View Full Version : Riddles!

25th Mar 2010, 01:50
I have noticed a severe lack of games for this forum, so let's start with a simple one.

The Rules: I ask a riddle, first person to answer it correctly then asks a riddle themselves and so on. No using the internet, just your head.

Ok, I'll start with a common riddle:

The man who makes it doesn't want it, the man who wants it doesn't need it, and the man who needs it doesn't know it. What is it?

Sorry for asking for a hint, but is "it" something one can physically touch? You don't have to tell me if that's considered cheating.

It's up to the person who asks the riddle if they want to give hints or not since the riddles will likely vary in difficulty. In this case, yeah, it's a physical object.

My guess is as good as Joe's.

Counterfeit money, is it now?

It is a coffin. Your turn Joe.

The downside of this thread is that no one can continue the game until the player and or riddler says so ...
Because until a riddle is solved / asked , we can only wait ...

Here it is:

The following sentence is false. The preceding sentence is true. Are these sentences true or false? :nut:

25th Mar 2010, 23:16
By the laws of geometry, I declare false!

*words cannot describe how my head just self imploded* ...

Anyone? :hmm: Ill release the answer in exactly 40 hours (give or take a few, and I might forget cause I might have stuff to do, or play games :gamer: <<that pic is a bit :naughty: if you know what I mean)

27th Mar 2010, 15:28
I'll wager a guess and say both sentences are false.

I'll wager a guess and say both sentences are false.

YES! :D Here is the full answer:

Neither, it's a paradox. If the first is true, then the second must be false, which makes the first false - it doesn't work.

As TC I would feel guilty posting 2 out of three riddles in this thread so far, so I'll let the next person who posts ask the next riddle. We can't have this thread stagnate now can we?

If it's okay with you, Mr. Brackstone, I've a riddle. It goes something like this:

A few boys at a college let loose some goats. They painted numbers on the goats' sides before releasing them. The police found numbers 1, 2, and 4 after three days of searching. What happened to number 3?

Truly mind-throttling... Oh and welcome, Vincent

Clue please?

30th Mar 2010, 00:51
It's a college joke I twisted into a puzzle. If you read a few explicit magazines, especially the ones that have jokes right after a column on that magazines' "spotlight employee" (my terms, not the magazines'), and if they are having to do with college in that month, then you'll find it. Last year's April or June edition, I think. ;)

30th Mar 2010, 00:55
That's a tough one you have there Vincent, I haven't heard that one before. It will sure keep my mind busy for a while.

30th Mar 2010, 01:04
It shouldn't be that hard. You've got the perfect prank with this one. I hope that helps y'all out some.

30th Mar 2010, 01:16
I'm going to take a chance and say that out of the 4 boys who shaved their "goatees", the third one didn't? lol. [But why would police look for that?] I haven't the slightest clue...

30th Mar 2010, 01:44
It's got nothing to do with facial hair. These are actual goats. Good try, though. Just don't think too hard on it. Try to think like a 20-something year old who has decided he's gonna pull a prank on "the Man". I hope I'm not giving it away like that.

30th Mar 2010, 17:04
I suck at riddles.

30th Mar 2010, 17:11
Yeah... Have not a clue on Vince's. Anyone want a somewhat easy riddle? It's not even a riddle, really. You just need to sound it out.

31st Mar 2010, 22:46
The answer is there is no goat number 3. The boys just painted the numbers 1, 2, and 4 on three goats. Fooled the police, heehee. I'll give Mr. Jeremy the floor, now.

I knew it... :p here's my riddle:

"Deux ply once a grape zex s buddy awe dance wizard the zester."

Try to decode the meaning via sounding the entire sentence out.
