Just saw the recent gameplay video, which is the E3 2010 build of the game, and I found out something interesting.
Dunno if anyone noticed that but 3:06 minutes into the first part we can see the following very clearly:

w0ot? Has anyone else noticed that already?

Yep someone (Dr. Bob - can't really remember who exactly) noticed the VersaLife logo back in the days of the leaked footage (which is now - officially the demo - just kidding :D). Personally I love the subtle connection with the first two games of the Deus Ex Series and hopefully there are many more hints and connections in DX:HR. :)

Yeah I saw it during the PAX gameplay, not sure who they are working with though.

According to the continuity bible VersaLife didn't come to power until the pandemics of the 2030's. Before that time they were a small time operation dealing in genetic engineering. Whether or not it was already under Illuminati control at this time is unclear.

Their role in HR can't be too big. If they are a big player they could once again be behind the rise of the pandemics that will mark the beginning of the collapse. It is not really clear when Page gets control of VersaLife or the MJ-12 branch of the Illuminati. Whether or not that is during this time remains to be seen. I can't really imagine another villain behind VersaLife.

Yeah, that would be kinda uninspired.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they're in simply as an easter egg for fans of the first game like us to notice and get excited about. I doubt they'll be involved in the plot at all.

I thought Bob Page founded Versalife and the company mostly dealt with augmentation technology, specifically the Denton Project. I would imagine it would be more of a major players in this game.

I mean Bob Page is Versalife, right?

Edit:
Actually I'll just answer my own question:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organizations_in_Deus_Ex

A subsidiary of Page Industries, VersaLife is itself a commercial behemoth. It specialises in nanotechnology, making several products which use nanites, from nanoaugmentations, to nanotech swords, to the nanite-composed vaccine for the Gray Death. In secret, and in accordance with Majestic 12's plans for world domination, it also produces the fatal Gray Death virus. As the source of both the virus and the only working vaccine, anyone susceptible to the virus is effectively at Majestic 12's mercy.

VersaLife may operate as a pharmaceutical company, but specializes in established and theoretical applications of nanotechnology, especially in conjunction with living creatures. It also experiments with synthetic creatures, known as transgenics, and—with the aid of nanotechnology—genetically engineers organisms, presumably as a result of experimentation, or for use in experiments, or possibly both or neither. Some of these include: Greasels, Grays, and Karkians. In addition to these creatures, Bob Page claims that VersaLife created the protagonist, JC Denton, and his "brother," Paul Denton.

I have my own hope that it's nothing more than that too. Small and subtle links like that can go a long way in the end.

At the same time, it would not be terrible if VersaLife had some part to play in the global happenings of the age.

Yeah if Versalife is in there, hopefully some mention of Bob Page will be too. I mean there's a lot of backstory to tell about how all that fell into place. I would hope that DXHR isn't just a standalone story unrelated to the overarching conspiracy of the century.

Maybe you can kill Page in HR. You know sort of like killing Baby Hitler... although Page would be in his 20's right?

Then you'd get the bad ending :P

Is Cliff Stephens still alive? That'd be awesome to have him in the game. I thought he was one of the standout voices in the original.

I can't say that what you said hadn't crossed my mind. :(

But... We have our hopes up. right?

That just got me thinking about how sad the HR ending is going to be. No matter how it ends, you still know that the world is going to burn. I bet the end of the game has Adam's actions contributing directly to Bob Page's grab for power. Maybe Adam is the instrument that actually weakens the Illuminati to such a degree that Bob Page is able to take over.

It's strongly implied that Silhouette was framed for the statue bombing. Most likely was done by MJ12 and pinned on terrorism in order to shock the U.S. into approving plans for a global police organization like UNATCO.

This is one thing I wouldn't mind being retconned, if only so that... Well, you know.

Being part of UNACTO and blowing the woman up would be just as fun, and with less stupid accents.

...Then again, if I'm trying to blow up the Statue of Liberty, I can't really expect to be anything else.

Believe me though, I don't expect this to be in the game. It's more like a "wouldn't it be awesome if..." sort of thing.

I'm still holding the firm belief that "Discover the World of Tomorrow" is in fact the in game tag line of VersaLife, and a run up to DX'S "We Make Tomorrow Look Like Yesterday".

And that VersaLife is one of the best fictional evil company names ever. :D

It is way up there on the higher echelon of Evil Inc., that's for sure.

Personally, my favorite is still Umbrella. :)
