 7 boot updater".

If you screw up your computer it's not my fault! You know what you're getting into.

EDIT:nonprofitkilla if you are talking about what you should do with your desktop icons, you can either move them somewhere else like into the rocketdock or make all of them invisible. It's your choice but to make all of them invisible right click on your desktop, go into "View" and uncheck "Show desktop icons".

You do know that a 32bit (x86) program will work in a 64bit OS? Rocketdock even gives a choice between 32 or 64 bit when it installs.

yes I know but they said it's not support on x64 system.
http://rocketdock.com/download
"Please note that Windows XP x64 Edition, Windows Vista 64-bit Editions, Windows 7 64-bit Editions, and alternate shells are not yet supported."
Only rainmeter give you a choice between 32 or 64 bits version.

Anyway I use Objectdock instead, it's run better (no lag) than rocketdock.
Here a small modification of Denton Policy (support of accents, ç, ~ etc...)

It most certainly DOES work on XP. The audio controls in Rainmeter don't work fully since the audio plugin isn't written for XP (I can't change the volume). But otherwise it's pretty good. I'm one happy camper.

Now I just need an icon for Crapcleaner and I'll be all set.

This is a tutorial from a user at gamefaqs:

Please note that I will now describe how to use Rocketdock and Rainmeter.

This is not how to perfectly set up the Deus Ex theme, but it will tell you how to use the programs to do so.

Tutorial
------------
-Either download the package, or get RocketDock and Rainmeter yourself.

Step 1- Installation
---------
First, install both Rainmeter, and RocketDock. You can go ahead and run RainMeter, but I'd wait on RocketDock.

Step 2 - Configuring RainMeter
----------
When you run Rainmeter for the first time, you will see several "tools" pop up around the screen. Formally, these are called "skins". Downloading and applying your own skins is how RainMeter works. Inside the RainMeter program itself, they are called "configs".

- First off, let's remove these default skins. There are three major ways of doing this.

Process one (recommended)
---------------------------------------
-Open the start menu and search for: "rainbrowser". This is a utility used to easily add and manage skins.

-In the top left corner, you see the tabs: "Active", "Browse", and "Tags". Select "Active".

-You will see all the skins that are currently running listed below the tab. Individually select each one and perform your action.

-Refreshing will add any changes you've made. But we want "Unload Skin". This will remove the skin from the desktop.

Process two
------------------
-Using the hidden icons menu, (bottom right of taskbar on Windows 7) right-click RainMeter, and individually close each skin.

Process Three
--------------------
-Right click each skin on the desktop, to close them.

Memorize each of these three processes so you can go back and edit with the option you prefer.

Step 3 - Adding new skins
-----------------------------------------------
-Simply navigate to My Documents, and then to the folder called Rainmeter. Inside will be a folder called Skins.

-Take the folder containing your new skins, and place it in with the others. (Such as illustrio, etc.)
Step 4 - Using new skins
--------------------------------------------
Process one
-----------------
-Using Rainbrowser, select the tab, "Browse." Find where you stored the skin you would like to use, select it, and take the action, "Load Skin."

Process two
-----------------
-Right click Rainmeter under the hidden icons taskbar, move up to Configs, and find the skin you want.

Step 5 - Edit Skins
--------------------------------------
-Left click and hold to drag skins to the desired posistion.

-Right click the skin, (or use the hidden icon or RainBrowser.) you're looking for, "Edit Skin".

-This will open up a large test dump, called an .ini. Simply scroll through, and change the values according to your taste.

Rules of thumb
---------------------
x and y generally control relative position like a chart.

Change font by simply replacing the Font: or FontFace: value with the name of your desired font. You can also change font size in most instances.

Example
-------------
So I have installed the System Information skin within the package, and am now using it in Rainbrowser. How do I use the included font found in the Deus Ex package?

-First, install the 'Denton" font within the package. Once it's on your PC, you're golden.

-Now go to the text edit of the System Information.

-I can now see the heading, [Variables].

-I simply change Fontname and Fontname 2 to my desired font. Like this:

FontName=Denton
FontName2=Denton

-Now I save the text. And right click the skin, selecting, "Refresh Skin". This adds my changes. Unfortunately, it messed with some proportions. I should go back and edit the settings until it matches my desires. Here is mine:

[Variables]
FontColor=255,255,255,255
FontColor2=255, 255, 255, 75
FontName=Denton
FontName2=Denton
FontHeight=10
FontHeight2=32

RocketDock coming in next post. . .

KingNL
15th Aug 2011, 15:43
Using RocketDock
--------------------------

-First off, have RocketDock installed onto the PC.
-Now run RocketDock.
-A bar with some icons will pop up.

-You can add icons and programs via drag 'n drop.

-Use the 'Dock Settings..." icon to change options. I like mine to come in via the left hand side of the screen. I also like to enable auto hide, so it shows up on mouse over. I do the same to my windows taskbar.

-Find new themes and icons here: http://rocketdock.com/addons/skins/popular

-Alternatively, use the ones found in the package.

Where do I put the skins?

Go to 'Computer', then the C: Drive, then Program Files (x86), than RocketDock.

Place the icons in the Icon folder.

Than navigate to the skin folder. Make a new folder called, "Deus Ex". Put the backround, seperator, and images in here.

You can change you icons by right clicking them on the RocketBar Dock, and selecting a new one. You can change skins via RocketDock settings.

Enjoy.

There you go

I was annoyed by the same problem, the only solutions I found are either

Here is the left side (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/148/wip002.jpg/) of my desktop so far. I spent a few hours customizing the wallpaper and getting everything working how I want it on this side. Tomorrow I'll get to work on my second monitor (the right-hand screen) which will have the system info. My roommate is going to look into coding a rainmeter plugin for Pandora so I can get rid of the desktop app.

On a seperate note, anyone in the US able to get the weather thing to work? When I go to www.weather.com and check my local weather as the .ini for the plugin states, the end of the URL comes up as 00000:4:US where the 00000 is my zipcode. When I copy that into the .ini it doesn't do anything.

I had the same problem. Don't search by zip code. Instead, search using just city and state. That should give you the right code at the end of the url.

For example, I entered Fresno, CA.

My code is USCA0406:1:US, so in the ini it's "Location=USCA0406".

Hello folks,

I've created a short 1920x1080 ten second animated desktop loop in Photoshop, for those with the resources to use it (google 'windows dreamscene' for info). I've uploaded it to Mediafire below, thought you may enjoy it :)
I'm using Windows 7 x64 and have experienced no performance issues (thankfully Windows automatically pauses it when the focus is away from the desktop). A sample of the loop can be found here on YouTube (though note the rain is hard to see at lower resolutions):

FYI, Avast found a Trojan in the archive you uploaded, in the file: Rainmeter DXHR.rar.
It identified it as Bifrose-FAT [Trj]
When I sent the Trojan to the Virus chest, it reduced the size of your upload (DXHR_Theme[Jon].rar)from 24,891,391 bytes to 11,695,366 bytes, so, whatever it removed from the RAR file was pretty big.

Okay, I figured out how to get the Sarif Industries Theme to play, I just re-sampled it so it's under 4MB, here is a link if you want it:

http://www.mediafire.com/?bhkck0n4841dxbv
(It's actually 3.57MB, not 2.02MB, I compressed it)

To put it as your Logon, follow these instructions.

Start > Control Panel > Sound (Make sure your "View by:" is set to Small or Large icons) > Sounds tab > Scroll down till you see "Windows Logon" > Click it > Click "Browse..." > Navigate to Sarif Industries Theme > Click it and press "Open" > Click Apply then OK.

Like someone else in this thread, I don't like how slow RocketDock is, so I'm using ObjectDock instead. Here's what my desktop looks like.

Thanks for all the info and resources in this thread! I'd still have a boring normal desktop without it.

This is how mines looks so far. I had to make this wallpaper, cause I thought the one that they give you were too plain... tho they are still awesome.

I can now truly say I enjoy being on the Desktop.

That is an awesome background! Any chance you're willing to share it?

Maybe the installer of one or more of the 3 programs I included? I don't have an antivirus anymore and I have absolutely no problems with my Windows. Thanks for telling me that though. Can't you look into the .rar file and see what is still there?

Absolutely no problem, except that you're probably part of at least one botnet.

Bros, where can I get the background pic with the hex grid? It's not in the zip linked on p1.

Could you upload your wallpaper and .INI files? I'm having a nightmare with Rainmeter and RocketDock, and yours is exactly the design I'm looking for, if you are willing to share. D8

If it matters, my resolution is 1600 x 900.

Thanks man. ^_^;

Wow, these are great! I was hoping someone would make a rainmeter theme! Only thing missing IMHO is a wallpaper with an orange globe like Bob Page's giant screen. If someone makes one, you have my eternal gratitude!

Hey y'all. Although I have very little experience with Rainmeter I was able to create a music player configuration that works with iTunes! Took a while but it was worth it :) Here is the .ini file:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1QG6WBTD

Just be sure to insert your own filepath to iTunes.exe in your own config file.

Thanks for that man!

The ini works...but how do I add the pictures for volume control and such from the original Deus Rice pack? Also, I cant seem to move the volume control from the left side at all...

I don't know if you guys like this setup. I like it though so that is what matters. If anybody wants the configs just ask, although I use object dock instead, i think it is 100x better.

ObjectDock and RainMeter aren't particularly resource-intensive. Give them a try!

Here's mine. The cogs are spinning in the background (Dreamscene).

I was wondering though, how do you get the winamp sound mixer to show up with rainmeter? Is it to do with the .ini or is it a skin with winamp?

This is my current desktop (click to view full size). I tried to get rid of any "game" references and make it seem like it could be an actual computer from the game world. The UI is thus inspired by the in-game terminals. If anyone would want further information of what any of this comes from (I did some things myself, but got a lot made by others too), just ask. ;)

OS is Windows 7, using RocketDock and Rainmeter for the elements on the desktop.

For anyone wondering if this will work on their crappy old 32-bit Windows XP PC, yes it will. Here is what mine looks like.

http://images.mmorpg.com//images/galleries/full/082012/26e289dd-cd1b-4fa8-b9ad-ae1708b97451.jpg

I use Rocketdock with the skin and icon sets that are available in this thread.

I use Rainmeter with a couple of skins that I found pretty easily on www.customize.org and the Rainmeter homepage. A couple of the skins are the default one.

All I did was edit some of the colors in the ini files for the skins to match the amber.

I also hide desktop items, and put a button on Rocketdock to bring up an explorer window for the desktop so I could easily get to it. Also I have the Windows taskbar on autohide.

The memory usage is actually quite low all things considered.

I'm currently working on my version of this desktop but i ran into a little problem. I would like to have the rocketdock skin/program behind other programs when i use them. For example when i use Word i want the rocketdock to be on the background instead of in front of all other programs. Does anyone know how i can do that?

Hey guys!

I found this thread a week ago and I just wen't crazy looking for Rainmeter skins that fits my Sarif Industries desktop

I've used a few diffrent rainmeter skins such as;

Omnimo 4.0
Deus Rice Pack
Deus Ex Rip off pack
Animated GlaDos from Deviant Art
Broken Desktop

And I also used both Object Dock and Rocket Dock

And I can't give links for everything but if anyone wan'ts my wallpaper I can upload it to Imgur and you can just right click, save etc.

Enjoy!

Also FYI most of the text is in Danish

I messed around with the .ini file for the volume and media player and managed to get it to work with Windows Media Player :D
Heres the download if anyone needs it:

EDIT: Woops, I forgot to mention you may need to install this plugin for WMP to get it to work.

CJ? If you happen to read this message, do you mind providing those "infobars", preferably in that gold and blue color scheme?

I suck at Photoshop or Gimp or whatever it is that people use these days. If anyone could link me the .png files, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Well, I just had a go at it. I used, mostly, the default skins that come preloaded with Rainmeter and added a custom weather one. The wallpaper is one I found independently and thought it had a very Deus Ex feel and certainly has the right color scheme! I've been using objectdock/rocketdock (I've switched it up) for years now, so I already had that ready to go - but I changed my icons to the Deus Ex style thanks to the gentleman who provided the icons in an earlier post. I changed the default RSS feed to reflect wired.com.

Since I've been using object/rocketdock for ages, I just couldn't live with moving it to the side of the screen - the bottom is where it belongs! Overall, I'm pleased with my sexy new desktop.

My augmented desktop took some INTENSE time consuming part of my LIFE! But it look so Freaking AWESOME. Check this out.

http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/49/82946899.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/705/82946899.jpg/) Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)

I have provided a link below for the Rainmeter skins I have Modified to ensure that a desktop can look extremely close to the in-game look. Links given because I'm nice, and plus if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't of thought of augmenting my desktop.

The battery area is set to the SpeedFan temperature, and the In-game Sprint bit is for the SpeedFan Fan Speed. If you wish to change the temp to the actually computer battery life just change the skin.

In Volume & Fan Speed Remove [MeasureTemp] and add change the following for battery life instead of Fan Temperature:

[MeasureBattery]
Measure=Plugin
Plugin=Plugins\PowerPlugin.dll
PowerState=PERCENT
UpdateDivider=5

[TempBar]
MeasureName=MeasureTemp <<< In [TempBar] change this to MeasureName=Measurebattery
Meter=Bar
BarOrientation=horizontal
BarImage=Batterybar.png
flip=0
X=93
Y=83
DynamicVariables=1

Download LINK:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/zt8bqt

Includes:

Background
Any installations needed for FULL look
Denton Font
Icons I have made (Plus blank Photoshop icon used to make your own icons)

:cool:

NOTE: Winapp is needed for the MediaPlayer skin to work.

"Kinda hard to tell one lackey from another in here. You boys all look alike to me."

Just give me a Praxis Kit and i'll be on my way to get augmentations. :D
