... Bioshock (3): Infinite.

"BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock (which sold over 4 million units worldwide). Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative and gameplay experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky.

Former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt has been sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities."

Maybe not quite Bioshock 3 as it's a prequel we're talking about. Still, I'm intrigued...

Smells like a relict of the Southern Confederacy, resorting to the skies after they lost the war. A "Nazis on the Moon" scenario, so to say, with Confederates.

I remember watching the trailer just has it is showed online ,it was a great week too , we had reveals of Arkham City ! Bioshock Infinite ! Minerva's Den ! and something else too that i forgot , but i remember it was a glorious week of reveal ...

Marvelous ...

By the way how come no one gets all excited for Arkham City in this forum ...
I am , and that's something coming from the one who didn't like Arkham Asylum ...

I find it hilarious that people are poo-pooing this. Really? Really? Irrational decides they're going to release another title in the series 5 years after their first and somehow that is too much? Please note that Irrational Games did not make Bioshock 2.

I'm kind of one of the few who like Bioshock 2 more than the first one so ... More talk about Minerva's Den DLC ! ...

One sixth of sixty bucks , will it offer one sixth one the game's content ? (i'm talking singleplayer wise only) ...

GrievousOdyssey

Nope , never touched it ...
Don't know why really ... i didn't have all that much time this year ...
Hell i don't even think i finished Bioshock 2 more than twice , embarassing since i use to play games at least three times in the six months period after i bought it ...

Might want to ask Dog Man over here , he plays Bioshock 2 multiplayer (PS3 version like me) ...

JackGordon
30th Aug 2010, 15:56
I bought all Bioshock 2 DLC for 360. It's also my preferred gaming platform. So it makes no sense for me to buy it on PS3.
Got Bioshock 2 (Rapture Edition) on PS3 because I needed a quick fix and because I'm a collector; I now own the Rapture Edition and the Collector's Edition (360).

And Dog Man , stop being a collector and send some money to Bevacur , seriously , the 'special editions' are not worth it in this generation ...
Maybe nine months later when they get a serious price cut , but not on release day , no sir ...

That seems like something Sander Cohen would do, but I can't remember if he did or not. The whole "conducting to a fake orchestra while classical music plays" is a pretty common gesture in films and such, so you've probably seen it in several things, the only difference being that the source of the music changes to fit the time period.

The robot thing that replaces Big Daddy is a disappointment, its like your being stalked by a really tall paedophile with mechanical arms...just ready to grope and give you sweeties.

They wasted the potential of playing a detective , they should have kept it for a "Rapture Stories" ... if there ever is one ...

I mean what does the role of a detective inspires you ? it's more than just a person who investigates a situation , it's someone with Knowledge , and someone who will use such knowledge to assemble the puzzles handed out to him with efficiency , not your average bruce who in a string of accidental encounters ends up putting the missing vase back to its place ...

'Rapture Stories' was (and still is) one of the two plot theories i had in mind for Bioshock 3 , assuming at the time that it will still takes place in the city under the ocean ...
It's simple , you play as this private detective who lives in Rapture's glory years , which means since it's overture , and up the new years eve of 1959 where zombies came in , and where the role of a man as well dressed and clean as a detective wasn't needed anymore ...
The philosophy of playing the role of a detective was quite simple , this will mark the third time players enters this dystopia , and surely by now the player is already well aware of Rapture's rich history , it's people , it's districts , just look at the Bioshock wikia , and yes , of course some pages of Rapture's history might still be missing if one really looks deep (and i mean Very Deep) into it , but for the most part , the player is Already Knows A Lot ...
Which is where the role of this detective shines , You're Him , since everything you'll be doing in the game will be based around Your Knowledge of Rapture ... the men and women who contracts you will evaluate the detective's performance , which in turn means they're evaluating the player , it's quite litteraly making the player The Character they're playing , it makes perfect sense , it's simply a Marvelous Idea , and i'm a genius mein fuhrer !!! Aaaaaaahhh ... I WALK !!! ...

*takes pills* ...

Infinite doesn't takes place in Rapture , in takes place on a completely new location , neither the player nor the character has ever seen it before ... so ... where's the advantage in playing a Detective ? why spoil this potential ? ...
They shouldn't have put the player into the shoes' of a detective for Infinite , i mean quite frankly , why couldn't they just fill us into the shoes of another secret service agent of the government ? What's the Difference ? ...

Ooooh , i see , not to make the plot look too much like Resident Evil 4 ... but it doesn't help that it's stil lthe same bloody thing ! one man , go look for woman , will meet lots of crazy people that wants him dead , in a place somewhere off the map ...

Wasted , all ******* wasted ...

Checking out the Bioshock wiki (I don't know how accurate this is), Booker DeWitt was a Pinkerton Agent that specialized in strikebreaking, but he was fired for extreme methods. So he's an old timey riot cop and hired thug essentially.

Also of note is that Pinkertons really were known mostly for crushing labour union strikes and protecting the president, so his back story is actually pretty accurate.

Right ,saw the footage ,don't ask me why (haven't got time to watch the forty seven minute interview)...

I didn't liked Brooker's lil 'comments' ,supposedly it's to give him more personality ,making him more of a character ... but to me he's almost like a faceless Nathan Drake ,whose sole reason for talking so much is to pretend that he isn't brain dead stupid ,and somehow making him a more likeable to people ,well i don't buy that ...
There was only one moment in that demo where i founded his comment is useful ,when they fight the Handyman ,Liz says that it makes it angry ,Brooker screams back "HE'S ALREADY ANGRY!"...
That line fits the action And the player's reaction to the situation ...

Brooker better be cool for the most part of the game ,i mean ,be mostly 'quiet' and speaking when it actually adds something a silent character couldn't express ...

PS: yeah i noticed there isn't a 'R' in Brooker ,but it sounds much better than Booker ...

Also ,why was it played on Easy ?...

Bioshock's "Wild Mass Guess" page on TV Trope (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WMG/Bioshock) ...

It's full of spoilers on Bioshock Infinite , it's marvelous ! ...

De Witt from Bioshock 3 is the alpha series Big Daddy main protaginist from Bioshock 2.
You heard it here first, people.

The floating city of Columbia from Bioshock 3 is Rapture in some form.
Either it crashes into the sea somehow, is discovered by Andrew Ryan, and gets retooled/spruced up with new technology, or it's the direct inspiration for Rapture (which seems most likely).

By the end of Bioshock Infinite, Columbia will have (possibly literally) gone down in flames.
Seriously, Project Icarus? The guys who worked on Columbia were just begging for it to meet a messy end, weren't they?

The man conducting near a phonograph in the trailer is Sander Cohen's father

Elizabeth is the one keeping Columbia aloft.
Liz was born telekinetic, and is the original source of the superscience on Columbia, like the sea slug was for Rapture. Plasmids (or whatever they're called now) are manufactured from her blood, which are then used to keep the city flying. The hot air balloons and propellers are just there for show, as Columbia's engineers could scarcely admit to the world that they couldn't build a flying city with American ingenuity alone.

Columbia is actually a vivid hallucination of Booker De Witt
The main character of Bioshock Infinite is actually a splicer who is imagining the entire "city in the sky" setting while actually still being in Rapture. It is possible that De Witt was an American who grew up in the early 1900s, moved to Rapture only to grow disillusioned along with many others and managed to survive the civil war but is a deranged splicer like most of the city's inhabitants. Yearning for both the "good old days" as well as escape from the underwater city, he crafted a personal delusion that mixed both his wishes: a place with the trappings of his childhood and as far away from the ocean floor as possible, which is why Columbia appears as oozing with Americana and is located in the sky. However, elements of reality still sink in, such as the big daddy figurine, the big daddy-esque mechanical creature, and the fact that De Witt and Elizabeth apparently seem to possess plasmid-like abilities.

The plot of Bioshock Infinite is eventually revealed to be an hallucination brought about by Soviet brainwashing presumably for the purpose of inducing anti-American sentiment
In the gameplay demo if you look closely at Saltonstall's badge once he turns hostile, it clearly shows the communist hammer and sickle, which didn't exist as a symbol until 1918. The game is sent in 1912. Game Informer also points out that the lyrics of the song playing in the bar closely resembles Tears For Fears' "Everybody Wants To Rule The World", which came out in 1985, when the Cold War was still going on.

Of course , Ken Levine might see all this , and decide Not to implement these plot twist into the final product ...

I mean think about it , why did Dog Days' storyline seem so 'meh' ? ...
You're going to tell me that All Our Plot Wild Theories didn't had anything to do with it ? ...

They're watching us man , they're watching us ... they'll do anything to keep a plot twist unique to their own , no matter how many modification they have to do to the original plot ... they're watching ...
