    Thank you!

I've waited so lomg for this. Unfortunately, I cant test this because apparently Soul Reaver 1 and 2 decided they hate my computer. They both used to work. Now they domt. Not even if i do clean imstalls. I am so sad.

Hm, strange. Describe your problem with SR1 and give configuration of your PC.

I tested this game (i.e. all LOK-games) on different PCs with different OS's: Win-98 (under Virtual PC, only BO1 and SR1), Win-2000, WinXP (long time), Win-7 (one time), Win-8 (PC of my wife in the past), Win-10 x64 (now, one year at least); video-card nVidia (different versions) on the most real PCs (Virtual PC has its own video-card, I do not remember now its name) and Intel-HD on several last PCs. I never tested the work of LOK-games on the PC's with Radeon or something else (I just do not buy PCs with another video-card than nVidia; I have Intel HD as the second video-card in addition to nVidia).

On all PCs (with described configurations) I do not have any additional (to already known and not critical) problems with the work of these games (including any problems with the sound in SR1 which was fixed by the last patch).

But I also know about problems with SR1 on Win-7 due to bugged DEP on this OS (though I do not see them in my own case) and I also know about strange behavior of anti-viruses, so even for the modern games (like Diablo-3) there are instructions to include the game folder into the list of exclusions for any anti-virus (including system's one - for example, on Win-10). Also there are instructions to run the games with needed rights (or as admin), but - in the case of Steam - all needed rights will be set on the Steam-folder by Steam itself at the first install of this product.

Hm, nVidia and Win-10, though very many RAM and VRAM, + 8 cores.
The problems with the possible excess of VRAM should be fixed just by dgVoodoo (I configured it in the patch 1.2.3.0 for using just of 256 MB of VRAM - it is enough for SR1).
To limit the number of cores (to only 1) to the process, use this guide.
Also try to choose the lower as possible resolution in the starting configuration dialog (i.e. 640x480).
In the case of patch 1.2.3.0 you should change in kain2.txt in the section Game the value of parameter below to such value (from 1):
    HideSettingsDialog=0
(for that this dialog is not skipped.)
And/or Right Click on the kain2.exe in the game folder, Properties, Compatibility page, check "Disable auto-scaling at high screen resolution" (I just translated this option, so it can have slightly different text).
Be sure that the folder with the game SR1 is included into the exclusions list for your anti-virus.

I'll humor you. SR1 makes a crashinf file.

The Kain2 Exception Handler has yet another bug to report:
    Unable to open mapfile.

    EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
    Crash address: 77cf6660
    Stack: (at 2b:19edc0)
    000000e8 00db0000 000000e0 07cd1d08

Still, what the heck does it mean "cant open map file" o.o

Do not pay attention to the string "Unable to open mapfile." - the game writes it always, even in the case when this file lies in the game folder. Look at the crash address - 77cf6660: either it outside of the memory of the game or the game executes in some strange part of memory (I do not see such cases yet).

What of instruction above do you do and when does the game crash now?

Ive tried it all. I dont know if my option at this point is installing an older video card and seeing of it works.

Your option at this point - just to install Virtual PC (any of them) and play in this game under it, since it is very strange situation in your case because other fans with powerful PCs and newest OSs do not have problems with this game that can't be fixed by usual set of instructions.

Hmmm, even with an old pc i have here running windows 10 (barely) and a video card i used to own in my pc, it still crashes. Do you think the game is compatible with Windows Server Edition, because I'm gonna rent one for like $5 a month (unrelated).

I think that sooner something wrong with (some) hardware or software (i.e. OS does not matter), because I and some other fans do not have any problems with running SR1. We all have very different configurations of our PCs (though we all have now Win-10).
Now I saw only one match for the PCs of gamers which have the problem with the crash of SR1 - all of them have processor AMD.

P.S.: look again into the guide - I wrote the full list of possible instructions in it (which can, perhaps, solve the problem). Of course, it will be better to have for me one such PC (with crash) for tests, but I do not see yet no one.

P.P.S.: I also added in the guide MD5-checksum for important files (and link for the utility), so at first check them.
