View Full Version : Dream Casting for a Batman movie

Out of any screen actor since the dawn the cinema, who would be your picks to star in a Batman movie? This is fantasy, remember, it doesn't matter if the actors are dead or if they're too old or whatever.

Batman:

Clint Eastwood:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/27/Harry_Callahan.JPG

Joker:
Lon Chaney Sr.:
http://eric.b.olsen.tripod.com/images/chaney1.jpg

or

Conrad Veidt
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll303/amazzagianni/conradveidtinthemanwholrd7.jpg

Two-Face:
Robert De Niro.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g138/shawnahicks85/robertdeniro.jpg

Harley Quinn:
Arleen Sorkin
http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/4157/2088786198111150a8cc.jpg

Mr. Freeze:
Patrick Stewart
http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/5666/patrickstewart.jpg

Explanations:

Well, nobody plays the badass-hardass justice serving mother****er better than Clint Eastwood. Lon Chaney is one of the most expressive screen actors of all time, and Conrad Veidt was the inspiration for the Joker. Robert De Niro has a duality about him where he can play the young, optimistic DA and switch to the cold, ruthless psychopath. His performance in Taxi Driver is really great at showing how he would play a well-meaning but troubled and clearly disturbed man. Arleen Sorkin is Harley Quinn, and is a comedienne to boot. And Patrick Stewart... if there is one man more intimidating and posessing more ball-hair than Clint Eastword it is Jean Luc Picard.

So there are a few of my picks. I think each actor would be great in their respective role.

Haha, no.

But seriously, Fiennes could kick all sorts of ass with pretty much any major role in a Batman movie.

No idea. I'd be more convinced if the pic was of him smiling. Doubt he could top Chaney though, that is just unreal.

On one hand, I think he could do The Riddler. But on the other hand, I don't want The Riddler to get lost in Johnny Depp the way The Joker has been lost in Heath Ledger.

I'm hesitant for big stars to be cast. I'd prefer a bunch of no names hired for the quality of their auditions, and not their names.

Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson... these are big names.

If it wasn't for Tim Burton then Depp wouldn't be associated with nearly as much weirdness and repetitive performances. The man can act. But he also has a huge name which would draw 10x the teenyboppers that Heath Ledger did.

Well, as I said, I have no doubt he could do it. The man is very verstile and could likely play every role in the movie and do it better than a lot of actors in a full cast. I just hope it comes off as The Riddler and not Johnny Depp in a green jacket with question marks.

Robin/Dick Grayson-Ron Howard

Howard was a very talented young man, and, age wise, he fit perfectly into the window of 1963-1970.

You do know that Arnold wasn't a CG creation in Terminator Salvation, right? They used a bodybuilder to play his body and CG'd Arnie's head on him. If anything, you just proved that they don't have to use CG for Venom Bane. :p

I'm not kidding, though. If you've ever watched The Andy Griffith Show, you should know about his goofy grin and almost too innocent to be real demeanor. That innocence could be a powerful tool for an actor playing a villain. Put him in a film with a cast like I have above (sans The Chaneys, as Man-Bat wasn't created until 1970, and I obviously don't need 2 Jokers :p) with a master director like Alfred Hitchcock, and you could have an incredibly powerful Batman film.

The_Hylden
22nd Aug 2012, 04:41
Yup, watched them so much I probably know most episodes by heart.

I think if you used the entire cast for a Batman film, lol, you'd really have some gold there. Floyd, the Barber, is already the Mad Hatter, heh

Griffith, to this point, I could actually see playing a much darker character than Knotts (Knotts playing such a dark villain might be too disturbing just because it's so wrong). Anything directed by Hitchcock would be hard-pressed to fail, also. Yeah, that would be something to have seen.

Hitchcock could have made a cameo as the Calendar Man :D

batfan08
22nd Aug 2012, 14:20
I'd like to start this post off by saying that you, sir, have great taste in entertainment. The Andy Griffith show is amazing, and I still enjoy it to this day. I'll be damned, Floyd was the Mad Hatter, wasn't he? A friend of mine recorded 119 of the 120 episodes of the classic Batman series from The Hub, so every now and then, we'll find ourselves watching it when we get together. The other night was George Sanders as Mr. Freeze. As for Hitchcock, apparently, Calendar Man was introduced in 1958, so the timing would be right, but I'm not so sure that the incarnation would be.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Calendar Man initially a costumed villain? I'm not quite sure how Hitchcock would look in a tight red outfit with a cloak and shoulder pads made from pages of a calendar.:p I was thinking that Hitchcock could be (surprisingly) Alfred. It wouldn't be totally inaccurate, considering that Alfred's initial incarnation in Detective Comics was a somewhat portly man (even though by the time my film would come out, Alfred would have adopted his slender, mustachioed appearance some 16-20 years earlier in 1944).
