I stumbled across a cool program called Blood Omnicide. Its basically a remake of Blood Omen but in 3D.

http://legacy-of-kain.ru/bo1/omnicide.shtml

When you click on the bottom links, it takes you to a forum. There you can download the game. I've converted the language to english on the forums and Readme file, but the site itself is protected by a no copying protection. I can't convert the language to english. Everything is in Russian on the site. I've tried converting the forum posts, but there's nothing in there that tells me how to run the game in 3D. If someone knows anything about this, please let me know.

Nevermind, I figured it out. Anyone who is interested in this demo, you start the game using Blood Omnicide.bat file. Then hit F8 to switch between 3D and Regular mode.

Well, if you're interested in this project (and don't speak russian), you should visit the english version of the omnicide's page. Here it is:

http://legacy-of-kain.ru/bo1/omnicide_eng.shtml

You should also watch a video, showing the current progress of Omnicide. Believe me, it's pretty cool ))

And keep in mind, that the crew really needs help from modellers, artists, programmers etc. to finish the project. So if you're willing and able to help, please, contact them.

lol nope. I haven't had one for years. I didn't have a cell phone for ages either, and I currently don't have a single gaming system (they're still at the parent's house, I have to dig them out but I'm much too busy with school right now).

I go to college, there's plenty of computers here for me to use, I get a very limited internet on my cell phone (I use it for looking up the addresses of places and movie times and such), and I see all of my friends enough that I don't need other means of keeping in touch. I recently even went so far as to delete my facebook (and I highly recommend it to everyone!)

Damn, this is intense. I would assume that this is probably insanely hard to do atm. I wish I could program or something and contribute to this. Oh, well. I shall check this website often for updates.

Could you translate some other pages of the website? I'd normally just dump it in google translate but I can't because of the copyright.

no, they started work on this in 2009, but they will have finished their work in 2019...
А вот с правами Venom, конечно же, устроил запарку для англоязычных пользователей, что не может не радовать...:rasp:

wow, this is what i have waited soo many yrs for & finally there's ppl smart enuff to start work on it.
It's looking pretty good so far & i think it's a mod for The.Elder.Scrolls - oblivion.

i agree with Raziel'sRevenge, it is nutz with all the requests on myspace & it's a total waste of time playing those games since it really doesn't do anything for you & there's probably stat padding/cheating in the games.I wasted so many hrs on the racing & vampire games.

I am not sure but i thought there also was a soul reaver mod for The.Elder.Scrolls - Morrowind

Start Blood Omnicide.bat for game in a mode of the full screen

Start Blood Omnicide - windowed.bat for game in a window mode

Is what you need to execute to get game running
It is running the quake engine & has multiplayer but not sure if that works for the game.
Would be REALLY COOL if they added co-op for LoK BO.
HEY there's an idea for eidos/SE, remake BO & add mutiplayer co-op would rock.

Hey everybody, here are some words about the current progress of the project from the developers:

With the appearance of a tech demo, the idea of using game’s original sprites became solid. We started to fully incorporate this idea into the project’s code. At the same time, artists and modelers started to came back with some work. Modellers are working primarily on the interior, artists are basically doing the same thing they did before. We haven’t completely dumped the idea of 3D models, just postponed it for later times. With the addition of sprites we solved another problem - stagnation in creating an ingame logic(without monster models we couldn’t tie animation to them; it was unclear how to make A.I. battle mechanics, etc.)
Another upside is simplification of 3D models creation: having ready sprite images inside the game, 3D modelers can easily determine animation, creating it closer to the game’s original style. At this moment we’re mastering main elements of gaming process: blood drinking, fighting, artifact and spell usage, inventory etc. Also we can answer the question of whether Blood Omnicide will be a stand alone game considering graphic recourses. It won’t. You’ll need original PC version of Blood Omen to run it.

So, to clarify: yes, the game would use sprites from the original game for characters instead of 3d models. BUT it is a temporary desision just not to slow down the work. When the 3d models will be done, they will replace the sprites, as it should be.
So if you are a modeller, please, contact this guys. They could really use your help.

what the hell is all of that? Is my computer messing up and shoing nothing but vowels with various symbols above them for the end of your post or did you decide to post something unreadable? I'm not sure if I should hope for the first or second lol

wrace0
26th Feb 2010, 23:58
It is easy to answer your question - this unreadable symbols are ones of another language - like symbols in the name of this theme...
If you want to know "what the hell is all of that" - use the appropriate translator; all things you need to know was written on English...

This another language is Russian - Bad213Boy (who created this theme) wrote about this in the first post...:nut:

Raziel'sRevenge

then my computer must be messing up. I sent it through 3 translators using Russian each time (I figured that would be it since that's your location) and still only came up with a bunch of vowels. The strange thing is that the Russian in the first post and in the title works just fine for me, I could tell that's what it was immediately (it has a very distinctive look) but what you wrote only came up vowels, so I think the problem is on my side. Oh well, I'll live... :D

Shall do, but this does lead to an interesting point. Where can I lay my hands on a copy of Blood Omen 1 so that I'll be able to use this new 3D rendering that has been (well, as of this post will be) so graciously bestowed upon us? It looks amazing!

Hey everybody, if you're still interested in the progress of this project, here's some news from the developers:

1. Prologue.
It's been more than a month since the latest news and we've got something to show. During this time we've generally been working at expanding the features that were done in the past and at development tools. We've paid attention to the toolset for generation and modification of the terrain. We didn't make much progress in it (still using the legacy method - creating a brushset for an elevation map, then painting it by hand with special textures). This is how the terrain looks like in the level editor:
http://www.kot-in-action.com/vortex/cboed1.jpg

By the way, terrain blending shader receives a facelift, so that's how the landscape looks like in the game:
http://www.kot-in-action.com/vortex/cbowip22.jpg

2. Game work.
We've adjusted the reatime lights editor, it has an embedded model viewer now, this should simplify the 3d-designers’ work so they can view the models right in game (WYSIWYG), using the lighting technology and other engine's features, like animation, attaching secondary models to bones/tags, special effects etc. Also light sources that shine only at night and fade at dawn have been added.
Substantial progress is achieved in the Blood Pill utility. Thanks to Andrei [Rackot] Grachev and Ben Lincoln, we managed to depack tiles and maps format which will help to recreate BO maps with even greater detalization and ease. Also several data unpacking routines has been improved and bugfixed. The utility can be found and downloaded at the legacy-of-kain.ru files section.
New features of the gamecode:
- "Control mind"/"Spirit Wrack" spells with ability to travel all levels. It's interesting that while we were implementing it, we got the game prologue scene (Kain’s assasination) for free, as alive Kain is nothing but a unit under "control mind" spell and the spell caster (vampire Kain) is located in the crypt. Of course that’s all in terms of game code, not gameplay.
- subtitles for all videos
- footstep sounds (optional)
- "Stun", "Incapacitate", "Blood Gout", "Repel" and "Blood Shower" spells
- postprocess shaders receive facelift via "Sharpen" and "Night desaturation" effects
- Rogue enemies

But the greatest progress is achieved in locations. Ziegsturhl is 60% finished and we got it functional, the rest 40% of work is about making prop models for interior and exterior (BO has a lot of them). Ziegsturhl will have 5 houses to visit and some more citizens to feed from, and some new secrets. Here’re some WIP shots:
http://www.kot-in-action.com/vortex/cbowip20.jpg
http://www.kot-in-action.com/vortex/cbowip21.jpg

3. Epilogue.
There will be a gameplay teaser in future, after we manage to finish most important prop models and location is played fine. We would appreciate any help with this.
And some fun: this screenshot shows a "complete legacy mode" we are adding to the game options:

Hi there

Raziel'sRevenge: recently we have managed to use VAG files as well as PC ADPCM ones, so if you have PS1 version of BO it will fit too.
