I really want to play the PC version of FINAL FANTASY VII, but I don't want Steam. Any chance Square Enix will put it up for regular download on their online store?

I'm not sure what the deal is with that. I do remember that i was able to download the original game of Square Website. This was a little over a year ago. I also remember that it was a pain in the butt playing the game because you had to always be near internet to be able to launch the game from it's FF7 launcher.

Perhaps they were picked up by steam? I mean, the guys at Steam are the epicenter for computer Fan-based-games.

I can understand where you are coming from. I think I have to re-download my steam client and all of it's games. For some reason my graphics cards get tweaked or something from steam. It creates a blueish / purplish hue on the background of games. My ESO is not connected w/ Steam and it works just fine. This might because of my custom settings for gaming PC. I don't know
