Another caveat is if you partition the drive while installing OSX, Boot Camp still won't be able to use that second partition that you set up. For whatever reason it needs the drive to be a single OSX Journaled partition, and it will take care of creating your Windows partition. That doesn't seem like the most intuitive or safe way to do it, but far be it from me to tell Apple how to make their software.
