Hey everyone.

I showed a qwik pic of this in the introduction thread, and I thought I would expand the shots to show what I have so far. I started this about 2 months ago when all I had to go by was the boxart. I didn't know this forum existed with all its great screen shots (unfortunatley).

I know this is sort of off topic from discussing the game itself, but this is how I have kept myself busy whilst waiting for the game release. I hope this is something some of you will enjoy seeing.

I have put together two costumes previously (Batman Comic style and The Dark Knight inspired). I found some cigarette cases in a clearance sale and thought they would make a really nice belt.

Once I had it finished, I immediatley thought it was the perfect Arkham Asylum video game costume belt. And it all took off from there. My next acquirement was some soccer shin guards to which I added foamies cut and painted to resemble the gauntlets. I also added oval craft beads to some pirate gauntlets I had.

Next, I took a pair of rubber gardening boots and, again with foamies, added the armour to the front and sides on them. I also acquired a unitard from a Zentai costumer in China and a satin lined, very full cape. I also made an Arkham Batarang from foamies and a couple of juice bottle caps.

I next obtained a Hulk muscle suit costume to wear under the unitard to give me a bit more bulk (although I don't think any amount of padding could make as big as Batman is depicted in the game, and still be able to move).

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp76/batty999_photos/Arkham%20Video%20game%20suit/IMG_0332.jpg

Finally, I obtained what I believe is the most Arkham Asylum screen accurate cow there is out there, at the moment, until some wonderful artist sculpts and molds one for that purpose.

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp76/batty999_photos/Arkham%20Video%20game%20suit/Arkham_003.jpg

At the moment, my cape is with a seamstress getting modifications done, so I cannot show any pics of the full suit up yet, but believe me, as soon as I get my cape back, I will suit up and post pics of the final outfit.

Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy what I have done so far.

CrashxUae,
Thank you for those kind comments, but I have to give a lot of the credit to the talented sculptor who created the cowl, which id the centerpiece of the whole look.

marvinfish,

I knew you were kidding. After all, this is a forum of grown adults who play video games:D
However, I do enjoy making some of the costume parts myself and bringin it all together. I regularly attend charity fund raisers, kids hospitals and the like in costume to help attract crowds and entertain the little ones. Nothing makes your day like a childs eyes widening as he/she screams at the top of their lungs "Its Batman." So, thanks mate for your kind words also.

Ahasverus,

As soon as the cape comes back from getting its mods done, I will definately suit up and provide full body shots of the whole outfit together. In the meantime, here is a photomanipulation I did early on as the costume started to come together, using my classic comic bodysuit, Clooney cowl and started to build the belt and gauntlets.

Why not just buy this one, since it looks like Batman from Arkham Asylum?

yea, kinda what he said....... i give you an A for effort.

but, anyone who wants to dress as bats....... needs to invest a year into lifting weights, not 100 bucks into a hulk suit, that doesnt finish in the legs.

it looks like bruce wayne could only afford half a weight set.

and i have a freind who bought that 'supreme rubies' one and said its a TOTAL NIGHTMARE to wear.

It's easier to go as The Comedian, just be a sadist with a gun. :)

Nice suit though

Wbz14,

Thank you. I guess the time taken to make the bits and pieces I have done for this suit is what I enjoy doing, so it doesn't feel like a chore. And yes, the suit does appear light in colour, but that is caused by the flash. It is actually much darker in real life.

Nemisi296,

It is very hard for a person who dresses in skin tight lycra to take offense to anythign LOL. I do know what you mean though. The influence of the rubber suits in the movies has made it that, when you do a fabric costume, thoughts immediately go to the old Adam West TV show. And my Adam West guttular muscle doesn't help.

DarkKnight 11,

As stated by another poster, the Rubies Deluxe costume is extremley difficult to wear. It is a one size fits all, and that size is Batman in this game, 6 foot 6 inches, 260 pounds and with a 30 inch head. Honestly, you could live in that cowl. And it is very expensive, for what you get, and not very durable. Some people on the costuming boards I am on have stated that they brought it and some areas of the latex, around the upperar, shoulder area tore during the first wear.

VXR,

Thanks for your advise. I agree, the Hulk suit did finish high on the legs, which ahs been rectified since that pic was taken (Couldn't believe how bad it looked til I saw the pics. Those legs looked like they belonged in a bucket of the colonel's finest). And, given my age, its probably too late for me to start trying to bulk up normally, so this is my best alternative. Besides, the kids at the charity events and hospitals I attend see a mask with pointy ears and a cape, and to them, thats Batman. So its all good. Thanks again.

The Comedian,

The Comedian is a great suit. Easy to do and wear. I just don't like guns. Thanks for your kind words on the suit mate.

Cheers to all.

What happened to the Bat-symbol? It looked better in the earlier shots.

Gee, Thank you very much, really appreciate it.
EliteF50, that was my comic style costume I started with, before I got my new body suit.
Zhim, I agree. It is much more fun to make it yourself.
Warvibe24, Sorry you don't like the suit.
Maxii, Thanks for the compliment mate.

After the arrival of the cowl yesterday, I couldn't wait for the cape to come back from the seamstress who is making some mods for me.

If I had to give this pic a title, it would be "Alfred, bring me my cape!"

Final reveal will be next week.
