Do someone have the same problem as me ? I'm stuck at 10% in the launcher of FF7 after installing all of the updates and it says "connection error - You need a working internet connection to log to FF7". WTF !!! I'm on the internet -__- !!!

Having the same problem. I actually got all the way through once but it refused to take my SE account info, said it didn't exist (it does) and then locked up. Now it's stuck at 10%.

Likely we're just bottlenecking the login servers. Finally finished the download and am stuck here.

Yeah, I realized the same thing when I let it stay at 10% and got the connection error. We are unintentionally ddosing the servers, I'm sure it will figure itself out soon enough.

Same problem with launcher stuck at 10% Network error

This launch for this game is really bad to be honest wish they just release it on Steam.

I finally got in. What I did was after the connection error, I clicked network settings. I did this about three times, then on my third time I realized "No Proxy" was not checked. After checking it and hitting Okay, it loaded to the login. I clicked Square Enix North America and bam.

I installed this game in Windows x64 and can't play this game because after clicking play button, the launcher close itself and open again.

I try to run ff7_en.exe in the installation directory manually, and got an error dialog with this message:

ff7_en.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

Who got this problem and already fixed it? How to do that? Thank you.

More info:

Before I got this error, I got another error that d3dx9_29.dll not found, so...

I download DirectX9 Distribution Package (June 2010) from www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details... (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109)
Then extracted it (following to instructions in pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/... (http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/restoredx9dll.htm))
Find and copy d3dx9_29.dll to C:\Windows\SysWOW64.
Restart the machine

That error is gone and got new error that is described in above post.

Yeah. Mine does the same thing. I'm guessing its because the server could be down. which is bull**** since its technically not an Online game. You just have to be online to play.

I'm also getting the same, running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit :(

EDIT (Fixed!): So since the launcher wasn't working, I thought I'd try running the executable directly from my Program Files.
I got an error stating d3dx9_29.dll was missing, Googled the file and found it was related to DirectX.
Downloaded and ran the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer and voila, clicking "Play" now works!

Hopefully my fix will help others as well, happy gaming~

champjss: I tried your method first and then skousol solution and it didn't work. What I did was to delete the d3dx9_29.dll that I copied to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and then run the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer and it worked.

I was playing the game on launch day no problem. I've now tried to launch it, and when I hit 'Play', the game is just returning to the play button - the game is not launching.

I have tried a full uninstall, redownload and reinstall, and still having the same issue. Other games work fine, so doesn't seem to be a DX Issue.

First of all, FF7 would not install: I got "Error Code: -5006 : 0x8000ffff" when i tried to install it.

So I installed it on my laptop, activated it, copied the install folder back over to my desktop, booted it up, then when I click "Play" on the client I get another error which is:

"CreateProcess returned a error..."

Error code: 193

Suggestions? Or did I just waste £8? Not impressed.

So... you installed it on your laptop

then copied the files over to your Pc, and expected it to work?

Programs have installers for a reason.. They set up registry keys and other stuff. If that information is not present, the game has no idea where to find the info it is looking for and will not run. Consdering the fact it connects to check for updates and verifies w/copy protection, its no wonder it doesn't work.

I've installed the game and activated/registered/whatever we're calling it using both the numbers that came in the e-mail. Everything downloaded and installed fine but when I press PLAY the launcher closes for a split second and comes right back up, and does nothing else. I've found a few other threads with similar issues and tried every fix I could find people listed in those threads, but none have helped at all. It seems the support is largely useless so I'm hoping another person out there might know what I might be able to do to get this working.

It's such a shame that this game is having so many issues. I was really looking forward to it. If I can't get playing by tomorrow I'll surely be returning this.

Hello taylor,

When you click on the "View Online Profile" does it still result in an error? If so, can you please advise the exact error message? Is it simply a 404 error?

Please note you can also avail of this feature at www.finalfantasyviipc.com by following the steps below.

<ul>
Click the log in button on the top right of the page
Select the SQUARE ENIX North America button
Log in with your username and password
Once logged in you will see a menu on the right side of the page, click on the "my profile" option
[/list]

From here you will be able to manage your saves and see your achievements that you have unlocked.

Thanks!

We're sorry, but something went wrong.

We've been notified about this issue and we'll look at it shortly.

Really?

Let me get this straight...I paid for the game, waiting 3 days for it to download (crappy internet connection), jump through hoops registering the damn thing, and all I get is "we'll look at it shortly"?

We'll look at it shortly.

What the hell does that mean?

What do I have to do to activate this game or who do I contact to get my money back?

Everything installed with no problems, no activation issues. Presented with the main menu screen and press "Play", menu goes away and the cursor turns into the loading circle, then it cycles back to the main menu again. Apologize if this has been posted already I searched several topics and didn't see one matching these symptoms.

I have been playing the game for about a month with no issues and just today ran into this issue. I was having another issue with game saves on my other computer to which SE was of no help. Anyone find an answer to this? I attempted running as administrator and checked my firewall and antivirus settings to make sure that it had the proper access with no success. There have not been any changes to the computer from when it worked and when it stopped working.

Thank you for posting your troubleshooting tips Brad. That's a really great way to explain the support steps. Lersar, have you been able to go through any of these processes to get the game working? The main things you'll want to try to start out will be doing a Windows Update in your start menu, DirectX update from the Microsoft site (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35), and a graphics card update from either AMD or Nvidia or your system's manufacturer. Past that you could quite literally run down Brad's list here and see if that makes any difference.

getting really mad now and want a refund! How would i go about getting one?

SE-Chris

These issues from the launch of the game are typically remedied by clicking on the Square Enix North America button on the lefthand side of the login launcher as Grant had mentioned earlier in this thread. You may also want to try closing any other programs in which could interfere with Final Fantasy VII connecting or running with full rights. If you are still seeking a refund we apologize for the frustration this may have caused and would like to direct you to the vendor who can assist you with this process: Digital River (http://corporate.digitalriver.com/store/digriv/Corp/sectionName.contact/subSectionName.contactUs/page.contactUs)

Already tryed...

Alright, this is coming from a Systems Engineer.

The click play not working issue is more than likely related to DirectX.

TO fix that, go to this link: www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details... (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35)
That will download and run the update and properly install the driver with the recommended DirectX for the PC.
DO NOT FOLLOW champjss answer because it will cause grief later on with your PC. To be concise, it will bloat your registry and event logs with extra crap every time you run the game since it's not the recommended patching method.

THe stack issue above by Suretodeath, is related to a bad install. re-install. If that fails, You have a bad download of FF7. I'd recommend doing, if you know how to, a md5 checksum of the file to ensure it is not being corrupted somehow on download.

Lastly, make sure your PC is up-to-date.

I just bought and downloaded the re-release of FF7. The installation went fine, I did not receive any errors. When I attempt to launch the game to play it, I immediately get an error saying FF7_Launcher.exe has stopped working. I restarted my computer in hopes that was the problem, but I still receive the same error. I am not sure what else to do, so anyone with ideas, it would greatly be appreciated.

I am currently running:
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
Intel Core i5 - 2500k CPU 3.30 GHz
16GB RAM 64-Bit OS

Please Help

It may be that the the system is having a hard time either accessing the content with permissions or is having a problem rendering the game. We'd like you to take a few steps to remedy this problem. Firstly, please make you're running the program as an administrator. You may also want to try running the game in compatibility mode for Vista or even XP as the game was not made to run on your version of Windows. In regards to the graphics or rendering side of the issue, please make sure you've got the latest version of Direct X installed and update you graphics card drivers to the newest version possible. If you're still having an issue can you please provide what your graphics processor is for this computer? Thank you.

I tried running it in multiple compatibility modes (Windows Vista/SP1/SP2, Windows XP/SP2/SP3, and Windows 7). I have Directx11 I believe and my graphics card that I am currently using is nVIDIA GeForce GTX 570.

Welcome to the post 2009 Square-Enix. They have been falling over themselves lately. They can't release a good final fantasy game, releases ones we don't care about, remakes games that have been remade over and over again, re-releases a 14 year old game with no tweaks whatsoever.

Final Fantasy VII never worked on my windows 8 64 bit edition. The closest I got was in safe mode I was able to get the launcher to work long enough to activate the game. I had since installed it on my laptop. and then installed windows 7 on my second hard drive and installed it there. Then I got a new hard drive and reinstalled that windows 7 and low and behold, activation limit reached. Great, Now I can't play a game I bought a month ago on my main windows 8 PC, on my second hard drive, and my laptop was just to test if the game worked, I have since removed it since it is small screen. Securom's tactic to revoke licenses didn't work, unintallin the game both on the windows 8 PC and the laptop didn't regain any activation increases. And quite frankly, the fact that square decided to release a 14 year old game with this DRM BS is pure BS.

I'm basically waiting for securom to respond to my emails, but I'm not re-buying a game I bought a month ago, and one I've bought 15 years ago on the PS1 (which i still have by the way, but I rather play with the graphical and auditory upgrades afforded by the mods in the PC version).

I'm having the APPCRASH problem now too. I played 14 hours without this being an issue once, and then today FFVII stopped working. DirectX is up-to-date as is my GPU. I tried logging out and logging back in...and now it's saying I don't have an internet connection when I clearly do because I am typing this. What gives?

servers are probably down. you're not the only one. running it in admin mode/proxies/etc won't fix it - just wait until they come out with another apology and they tack on something else to keep it running for another 3 days. for now, just dl an emulator and pop in your FF7 disc - I heard it's noticably better than the PC version. They apparently did nothing to make this better than the previous PC version, besides 1. DRM, 2. Cloud saves, 3. A stats modifier, and 4. SecuROM.

we've all been pilfered 12 bucks. I'm never buying anything from these guys again, and I mean it.

So I was excited to see FF7 being played on Twitch and not playing it in nearly 20yrs I decided to buy it (without viewing forums first). Installed perfectly fine but when I went to run the launcher it appreared as if it wanted to load and then NOTHING. After contacting Tech Support 4 times they had me try everything under the sun. (Update drivers, have no programs run at startup, reinstall several times, turn off AV, run admin etc) Sad to say it still does not work and they were all stumped. I had read in other forums of people having issues once the launcer was running, but I cannot even get that far. Does anyone know any other routes to get this damn thing working since tech does not?

It updated and then restarted and I can get to the homescreen (Play, Settings, Achievements, etc) but when I hit Play, the launcher just flashes for a moment and then brings me back to the homescreen. Hello! If you already tried such things as update codecs, drivers, directx etc. And it still doesn't work try this:

This should resolve problem with stackHash crash:

1. Open your Start menu and click Control Panel
2. Browse to &ldquo;System Maintenance&rdquo; then &ldquo;System&rdquo;
3. In the left panel, select &ldquo;Advanced System Settings&rdquo; from the available links
4. You should now see the System Properties Window, which will have three sections. The top section is labeled &ldquo;Performance&rdquo; and has a &ldquo;Settings&rdquo; button. Click this button.
5. Select the &ldquo;Data Execution Prevention&rdquo; tab.
6. Select the option which reads &ldquo;Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select&rdquo;
7. Use the &ldquo;Browse&rdquo; button to locate the ff7_(insert_your_lang_here).exe file for game, and click Open to add it to your exceptions list.
8. Click Apply or OK to commit your changes.
9. Reboot (?)

Hope it will help!

Final_Fantasy_VII_DownloadManager.exe downloaded the 1.0.5 version of the game and installed it.

Ran the Launcher, entered my serial, and...

"FF7_Launcher.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
AppName: ff7_launcher.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: msvcr90.dll
ModVer: 9.0.30729.6161 Offset: 0006ccd5

Running Win XP SP3 w/ all updates & vidya drivers.

Avira disabled, firewall wide open :)

I downloaded Final Fantasy VII (PC) last night, and the game does not launch for some reason. When I click Launch...it does a real quick flash and nothing happens. There were no error message explaining why and my computer doesn't crash or anything...it's just that the game will not load.

First thing I thought of was launching it as an Administrator...but that did not work. Next thing I thought was compatibility issue (which shouldn't be the case, since the game was optimized for PC anyways) but that did not work either.

I haven't tried re-installing it, but I was hoping it wouldn't have to come to that if there's another way of fixing it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I contacted SquareEnix support last Tuesday (15th), but have yet to receive a response. They explicitly state that they would respond within 48 hours.

Same problem. Downloaded it again yesterday. Installation without problems.
When i try to start, this tiny windows loading circle appears for a second and then disappears. Nothing more happens.
Win compatibly menu won´t help in Win 7 or Win XP mode.
Any ideas?

I can't launch the game and it says Error 9000. What does this mean?

I've had the game for over a year and it has worked perfectly fine, however last time i tried to open the game it checked for updates and updated itself, then when I pressed the play button it looks as if the game is trying to load but then the game never loads no matter how long I wait for it to open.

Can someone from Square Enix make it possible to bypass the launcher when starting FFVII from the Steam Library? It makes the game impossible to play from Big Picture mode in Steam, which ruins the entire Console/Controller experience. At least provide a radio checkbox that supports autostart, personally I'm not too concerned with the options offered from that menu and would like the game to load immediately when I fire it up.

It also makes it impossible for me to play it without logging in, why should I. It is a _single_ player game @square-enix, wtf? If I could I would ask for my money back, if this is not removed in the near future, or at least to not be mandatory to login to play a single player game, which wasn't connected to some kind of account prior to the rerelease.

Ive downloaded the game yesterday. It worked after a few tries( I dont know how) but it did. I was very happy but today I wanted to play the game and it doesnt work. Deleted the game, re-installed it. Run as admin. Nothing!

How can this be fixed because I want to play the game I bought!

I am trying to access the free trial so I can see if this game is something I really want to invest it.

I download the free trial launcher, made an account, hence I can post here.

But when I go to the launcher and use the option for existing Square Enix accounts it tells me my details are incorrect when they are not.

I put in my ID, I put in my password. I don't have a one time password since I never asked for one but it keeps telling me it's wrong.

I do not know what to do.
