My god! Bob Page is indeed a real person: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4fIxK5iwuQ but this time he's a leader of the Illuminati, hehe

Found anything else that feels kind of Deus Exy? Please do share!

Great intro... kind of gets too gloom and doomy after it. It would be more convincing if he kept a tone of righteousness throughout. Someone here said a really good bad guy is one who thinks he is right.

Doesn't really seem like your looking for the Blade Runner side of DX. So I'd recommend Eyes Wide Shut and maybe From Hell.

Yeah, these are pretty good, if you are looking for a conspiracy and/or occult related movies. But when I created this thread my aim was slightly different. I meant that if you ever came across some vid which awakens similar feelings as when you were exploring the world of Deus Ex, you are more than welcome to share it with us. It could be about conspiracies, occult, cyberpunk, transhumanism, techno-shamanism, easter bunny or violent anal sex. Whatever strikes you as 'Deus Exy'.

Also, for me, the setting and the actor playing in the video I posted above reminded me of DX opening sequence. You know, Page standing in the red background, briefing Simons, telling him about the master plan and so on. And the music sounded strangely familiar.

Occult Conspiracy? Hmm, "Rosemary's Baby" or "The Wicker Man", but that's not cyberpunk in the slightest.

Jonny Mnemonic is the closest storyline to DX1. There are the NSF (LowTechs), Dragon's tooth wire thing, cyberjackhack thing, and Keannu was rumoured to have been earmarked to play Denton in 2001, before 9/11.

I'm thinking of a television series: The Six Million Dollars Man, and the Bionic Woman. Also, there's a children cartoon about a family with bionic powers.

The Helios ending is basically the ending of the first GIST movie, at least I think so.

In both the main protagonist mergers their "soul" with an AI.

Plus both have sentient AI, and giant spider robots.

For me, the following reminds me of DX (the original):

- Perfect Dark N64 (very cyberpunky. also was released around the same time)
- Invader Zim tv series (the art style, not the subject matter. also was released around the same time)
- Ghost In The Shell film and tv series (pure cyberpunk)
- Equilibrium film (the look of film)
- Nine Inch Nails (I don't know why, their music just reminds me of DX)

Escape from New York.

Overlord securtiy/police force based on Liberty Island. Manhattan has gone to hell. Very Deus Ex.

Nice thread. It'd be cool if we maintained the first post with a bunch of videos that we all collectively agree have the "spirit," as noted in the title.

Besides some of the above mentioned, Metropolis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSExdX0tds4), Appleseed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZkag7M_i5A&feature=related), B side of King Crimson's "Three of a Perfect Pair" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h04CsdG8eWs), Caprica (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccHORot0vNA), William Gibson, Philip K Dick......

I'm told Equilibrium is a very Deus Ex-ish movie, though at the moment I'm still trying to get it and check it out. :hmm:

That's a lot of No.

Equilibrium is pretty Deus Ex-y, I'd say. It's been a while since I've seen it though. I remember Christian Bale, trench coats, gun kattas and dystopian futures.

Perfect Dark feels very DX to me... cyber-punk themes... global conspiracies... sexy characters... a lot of leather.

If you are going for a conspiracy vibe, I vote that nothing beats The X-files, namely seasons 1-5.

Cyber Punk is readily handled by Blade Runner, Altered Carbon and about 70% of the stuff that William Gibson has ever written.

Not really Deus Ex, but this Peruvian riot gear looks like something from the future.

Why go out of your way to design weak spots in the armor? Is looking cool that much more important than the armor actually doing its job?

The advertising for Perfect Dark ripped off Deus Ex completely, it was like reading the back of the packaging.

I think the philosophy behind that riot gear is about recruiting people into the Police and creating fear in the rioters' minds. The "chest" and "abdomen" are totally pointless, other than for effect. Looks good, but doubt it would even stop a .22 round.

"Escape from New York" reminds me a lot of Deus Ex in places.

Judge Dredd resonated with Deus Ex flair. Nanotech, clones. The Mega Cities in particular.

Concept of an apparent remake/reboot in the works:

The city looks imense.

Damn i love Judge Dredd. I'll never forget that scene where he blows up a flying Lamborghini just because the guy parked in the wrong area.

Wish i could just scream I AM THE LOL just like he does, and then blow up some random cars.

Gosh, its so awesome to be a cop in the future...
