She's holding a gun in ^ concept and it looks like there's another on her back, just above her right shoulder. But I honestly doubt she'll be dual wielding a couple of pistols (just because of the free aim which would be rather weird with two).

i'm afraid that if people like the new game that they will do away with the dual pistols all together. why can't they just stick with what works. to me this may be a good game but it is not Lara or Tomb raider

Her pistols in the movies were 2 HK (Heckler & Kock) 9m Expert with extended barrels. Nice looking gun but 9mm's dont pack a big enough puch for me personally. Lets remenber that these are just concepts that we are looking at. So dont read to much out of them. I am sure if your able to pick up/find 2 hand held weapons Lara will ba able to dual weild them!

With extended barrels its called the USP Match: http://images.google.com/images?q=Heckler%20%26%20Koch%20usp%20match&hl=nl&lr=&safe=off&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1344&bih=692

I'm not so sure about that but I certanly hope so... I mean there have been many people who wanted TR to change but not even the most progressive fans wanted the dual guns to go. There has been no great outcry for the second gun to be trown away, so why the heck would they do such a thing?

Or, throw in the option to use two pistols and unlimited ammo on a perhaps second play-through... thus leaving CD with the chance to play about with actual tension for once, providing they make use of it cause tension great in stories.;) I'll really be extremely disappointed with the game if they force unlimited ammo on me.

Saying that, I hope she doesn't just wake up with two pistols and instead make it more of a quest in itself if you catch me drift.:)

oh no you people reminded me of chuck e cheese(its a foul smelling kids restaurant in america) anyway theres this arcade game which im addicted to since it has two guns. it annoys me the way people hold the gun this way

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQgLmQl1zDw&feature=related

im like :( i can hold two guns and shoot mummies in the arcade game. but yeah it gets annoying to me if lara shoots a gun like that holding a gun with two hands at least with two guns you can easily just grab and shoot not grab position fingers then shoot.

In all fairness with practice you can draw a pistol into the two handed stance pretty damn quickly. Just look at SAS pistol drills for instance.

Plus i dear say that if she ends up hanging of a cliff shooting at bats at some point she'll just use the one hand.

I'll bet that good old Roth will have some dual pistols that Lara inherits towards the end of the game, probably when he dies. I can just imagine the epicness of that scene now :)

I'm sure Lara will come across more than one gun before then, so if it is possible to dual wield, that would be the time to do so, when there are still enemies to defeat, and you have two guns, and can dual wield.

Indeed, and that would fit prefectly in the idea that I have mentioned before: that the rookie Lara finds her iconic things (the boots, the backpack, the guns) one by one and eventually gloriously emerges as the Lara we know.

Here's hoping that Crystal D has the same vision...

yeah and roth dies on a cliff lara picks up his pistols and lara does this pose

with guns in both of her hands and lighting flash behind her and her hairs blowing in the wind(it looks dramatic in my mind)

IMO, things need to be subtle in this game, not so...Epic, campy, and in your face.

Lara is always much cooler when relaxed, can't we all agree?:)

IMO we should not see abrupt changes or scenes that scream "I'm a Tomb Raider!!1!" and instead see scenes that scream "OMG YAY ID DI NOT DIE NOW LET'S MOVE ON!!1!".

I'd like.

I9 think that her gun is just a normal pistol witch she normaly uses but the 1 on her back well it looks more like a pirate gun in my opinion.

Rehashing a familiar formula over and over is hardly a good idea. If we were to really apply your principle here, the game would still be using the lock-on system and limited platforming mechanics.

Any series that's been around as long as this one has needs to evolve and keep up with changing standards. You can say "it's not Tomb Raider", but keeping things exactly as a 14 year old game just gets it criticized for being outdated. Stagnation is death and attitudes of clinging to familiarity is detrimental to the growth of a series.

The guns themelves are just a superficial trappings, they shouldn't be what makes Lara Croft. What makes her what she is, is her strength of character, her fierce determination to discover the mysteries of the ancient world, no matter the tools she uses to achieve her goals.

Tomb Raider should be about questing for antiques, not actually becoming one itself.

adobeARTIST I agree.

A series must change as it must fix the faults it has and TR has always had faults that never seemed to be fixed which I think didn't help their 'milking' of the franchise. Thus one reason why the game finds itself in this position.

And yes, something like an object shouldn't define a character such as a weapon, any character can have one any of them can use one.

I agree with adobe and Ants. Stagnation indeed means death! Change is not a bad thing as long as the essence of the game and character remains. And if Lara only has one gun, she's still Lara!!! That's NOT what makes the character what she is!!! And honestly, if the game goes for manual targeting (as I hope it does!) dual guns can be tricky...

Although they could take a leaf out of wet's book if they're really that bothered about not having dual pistols. That whole idea of having one pistol auto lock onto one enemy while the player has the ability to manually aim the other.

Saying that it probably wouldn't have the same effect. But one things for sure (completely off subject) I hope they have filters in the game (optional) so that it looks like your watching an old style B film Sigh, I love that effect... example:

@adobeARTIST:

You always back your opinions up with good argumentation and that is excellent; far more important I think than just giving an opinion. But I still think she should have dual guns. I have always been a very progressive Tr-fan and I agree on all your comments on stagnation, but at the same time I think that certan things that lie at the core of what Lara Croft is should be preserved, and I consider the dual guns to be part of that. Even though they're 'tools' I consider them to be a part of her personality.
I think that to take them away would strip her of her most iconic thing; turning her into a rather bland action-adventure hero among many other bland action-adventure heroes. It's like the Daniel Craig-Bondmovies. Sure: everybody was tired of the old Martini/Aston Martin/women/Walther P99 formula and Casino Royale was a massive breath of fress air, but at the same time Bond was starting to look like any other Jason Bourne or Jason Statham or any other Jasons and other action hero's.
I think there is a very delicate balance between letting the series evolve and sticking to the core principles, and in my opinion dropping the second gun goes too far.

By the way: manual aiming with dual guns is not a problem if they just both shoot at the same target so you have just one pair of crosshairs, and I wouldn't want it in any other way.

If we do have dual pistols, obviously we will not be able to dual aim, it will seem awkward after having that feature in TRU, however I think they should come back, just as a weapon though, nothing primary or focal.

I heard it was a single pistol but really hope its duel pistols. Won't feel right to be without them for the whole game.

Unless your from Saginaw, than you get gang fights with your pizza and tokens.:)

It would be nice to find out how the dual pistols got the magic ability to never run out of ammo. It also opens the game up to having the uzis as main weapon of choice. Or maybe we're just getting what we asked for with the in your face physical combat choice.

And while your at it steal Batman's utility belt, Indy's whip, and the transporter's car because they REALLY don't need those things to define them as characters.

I have argued this many times in other forums but I will argue it again.

People will take Lara less seriously as a character if the game resorts to arcade/John Woo style combat. Watch the WET video linked above. Yes, it looks "Rock n' Roll" (don't know how else to put it) but do you now take the main character seriously? No. Is this good enough for a tier-one franchise? No. Will there be a WET 2? Likely not.

Watch the mess of a movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Brad Pitt looks like he knows what he is doing. Angelina Jolie does not. So a single sidearm, please!

The most ubiquitous (sp?) handgun in the world is the Browning P35 aka Browning Hi Power. In the past, it was even the issued sidearm to British SAS.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browning_Hi-Power

A single Browning Hi-Power should be Lara's default sidearm.

Phyical combat can often seem rather unrealistic and when Lara croft comes across monsters and thugs it's not her style. If I get the option of duel pistols I always choose it in any TR game even if stronger weapons are around. I would always be pushing to see the duel pistols in any TR game.
