Fraps sucks ***. But it's only app out there. It brings decent computers down to their knees. Inefficient programming. It's a shame there's no other competitors.

I was in your position about a week ago. I finally decided on WeGame (http://www.wegame.com/) and have been using it. You have to create an account at wegame.com in order to record, but it's completely free and the software is completely functional. Here's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2glkVldNVcs) a video I recorded and encoded using WeGame; the quality looks fine to me. I didn't have the proper driver when this was recorded, so there's no sound, but I've since gotten a different driver and sound works fine.

Thank bud its works good only how do I make a folder for the videos I'm making. I want to post them on You tube.

chipperMDW

The client records the video files in a default directory. You can configure this directory from the client under Settings > Videos. On WIndows 7, the default is C:\Users\{Account}\Documents\My WeGame Videos. It's probably the same on Vista. With XP, it's probably somewhere under C:\Documents and Settings\{Account}\My Documents.

Is that what you were asking?

The one that worked for me is whichever driver Windows 7 wanted to automatically install. The one that didn't work was, I believe, the one that was on the drivers CD that came with my motherboard.

After I installed the correct driver, I also had to enable the "Stereo Mix" device, which was initially disabled.

What version of Windows are you using, and what audio hardware do you have? My driver won't help you unless you're using the same type of hardware and operating system I am.

Batgirling

Im useing windows 7. how do I know which audio hardware I have?

chipperMDW
16th Oct 2010, 01:25
Click the Windows icon in the lower-left corner, right-click on "Computer," and select "Properties." From the windows that opens, click "Device Manager." Look in the device tree under "Sound, video, and game controllers." Your audio device will be in there somewhere.

Since you have Windows 7, though, try this: click the Windows icon in the lower-left corner and select "Control Panel." From there, double click on "Sound." (You may have to double-click a "Hardware and Sound" category before you see "Sound.")

In the "Sound" window, go to the "Recording" tab. You should see a list of devices. Right-click somewhere in the list (on any device or on the background) and check "Show Disabled Devices." See if that makes your Stereo Mix device appear. If so, just right click it and select "Enable."

There's also the possibility for some users that their sound card isn't even capable of recording the sounds it generates. I found out, much to my disbelief, that my sound card has no capability possible, having been able to do it withe every previous system I owned. After Googling the make and model of the card, when I couldn't get any audio to record, thinking it was a setting or driver issue, I found out it's hardware, and no driver or any software can get around it. I hope your card is full-duplex, not single, or you can't record sound without recording it separately to another device.

That's a shame. Is it an actual stand-alone card, or is it the device integrated into your motherboard? If you have a stand-alone card with that deficiency (!!!), I suppose you've probably already thought of this, but you might have better luck with the motherboard's onboard device; that's what I'm using on my system.

ok so I enabled the hidden audio thing. Thanks buddy. The actual problem was that the audio would play ahead of the video.
